Daddy Always Gets Jealous

Jin Bo looked at the speaking officer. ”How exactly do I cooperate?”

The officer said, ”We’ve already checked the nearby surveillance. The day before the victim died, he did indeed come to see you.”

Jin Bo sat there, with Qin Shaojin seated beside him.

The two of them exuded a stern, imposing aura at the same time.

After a long moment, Jin Bo said in a low voice, ”So?”

The officer looked at Jin Bo. Faced with this kind of mayor, an inexplicable sense of fear arose in him. ”Please cooperate with us in making a statement. We’ll be imposing a travel ban on you, Mr. Mayor. For now, we just need you to be available at any time to cooperate with our investigation.”

Jin Bo looked over at Qin Shaojin.

Qin Shaojin looked at the officer. ”Fine. You take the statement. I, as Mayor Jin’s lawyer, pursuant to Article 9 of the Regulations on the Disclosure of Government Information, demand that you keep your body camera on for the entire process and make it public on Weibo.”

The officer looked at Qin Shaojin. ”I’m sorry, that’s not in accordance with the regulations.”

Qin Shaojin looked at the officer, the corners of his eyes carrying a faint smile. ”Not in accordance? If you haven’t even learned the most basic legal knowledge, you shouldn’t be out here enforcing the law.”

The officer stood there, his face flushed bright red.

Qin Shaojin looked at him. ”Let’s run through this: government information that meets any of the following basic conditions shall be proactively disclosed:

(1) Information that involves the vital interests of citizens, legal persons, or other organizations;

(2) Information that the general public needs to be widely aware of or participate in;

(3) Information that reflects the institutional setup, functions, and work procedures of this administrative organ;

(4) Other information that, according to laws, regulations, and relevant state provisions, shall be proactively disclosed.”

The officer stood there, staring at Qin Shaojin in horror.

Qin Shaojin straightened his collar. ”Got it memorized? Next time you go out to enforce the law, don’t make a fool of yourself.”

The officer: ”...”

Qin Shaojin said, ”Which of these do you think doesn’t apply to Mayor Jin?”

The officer stood there, stammering for a long time without managing a single complete sentence.

Jin Bo stood off to the side, gave them a glance, and said, ”Fang Zheng, see them out first. Have the Public Security Bureau send over someone with adequate professional competence to take the statement.”

Fang Zheng looked at the several officers. ”This way, please.”

With no other choice, the officers left the scene. They hadn’t gone far before, still fuming, they posted a Weibo update accusing Mayor Jin of obstructing law enforcement.

They had originally thought it would trigger a public reaction and push this case toward a quick resolution.

They didn’t expect that in just a short while, a lot of critical comments appeared in the comment section.

”Heh, so this is that officer who doesn’t even know his own job?”

”Your mom’s calling you home to study law.”

”Be good, stop whining.”

...

Scrolling further down, the tone was no longer as polite as at the beginning. People were saying all sorts of things, including insults, personal attacks, and curses involving his ancestors.

The officer, burning with shame and anger, was just about to track down the IDs of the Weibo accounts insulting him when he received a call from his superior.

”Where are you? Get back to the station immediately.”

The officer said, ”We’re already on our way back.”

The leader hung up at once, staring at the video on Weibo that had already sparked heated discussion, his face as dark as coal.

In the video, Mayor Jin sat there, expression icy and severe. Lawyer Qin questioned the law enforcement officer, word by word, leaving him speechless, standing there like an idiot.

This slap in the face—

Less than half an hour later, the officers who had been on duty returned.

Director Feng looked at them. ”Effective immediately, you’re all suspended and will conduct self-criticism.”

The officer who had been rendered speechless by Qin Shaojin couldn’t help asking, ”Director, why?”

”Why? You’ve still got the face to ask why?”

He tossed his phone onto the table. ”Recite Article 9 of the Regulations on the Disclosure of Government Information.”

The officer: ”...”

Director Feng looked at him, his face dark, and asked, ”Had enough yet?”
