Daddy Always Gets Jealous

Huo Jinnan released his arms, ”The Captain hasn’t been vaccinated this year, so from now on it’ll bathe itself, or you can call for housekeeping service.”

”...”

But the Captain was so fond of being clean, even if it hadn’t been vaccinated this year, surely it couldn’t have any contagious diseases, right?

Che Huan looked at Huo Jinnan, and seeing that he was not the least bit joking, she was stunned for a moment before suddenly thinking of Che Zhiqiang. She quickly changed the subject, ”How did your talk with my stepfather go?”

”We left in disagreement.”

Huo Jinnan only uttered four words, then pressed the switch by the bed, and the entire room suddenly darkened.

Che Huan lay there, momentarily unaccustomed to the darkness, she could no longer see his face clearly.

After a long while, his features gradually became clear to her in the dark.

It wasn’t long before he got up, ”I’m going to take a shower, you go to sleep first.”

Che Huan, ”Okay.”

She held the blanket, feeling very confused.

Watching him put on slippers and head to the bathroom, listening to the sound of his footsteps on the floor.

Half an hour passed without him coming out, and she began to feel sleepy, eventually falling asleep unwittingly.

When Huo Jinnan returned, he took a long, deep look at her and lay down beside her, closing his eyes.

...

The next day, as Che Huan got up to wash, Huo Jinnan came in and saw her. He stood there adjusting his collar as if nothing had happened.

Che Huan quickly turned the tap to the cold side, washing her face and feeling much better.

After Huo Jinnan adjusted his shirt, he glanced at Che Huan, ”I’m stepping out for a bit. I’ll come back for lunch with you.”

Che Huan hummed in response and watched him leave after washing up, her gaze lingering on the doorway for a long time.

In less than ten minutes, the Captain’s customary knock sounded outside the door.

Che Huan opened the door and the Captain burst in, nearly knocking her over, first biting her skirt and then giving her bear hugs.

This enthusiasm!

Che Huan found it hard to cope and pleaded for mercy, ”Alright, Captain.”

The Captain romped for a while before settling down.

Che Huan looked at the Captain and suddenly felt that Huo Jinnan and his son, along with the Captain, were her life-and-death tribulations!

If they were her life-and-death tribulations, and she couldn’t escape or avoid them, then why not face them head-on?

She really had no way to deal with the three of them, just as the song lyrics say—

In the years we live, when paths narrowly cross, the encounter is inevitable!

With that thought, she picked up her phone, searched for ”Years of Flowing Time,” and hit play. The player soon emitted a voice like the sound of heaven:

”Falling in love with an angel’s flaws,

Using a devil’s tongue,

God only blinked once in the clouds,

And at last, he frowned a little bit.”

...

Listening to the end, thinking of those not so beautiful lyrics, and before even finishing, Che Huan turned it off and looked at the Captain, ”What kind of person do you think your master is?”

The Captain looked at Che Huan silently.

Not knowing whether it understood, she softly repeated the name ”Huo Jinnan” three times, lowered her head, and touched her bangs, remembering the times he helped her arrange her bangs, and her heart felt as if suddenly jolted by an electric shock.

Lost in thought, the Captain suddenly pounced on her, toppling her onto the bed, then squatted to one side, wagging its tail.

Che Huan got up, glaring at the Captain, about to speak, when a realization struck her!

It was answering her!

Could it be that in the Captain’s mind, Huo Jinnan was such a person?
