Daddy Always Gets Jealous

She entered the bathroom and stood in front of the washbasin. Glancing at her reflection in the mirror, she closed her eyes, scooped up some cold water, and fiercely patted her cheeks with it. As she lifted her head and opened her eyes, the mirror suddenly revealed the man’s deep features, gradually enlarging and becoming clearer and clearer!

The faucet kept flowing, ”whoosh whoosh whoosh—”

She just stood there, staring at the man in the mirror approaching, ”Mr. Huo!”

”It seems you’ve forgotten what I told you that day.”

Huo Jinnan stepped closer, his dark eyes intently observing Che Huan’s slightly reddened cheeks in the mirror.

Che Huan quickly turned off the tap and turned to look at Huo Jinnan. Because of his proximity, she stepped back and found her back against the cool washbasin!

Huo Jinnan switched on his phone.

Inside, her voice played clearly—

”Mr. Huo, don’t do this!”

”Huo Jinnan!”

...

Che Huan’s face was flushed red.

Huo Jinnan stopped the recording, his gaze intense as he looked at Che Huan, ”Don’t want what?”

”...”

Che Huan bit her lip, feeling as though her throat was stuffed with fluffy sponges, making her unable to speak.

Dammit, she actually ended up doing what Wen Nuan had tutored her! Now, she wished she could crawl into a hole!

Huo Jinnan stared at Che Huan, as if waiting for her response.

Che Huan took a deep breath and with averted eyes, voiced, ”That night five years ago was a nightmare for me!”

”A nightmare? Doesn’t sound quite like it.”

Huo Jinnan lit a cigarette, took a drag, and stood less than a step away from Che Huan. His dark eyes wandered over her face and his voice also became magnetically enticing.

Che Huan felt terribly uncomfortable under his gaze, like a caught thief with nowhere to hide!

After a while, Huo Jinnan put out the cigarette, ”Have you completed your resignation procedures?”

Che Huan looked up at Huo Jinnan, ”You’re investigating me!”

Huo Jinnan crushed the cigarette butt, ”Wouldn’t it be better to use another word? Like, concerned.”

Che Huan remembered their first meeting, how he had Huo Bei dig up all her information, her breath quickened, ”I don’t want to be Mr. Huo’s pawn.”

Huo Jinnan brushed her face with his large palm, ”Don’t want to be my wife?”

”Pawn! A chess pawn!”

Che Huan glared at Huo Jinnan, lip bitten in annoyance, he was obviously doing it on purpose!

Huo Jinnan remained silent, his slender fingers tracing her eye corner.

Che Huan, having no place to escape, reached out to push away his arm.

Huo Jinnan grabbed her wrist, ”Don’t you want to know what your uncle told me?”

Che Huan shook her head.

Huo Jinnan looked at Che Huan, his breathing heavy.

Che Huan, anxiety-stricken, started, ”Mr. Huo, this is a woman’s...”

Before she could finish, he leaned in close, his lips near her ear, his voice low and beguiling, ”Qin Shaojin told me, you said you and he never had marital relations.”

Che Huan’s face burned crimson. She tried to push him away, but to no avail, ”Huo Jinnan!”

Huo Jinnan loosened his tie with his long fingers and stood upright, watching as Che Huan’s Adam’s apple bobbed, ”In a moment, tell Wen Nuan you have some affairs to take care of and to go back first.”
