The Darling of Heaven Owns a Rip-off Shop

Just then, the Wudang Sect Leader stood up and said in a clear voice, ”Young Hero Tang is right. Bater looks frank and upright, but in truth his wolfish ambition is plain as day. He came here for the position of Martial Arts Alliance Hierarch, wanting to seize the title and then command all the heroes. If a man from Mongolia were to become our Martial Arts Alliance Hierarch, and war broke out between the Central Plains and Mongolia, and the Hierarch ordered you not to resist—what would you do?”

The people who had just been singing Bater’s praises blew up on the spot, as if suddenly splashed with a bucket of cold, clarifying water.

”We’d rather die than obey, we’ll defend our homeland to the death!” someone shouted.

”You naturally wouldn’t obey an order not to resist. But what if you had originally planned to support one place, and the Hierarch sent a command telling you to change course and support another place instead, tricking you by saying that the other place was in greater danger—how would you judge that?” The Wudang Sect Leader continued, his voice low and heavy.

The crowd fell silent.

A Mongolian becoming the Martial Arts Alliance Hierarch of the Central Plains—what a chaotic situation that would be. No one could even imagine it.

”So what we said just now was the decision we have just made. From here on out, the election for Martial Arts Alliance Hierarch is abolished. An Elder Council will be established, with the Elders jointly deliberating on matters great and small. If anyone believes themselves capable, they may also apply to enter the Elder Council.” The Wudang Sect Leader said solemnly.

No one objected. After the provocation from the Mongolians just now, everyone understood all too well how important and timely this decision was.

Thus this year’s Martial Arts Gathering came to a close. No Martial Arts Alliance Hierarch was chosen, but applications from young talents to join the Elder Council were accepted, and they would have to pass a series of assessments before being approved.

The Martial Arts folk dispersed, and Tianmiao also took her leave of the various Sect Leaders and Family Heads.

The Wudang Sect Leader was the first to salute Tianmiao, saying gratefully, ”Many thanks for Boss Tian’s guidance; only thus were we spared a great dispute.” The other Sect Leaders and Family Heads all cupped their fists to Tianmiao in thanks as well.

”You’re welcome.” Tianmiao smiled. ”If there’s nothing else, I’ll be taking my leave.”

After Tianmiao left with her people, the Wudang Sect Leader turned to the crowd and said, ”Tell me, just who do you think Boss Tian really is?”

The various Sect Leaders and Family Heads all shook their heads.

”She appeared far too mysteriously, we simply can’t trace her background.”

”Her Martial Arts are probably the true number one under heaven. But we can’t tell what sect or school they belong to.”

”Her Inner Strength is so deep that it’s completely out of proportion to her age. Did some master pass his entire lifetime’s Inner Strength on to her?”

”How many masters would that take—that’s impossible. What, did a hundred masters pass Inner Strength to her?” These words came from the Kunlun Sect Leader. For some reason, once he said it, everyone inexplicably felt a chilly undertone to the remark.

”She doesn’t seem to have any particular goal. Just runs a black inn every day to make money.”

”I agree it’s a black inn. But I don’t agree with the first sentence—everyone has a goal, no? For a master of her level to suddenly appear in the Martial Arts world, it’s impossible that she has no purpose at all.”

”Don’t overthink it. And there’s no need to worry so much. I feel Boss Tian bears no ill will toward the Martial Arts. In fact, thanks to her, we were able to deal with that group of Mongolians today.”

”Speaking of which, that group of Mongolians coming here to run for Martial Arts Alliance Hierarch is definitely no simple matter. Over in Mongolia, are they plotting something?” a certain Family Head said, frowning with concern.

...

Tianmiao had no idea how this bunch of big shots in the Martial Arts world were talking about her behind her back; she was busy watching a group of Beggar Gang disciples make Beggar’s Chicken.
