MMORPG: Rise of the Primordial Godsmith

Chapter 1568: The Second Spark

”Hmm?”

Just as Valyr was planning to make use of [Ephemeral Bodies] to run the stator, the young man was forced to stop in his tracks after hearing the system go off in his mind all of a sudden.

’Did someone message or something?’ asked the young man to himself, only to give the idea a bit more thought. ’However, with how many notifications I received...’

’What did I do to attract the system’s attention, exactly?’

Curious as to what exactly caused the notifications, the young man eventually shifted his attention towards the screen in front of him, allowing him to answer the questions lingering in hi mind.

[Although you live in a world that mostly revolves around magic, you were still able to harness the power of electricity, taking the first steps necessary to push technology to the forefront.]

[Due to this impressive feat, you have obtained the title ’Rekindler of the Second Spark’.]

’...I see.’

Going through the first few notifications a couple of times, Valyr eventually understood what was going on. ’So, Ryvrthe and I caught the system’s attention for being the first to generate electricity on Veldanyr.’

Mulling over the thought in his mind for a bit more, the young man felt that the system awarding him a title because of it made a lot of sense.

After all, with all things considered, the planet’s level of technology currently hovered around the early stages of High Middle Ages.

Though, if he were to exclude the arquebus he introduced in the midst of the ongoing war, then the planet’s actual level would still be at the end of the Early Middle Ages.

Although it wasn’t impossible for one to start experimenting with small bits of electricity during the earlier ages, one would need to have knowledge of technology from the end of the First Industrial Revolution at least to start producing electricity en masse.

To a planet that had not even reached the Renaissance Age yet, that meant that anyone wanting to embark on a similar endeavor would have to learn five eras of technology first just to obtain it.

And that didn’t even include the infrastructure needed to produce electricity, which they would undoubtedly be forced to make from scratch.

’This inheritance really is a godsend in that regard,’ thought the young man by the end of it, giving Ryvrthe a brief glance. ’Not only are the parts needed to generate electricity already here, but there’s also someone who’s knowledgeable in it.’

Spending a bit of time to compose himself, Valyr soon took a look at his notifications once more, only to notice that there was more from the system aside from the title he just received.

Though he was curious as to what kind of buffs the new title had given, the young man decided to suppress this curiosity for the meantime, shifting his gaze towards the remaining system notifications.

[As the Rekindler of the Second Spark, it is only right that you bring forth the power of electricity to the masses and make them realize its wondrous capabilities.]

[However, keep in mind that the means in which you do so may affect how the masses perceive this newfound power.]

[Will the technology of a future age allow Veldanyr to ascend beyond its current heights?]

[Or will the technology cause it to spiral down a path that would ultimately lead to destruction?]

[You have received a world quest: Return of Veldanyr’s Second Spark.]

”...”

”...Huh.”

Closing his eyes for a bit to process what he just read, Valyr decided to read through the notifications a couple more times, only to feel both disbelief and confusion well up within him the moment he was done.

’...Seriously?’ Briefly glancing at the notification that contained the new quest he received, the young man could not help but let out a low sigh. ’A world quest? Just because we were the first to generate electricity?’

’Is the system forcing me to push electricity throughout the entirety of Veldanyr or something?’

Getting a hunch that the thought that popped up in his mind might be wrong, Valyr decided to bring up the quest’s description, wanting to confirm whether or not the system was forcing him to do what he was thinking.

Unfortunately for him...

The system was indeed trying to force him.

Ding!

[Return of Veldanyr’s Second Spark] (World Quest)

Difficulty: S

To humanity, the first spark was born when the fire was discovered.

Because of fire, humanity was able to rise amongst the various beasts of nature, establishing themselves as the predators of the prehistoric world.

After establishing their dominance on the world, humanity began to achieve greater heights, their control over the world slowly expanding as they learned to use more and more things to their advantage.

At some point, they harnessed the power of the materials around them to their benefit, introducing the concept of technology.

With this concept, humanity eventually stumbled upon the next spark that would propel them further than even fire did.

Electricity.

...

Although Veldanyr is currently a world predominated by the magic arts, the planet used to be a world known for its highly advanced technology.

Boasting a level of technology that allowed it to explore its neighboring planets as if it were its backyard, the foundations that made Veldanyr a technological powerhouse still exist, even if the hundreds of thousands of years that passed made their existence forgotten.

As long as these foundations are found once more, it would not be far-fetched to say that Veldanyr would slowly return to the world it once was, perhaps even go beyond it with the help of magic.

However, before these foundations can be discovered, the planet must first learn of the power that allowed them to stand above the rest in the first place.

As the Rekindler of the Second Spark, that is your duty.
