African Entrepreneurship Record

Chapter 382: Chapter 61 Business

Artifacts are one of the carriers of culture, and culture is something that the emerging nation of East Africa lacks the most. Not to mention countries with a short history like America, even Russia is the same.

Russian history is not short, but it’s quite awkward, as it can never avoid the Mongol Empire and the Golden Horde, always being mocked by the Western world and potentially removed from Europe.

Therefore, nihilism in Russian history is prevalent, with Tsarist Russia denying the Mongols, Soviet Russia denying Tsarist Russia, and Russia denying the Soviet Union. This way, Russia is always hovering between Europe and Asia, unable to find a sense of belonging for itself as a country. The entire Slavic race is like this. If the Slavs could find their own cultural confidence, it would certainly be a force capable of changing the world.

The East African Kingdom is similar to Russia in that both involve yellow and white races. Nearly half of the population in East Africa comes from the Far East. Ernst certainly won’t deny this history, otherwise how would he explain the origin of yellow-skinned people within the East African Kingdom? He can’t just tell the descendants in East Africa that their ancestors popped out of rocks.

Currently, the full Germanization of the East African Kingdom is a necessary means to consolidate power, while the center of the world is indeed in Europe now. East Africa needs to lean towards Europe, identifying itself as a German nation to better participate in international affairs. Additionally, Germany is a cultural concept, and Germany does not necessarily have to be in Europe, much like America in the Americas does not conflict with it being an English-speaking country.

So, Ernst personally believes that the East African Kingdom is a state formed by the fusion of Germans and Chinese, and therefore, the East African Kingdom has the reason to inherit the heritage of both cultures.

Therefore, Ernst’s private collection will remain in East Africa, which is a valuable cultural asset to the East African Kingdom. No one can deny the fact that the descendants of the East African Kingdom possess Huaxia bloodlines, just like the Chinese in the Nanyang, they are still the descendants of the Yan and Huang Emperors, it’s the same principle.

There is another layer to Ernst’s considerations, which is that the German history and culture itself is also not deep. The formation of the concept of Germany owes first to the glorious history of the Holy Roman Empire in Europe, and secondly to Emperor Napoleon, who thoroughly compelled the entire German state into cultural identity.

But for how long did the Holy Roman Empire last? Even if you roll back to the Roman era, the ancestors of the Germans were nothing more than a group of barbarians in the forest.

Before the Germanic people eliminated the Romans, German history was a blank slate, akin to the current natives in Africa. At that time, the Far Eastern civilization had already reached its peak, aligning the Far Eastern civilization and German history can seamlessly connect. In the future, East Africans can also claim a history spanning five thousand years.

The history of ancestors is also the history of one’s own people. East Africa is naturally the inheritor of both civilizations, and Ernst feels no burden about this matter.

...

While Ernst was still lingering at the port of Trieste, the immigration director Thomas had already arrived in Haiti.

The shipping route from Europe to North America is very crowded, so there is no worry about a shortage of flights.

A group of white people landing at Port-au-Prince did not attract much attention. Port-au-Prince is the capital of the Republic of Haiti and its political, economic, and cultural center, as well as its largest port city, located near the Southeast coast of the Gonaf Bay on the Kurd-Sak Plain.

In 1843, an earthquake destroyed the capital of Haiti, Haiti Cape, and Port-au-Prince was destroyed by fire. Therefore, the current Port-au-Prince has been renovated; however, it clearly cannot compare to the previous port, existing in a patchwork state.

The current president of Haiti is Nisar Sare, who is also a troublemaker because he previously supported France in the Franco-Prussian War, leading to Germany’s dissatisfaction. Thus, Germany demanded compensation of 3,000 British Pounds and dispatched two warships to Port-au-Prince to demonstrate. Haiti was compelled to compensate Germany. As a result, Nisar Sare is currently overwhelmed, trying to appease the anger of Haitians.

Within three years before Nisar Sare, Haiti had already changed two presidents. The first was Fabre Reflar. Fabre Reflar could be said to be the only ”enlightened ruler” in Haitian history, a president with no predecessor or successor in Haiti.

During his reign, he accomplished many practical tasks. It was also widely recognized as the best period in Haiti. However, towards the end of his reign, he followed the old path, revising the constitution, increasing his salary, purchasing two plantations, and adding funding to the military and hospitals, as well as indulging in personal luxuries.

In the later period of Reflar’s governance, his subordinates attempted several military coups to overthrow his rule but mostly failed. However, three years ago, in 1867, Reflar was forced to resign and went into exile by rebels led by Silvian Salnaf, who intended to replace him after holding office for eight years.

Silvian Salnaf was a completely muddle-headed ruler. Soon after assuming the presidency, Haiti experienced a rebellion and constant peasant uprisings. At this time, Salnaf continuously suppressed the opposition, revised the constitution, and increased his powers, and even made himself a lifelong president, only to be overthrown later.

In short, the history of Haiti is a mess. The current president, Nisar Sare, could fall at any time.

However, Thomas does not care, as such a state of Haiti is what East Africa hopes to see. Based on the current situation in Haiti, Thomas believes there is no need to waste money on the Haitian president.
