High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2783: Chapter 1004: The 11th Weekend

Certification is something every First University student nearing graduation needs to pay attention to.

Similar to ’Registered Talisman Maker’ or ’Authorized Symbol Bullet Maker,’ wizards who have mastered transformation techniques can get two credits as a reward from the school if they are willing to register with the Alliance.

Su Shijun reminded Zheng Qing of this at the beginning of the school year.

Zheng Qing had already included these two credits in his graduation plan early on, so when he heard Professor An notify him about the registration for the shape-shifting wizard exam starting, he immediately felt like the fruit had finally ripened and fallen into the basket.

”A small sign reveals a deeper truth. The Alliance’s control over wizards is getting stronger.”

Before the evening class meeting started, Zhang Ji Xin examined the ’Shape-Shifting Wizard Assessment Registration Form’ in his hand and commented with a nodding head: ”Wizards used to practice transformation techniques very cautiously, hiding it all, afraid of others knowing their transformed appearances. Now, more and more people have gotten used to making a report at the Alliance... Have you heard about the case years back? It was about Miss Lita from the Skit Family in Great Britain, who, after provoking enemies, was transformed and trapped in a drift bottle, floating from the North Sea to the Gold Coast, nearly becoming a mummy.”

”Is she the witch that turned into a beetle?”

The Fat Wizard’s interest was immediately piqued, instinctively taking out his feather pen and stroking it: ”—The judgment for that case was quite interesting. Several young wizards who punished Miss Lita claimed they were only conducting magic experiments and didn’t know the bug was a wizard, and that bugs weren’t protected under ’The Code,’ so it was considered an ’accidental incident’; but the Skit Family provided evidence of a conflict of interest between both parties, trying to prove it was a deliberate harm case... Danghag eventually punished both sides equally, finding the young wizards guilty of ’negligence,’ while Miss Lita also had to take half the responsibility for not registering her transformed form with the Alliance. Since that case, the number of registered shape-shifting wizards within the Alliance noticeably increased, everyone learned to distribute risks—or rather, to have the Alliance and ’The Code’ bear part of the risk they might encounter after transforming...”

Zheng Qing was listening drowsily.

He couldn’t understand why they could engross themselves in such a dry topic.

”Aren’t you assisting at the ’Will’ office lately?” Zheng Qing poked Zhang Ji Xin, curious about why he arrived at the classroom so early today.

The red-faced male wizard shrugged.

”It’s less than two months until summer break,” he tapped on the glass window, seemingly trying to remind Zheng Qing of the season outside: ”—My brother will step down next semester, and I don’t likely have a chance to compete for the next Lei Zhe. So there’s no point in staying in that office. What about you, any plans after graduation?”

Evidently, he didn’t want to continue the topic related to his brother.

”Isn’t Mr. Zha an assistant instructor at the school? He’s already got the best golden job in the Alliance, why would he need any other plans!” The Fat Wizard spoke with a mix of admiration.

”I heard you’re getting married after graduation?” Zhang Ji Xin quickly glanced at the front row of the classroom, cautiously pointing towards Beta Town’s West District direction.

The Greenhill Mansion is in Beta Town’s West District.

Zheng Qing swiftly erected a sound insulation barrier at the moment Zhang Ji Xin uttered the word ’married.’ Luckily, because the next second, the Fat Wizard’s scream almost pierced his eardrums.

”Marriage? With whom? Su Councilor or Jiang Da Headmaster? Surely there’s no one else! Wait, are you sure it’s with a person?” Xin Fat Man excitedly babbled without thinking, looked at Zheng Qing, realized he couldn’t extract anything from him, then immediately shifted his gaze to Zhang Ji Xin: ”—Where did you hear this news?”

”Everyone is saying it privately.”

The red-faced male wizard vaguely said, yet kept glancing at Zheng Qing: ”Reportedly, rumors from the Moon Council said Su Councilor will get married in a few months...”

”Don’t know, not clear, have not heard.”

Zheng Qing flatly denied three times in succession, but internally was a bit flustered—Su Shijun indeed mentioned something similar before the semester started, but she did so in a joking manner, now it sounds like a serious claim, making him involuntarily overthink—looking squint-eyed at his companions almost stretching their heads over his desk, he finally couldn’t help but shout: ”Just now you guys said it’s more than a month till summer break... Just before the end-of-semester upgrade exams for the second-year academic year, yet you are constantly focusing on gossip here, do you not feel any sense of urgency?”

”The elders mentioned it’s two months, how did it become a little over a month with you?” The Fat Wizard silently pouted.

...

...

”—Accurately speaking, you have six weeks of study time left, including review. The last week, which is the eighteenth week of the semester, will hold the end-of-semester exams, leaving you no more time for study.”

On the podium, Old Yao also reminded the students to pay attention to the end-of-semester exam time during tonight’s class meeting: ”The reason for emphasizing this early is that the focus of school work for the upcoming period is the establishment of Edge Academy. This has been in preparation for a long time, and I think everyone is mentally prepared. It’s no exaggeration to say it’s the most important event for the First University in the recent few hundred years... The last time a new academy was established was three hundred years ago, when Jiuyou, Alpha, Atlas, and Starry Sky combined to form the First University. So, the significance and impact of establishing Edge Academy are immense, I believe I don’t need to repeat myself excessively.

Because this matter is very important, so for the next period—coincidentally also the time when you prepare for the end-of-semester exams—the school will become somewhat noisy. This noise could be brought by guests attending the establishment ceremony of Edge Academy from outside the school, could be discussions on newspapers, magazines, even student clubs’ private talks, and could also be small actions by those who dislike the new academy.

No matter what, I hope you don’t get distracted by this noise. Focus on your respective studies. You are students, a student’s main task is to learn. Does the establishment of Edge Academy have a direct relation to you? Yes, not much. As students of Jiuyou Academy, don’t concern yourselves with the activities of other academies, concentrate your focus on the end-of-semester exams, this is responsible for everyone.

Lastly, there is one more thing I want to remind you about.

Next Thursday, outside the school, there’s a ’Quanke comes,’ a small-scale market hosted by aquatic sorcery tribes every year. I believe some students might have already received invitations... I just want to emphasize, be cautious, you are not aquatic tribes, prepare a few more Gill Pouch Grass or Shaotang Fruit before entering the water, it can’t hurt.”
