”Are we really going to the Infirmary?”

Clearly, after their previous interactions, the Persuader had realized that the man in front of him did not think like a normal person.

Even though Fu Qian had readily agreed to his proposal, his tone remained cautious.

It was as if he feared the guy would change his tune in the very next second, shut him down completely, and mock him.

”Weren’t you just clear and systematic with your analysis, strongly suggesting we go to the Infirmary?”

Fu Qian gave him a look that clearly said, Why are you acting so weird? before heading straight for the Infirmary, leaving the Persuader in silence.

In reality, Fu Qian completely agreed with the Persuader’s suggestion.

Aside from the points he had just analyzed, there was another crucial detail—the Persuader didn’t know the contents of Fu Qian’s mission.

This meant he was unaware of the objective to find the young child. Instead, he focused entirely on searching for the anomalies within this dream, which was why he paid so much attention to the rat holes.

But for Fu Qian, finding the child was an explicit requirement, one he could confirm was the key to breaking this dream.Judging from what had happened so far, it was highly probable that this child was the entity known as the Blessed Bug.

Although the book was nearly a thousand pages long and contained entirely different pests, it wasn’t impossible for them all to be larvae of the same High Tier existence.

The book acted as a medium, planting a seed inside the body of everyone who read it.

Ultimately, aided by that earlier mist of spirituality that could stimulate the spirit, the larva was born.

If this deduction held true, then his next strategy would be very simple.

He would use the process of elimination. By tracking down everyone who had read the book one by one, he would inevitably find the larva’s vessel.

Therefore, no matter what, Fu Qian was absolutely not going to overlook the Infirmary situated so close to the library.

...

Soon enough, he stood before the door of the Infirmary once again.

Seeing the light spilling from inside, Fu Qian pressed the doorbell.

He didn’t hold much hope that anyone was still alive in there. After all, Brother Six-Legs had likely already been devoured by Liang Yuntian.

”Who is it?”

To his pleasant surprise, someone actually answered from within.

At the same time, however, Fu Qian noticed that it wasn’t the voice of the doctor he had met earlier.

In fact, he recognized this voice—it was Liang Yuntian.

Yes, he was absolutely certain this was the very same Liang Yuntian he had fought before.

Liang Yuntian was on duty in the Infirmary at this hour?

He had to admit, this plot twist was completely beyond his expectations.

”A student. I’m feeling a bit unwell.”

As Fu Qian thought this over, he repeated the same line he had used during his first visit.

”Come in.”

A response came in less than a second, carrying an indescribable eagerness in its tone.

Click!

The next moment, before Fu Qian could even push the door, it was pulled open from the inside.

Liang Yuntian’s face appeared behind the door. He was even wearing an ill-fitting white coat, its fabric stretched tight across his chest and back.

The instant he saw Fu Qian—especially his arm—Liang Yuntian’s eyes practically lit up.

However, that expression lasted for a mere half-second before his smile vanished, replaced by a deep frown.

He stood in place, looking Fu Qian up and down no fewer than ten times before his expression shifted to one of sheer disinterest.

”May I come in?”

Fu Qian completely ignored the sudden change in attitude, merely looking at him with a beaming smile.

Liang Yuntian didn’t say a word. He silently turned around and sat back down in his seat.

Fu Qian followed him inside and took a seat on the opposite side of the desk.

He glanced around but found no trace of anyone else.

Even the floor was spotless, completely devoid of bloodstains or anything of the sort.

The only strange thing was that the floor was a little too clean, almost as if someone had licked it spotless.

The two people who were originally supposed to be here had likely already been feasted upon.

Fu Qian stared at Liang Yuntian behind the desk.

It actually wasn’t hard to understand his earlier excitement.

He didn’t yet know what mindset had led the man to stay here after finishing his meal.

But Liang Yuntian clearly knew that most people had already lost their minds in the mist.

Only his prey would still retain some semblance of normal consciousness.

And someone who spoke normally had a very high probability of being food.

Thus, upon hearing a seemingly normal person ring the doorbell, Liang Yuntian had instantly grown thrilled.

But after opening the door, he had probably used some sort of identification trick to realize Fu Qian didn’t smell like food, leaving him utterly disappointed in a flash.

Fu Qian felt even more satisfied with his prior decision to pull out the pest with his bare hands.

Judging from what had just happened, even someone like Liu Yi, who only wanted to run away, had gained incredible abilities after receiving the enlightenment of the mist of spirituality.

A few simple shrieks of the Banshee’s Howl had nearly emptied his Health Bar.

Considering this guy’s combat prowess was already off the charts and his appetite was insatiable, it was definitely best not to fight him head-on for now.

He had previously worried the guy would just start biting, making communication impossible. Now that he wasn’t on the menu, they undoubtedly had a chance to converse.

Fu Qian still had questions he wanted to confirm with Liang Yuntian.

”Where do you feel unwell?”

Sitting across from him, Liang Yuntian leaned back in his chair and questioned Fu Qian coldly, his eyes distant and glazed over.

”My head feels a little unwell. I might have eaten something dirty.”

Fu Qian spouted nonsense casually, taking the opportunity to test how much of the guy’s Sanity Value remained.

Unsurprisingly, Liang Yuntian didn’t notice anything wrong with that statement.

It felt as though the man’s consciousness had already been completely overwhelmed by endless hunger.

As Fu Qian thought this, his eyes scanned the surface of the desk.

The next second, his eyes lit up as he spotted a Medical Record Booklet sitting right by Liang Yuntian’s hand.

”Doctor, I lost my Medical Record Booklet on the way here. Do you have one I could use?”

Hm?

In that instant, Liang Yuntian seemed to sense something. He slowly raised his head, fixing his gaze on Fu Qian’s face.

Fu Qian stared back at him with complete composure, showing not a trace of unnaturalness.

Smack!

The next moment, Liang Yuntian picked up the Medical Record Booklet next to him and tossed it over.

Fu Qian calmly caught it, flipping it open to take a look.

[Han Jin]

This name!

Fu Qian was absolutely certain that this was one of the three names on the Library Card, aside from his own.

A scene naturally surfaced in Fu Qian’s mind.

After the Mist descended, the pest inside Han Jin’s body had awakened. Feeling unwell, he had taken the initiative to come here for a checkup.

While the on-duty doctor was fulfilling his duties, he had accidentally stimulated the pest. Tragedy struck in the very next moment, ultimately resulting in the appearance of that six-legged monster.

Things were going even smoother than he had imagined. The search radius had just shrunk significantly.

Smiling, Fu Qian closed the Medical Record Booklet as he recalled the other two names on the Library Card.

”By the way, doctor, I actually have a classmate who is also feeling a bit unwell. Unfortunately, his head hurts so much that he can’t make it over here. Could you go and take a look at him?

”His name is—Qiu Chengyi.”
