My Most Beautiful Fiancée

Xue Xi’s drinking was interrupted, and the jolt of it sobered her up quite a bit.

She really had been getting a little tipsy.

Mu Lin shot Xue Xi a reproachful look. ”Can’t you exercise some self-control?”

Xue Xi blushed, thinking, ’I really did go a bit too far.’

Yu Xianhua’s expression turned vicious. They had been having a perfectly good time drinking, and Mu Lin’s interruption had completely ruined the mood.

”What the hell? We were all having a good time. What do you mean you won’t let her drink? This is a class reunion. You’re just an outsider who tagged along, you know that? Our Squad Leader didn’t say a word, so what gives you the right to interfere!”

”I’m sorry, I’m so sorry...” Xue Xi apologized profusely. ”Mu Lin is just too blunt. I’m always telling him about it. I hope you all don’t mind!”

Xue Xi quickly pulled Mu Lin behind her and gave everyone a deep, solemn bow.

A lecherous glint appeared in Yu Xianhua’s eyes. ”Squad Leader Xue, look at how your boyfriend has ruined the mood for everyone. Shouldn’t you atone for that with, say, three penalty shots?”

Mu Lin’s eyes blazed with anger, but Xue Xi shook her head, silently pleading with him not to cause a scene.

Watching this unfold made Mu Lin extremely uncomfortable.

Li Li watched Xue Xi with malicious intent, like a predator sizing up its prey. After three more shots, Xue Xi would surely be completely out of it, ripe for Yu Xianhua to have his way with her.

Lv Fangfei couldn’t stand it any longer. ”Yu Xianhua, Xue Xi has already had way too much to drink! We’re talking three shots of hard liquor, not beer! This isn’t child’s play!”

Yu Xianhua shot Lv Fangfei a look, thinking, ’What’s this bitch trying to pull, popping up now?’

While Lv Fangfei was also very attractive, she still couldn’t quite compare to Xue Xi.

In fact, he had orchestrated this whole gathering just to get to Xue Xi.

As for the guy she brought along, even though she claimed he was her boyfriend, he didn’t believe a single word of it.

He had been keeping tabs on Xue Xi for a while. Her love life was a complete blank slate.

For her to suddenly have a boyfriend was just ridiculous.

Xue Xi quickly raised her hand. ”It’s fine, it’s fine! I’m the one who spoiled the fun. I should drink the penalty shots!”

She tilted her head back to drink, but her hand was so unsteady she couldn’t get a firm grip on the glass. It slipped from her grasp twice.

Yu Xianhua glanced at Li Li, who then handed the glass to Xue Xi, helping her hold it steady.

Xue Xi tilted her head back, downed the shot, and immediately started to sway on her feet.

But Yu Xianhua just brought over the other two shots and placed them in Li Li’s hands. ”Make sure our Squad Leader drinks these. Don’t let her get away!”

Li Li said obsequiously, ”Don’t worry, I won’t let her get away!”

Yu Xianhua stretched his shoulders, looking completely at ease.

”Squad Leader Xue, you can really hold your liquor! It would be a real shame not to have a powerhouse drinker like you around. We should definitely get together more often!”

Li Li’s eyes lit up. ”Xianhua, aren’t you a manager at some big company? Squad Leader Xue has fallen on hard times and is out of a job. Could you help arrange something for her?”

”Oh?” Yu Xianhua feigned surprise. Of course, it was all an act. How could he not know about Xue Xi’s situation?

”I had no idea our Squad Leader was having such a tough time. Of course, I have to help out. But... that depends on whether our Squad Leader is willing to get to know me better. Everything runs on personal relationships. If people ask about you and you’re just a stranger, they probably won’t do me any favors.”

The implication was painfully obvious. If Xue Xi didn’t agree to sleep with him, he wouldn’t help her.

Xue Xi had no desire whatsoever to get involved with Yu Xianhua. She found him repulsive.

”I already have a boyfriend. What you’re asking is completely out of the question!”

Mu Lin finally understood why Xue Xi had insisted he come. Without him here as her ”boyfriend,” she would have likely been forced into a corner.

With someone by her side, she finally had some ground to stand on.

After all, he couldn’t just force himself on her in front of her boyfriend, right? He had to save at least that much face.

Yu Xianhua’s expression stiffened, then instantly turned grim. His face was so dark it looked like thunder.

”I’m offering you a job. What does that have to do with your boyfriend?” Yu Xianhua said, completely shameless.

Playing dumb when he knew exactly what was going on—the man was truly vicious.

Xue Xi said, ”President Guo already told me about your true intentions! You’re putting me in an impossible position!”

The corner of Yu Xianhua’s mouth twitched. He’d thought he could easily coax Xue Xi into his grasp, but things had taken an unexpected turn.

The other classmates didn’t quite catch what was going on, but they had a feeling it was nothing good.

His face turned livid. ”What’s that supposed to mean? Is the job not good enough for you? It pays at least 200,000 a year. Are you saying that’s not enough?”

Xue Xi said, ”We’re all classmates here. There’s no need to make such an ugly scene. It will make things awkward for all of us down the road.”

Li Li quickly chimed in, ”Squad Leader Xue, just hurry up and apologize! Yu Xianhua is a manager at a major corporation now. We can’t afford to get on his bad side.”

Yu Xianhua sneered. ”You should be grateful I’m even interested in you. You’ve already sunk this low, and you’re still trying to play the virtuous maiden? In your dreams!”

”Let me be clear. Without my say-so, you can forget about ever finding a job in Anhua! I know plenty of people. One phone call is all it takes to get you blacklisted!”

Lv Fangfei shot back, ”Yu Xianhua, what the hell are you saying? Cut the disgusting act!”

Yu Xianhua gave Lv Fangfei a contemptuous sidelong glance. ”You want to lose your job too, huh? Believe it or not, with a single word from me, your accounting job at the department store will be gone.”

Lv Fangfei’s face turned pale. She was so angry she stamped her foot. ”I refuse to believe there’s no one in this world who can put you in your place!”

Yu Xianhua roared with laughter. ”My uncle is the HR Director at Zongguang Group. What I want, he wants. So tell me, who’s going to put me in my place?”

Zongguang Group. At the mention of the name, everyone’s expression changed drastically. Lv Fangfei looked as disgusted and helpless as if she’d swallowed a fly. This changed everything.

The difference was like heaven and earth. They absolutely could not afford to go against Yu Xianhua now, or their entire futures could be ruined.

It was Anhua’s most powerful corporation, the jewel in the city’s crown.

Xue Xi was trembling. She had only heard that Yu Xianhua had a lot of connections from his job at a big corporation, and that was why her previous boss had been forced to fire her.

And President Guo had even warned her to be extremely careful and not to offend Yu Xianhua under any circumstances.

”Xue Xi, I really do like you. So, I’ll be magnanimous and forgive you. Just apologize properly tonight, and we can put all this behind us. I’ll even find you a new job—one that’s respectable and easy, with great pay.”

Xue Xi bit her lip. Yu Xianhua had her completely trapped.

Seeing the look of despair on Xue Xi’s face, Yu Xianhua felt an incredible sense of satisfaction and burst out laughing.

But Mu Lin spoke up. ”Classmate Yu,” he said, ”you sound pretty impressive. What’s your uncle’s name that he has so much influence?”

Yu Xianhua hadn’t expected this impostor to actually dare challenge him. He narrowed his eyes. ”My uncle’s name is Yu Wenxi! Ever heard of him?”

Mu Lin smiled. ”Nope.”

”Then you can go ask around. When you’re done, I’ll be waiting for you to get on your knees and apologize to me!”

Yu Xianhua leaned casually against the table, completely underestimating Mu Lin.

”Yu Wenxi, you said? Alright, hold on.” As he spoke, Mu Lin dialed Chu Chaoxiong’s number.

Chu Chaoxiong was in the middle of something, but when he saw the call was from Mu Lin, he quickly waved for everyone else to leave the room.

”Mr. Mu!”

Chu Chaoxiong’s tone was filled with respect.

”Mm,” Mu Lin acknowledged. ”How are things progressing? Are the people at Zongguang Group cooperating?”

”Everything is going smoothly. Wang Zuguang has been extremely cooperative, giving us the green light all the way. I’ve already signed most of the paperwork and am close to gaining effective control of the entire group!”

Mu Lin nodded slowly. ”I see. Alright. Is the HR Director at Zongguang named Yu Wenxi?”

Chu Chaoxiong glanced at a list of executives. ”Yes, he is.”

Mu Lin glanced over at Yu Xianhua. ’So the little prick wasn’t bluffing.’

Hearing the content of Mu Lin’s call, Yu Xianhua started to feel uneasy. ’What the hell is going on?’ he thought. ’That line, ”Are the people at Zongguang Group cooperating?”... It sounded like he was in charge of the entire company. That’s got to be a joke.’

Mu Lin said, ”Fire him. Promote one of your own people to the position. HR Director is an important role; it’s not for just any random nobody.”

”Yes, sir!” ’What on earth did this Yu Wenxi do?’ Chu Chaoxiong wondered. ’How did he manage to get on Mr. Mu’s bad side?’

’Whatever the reason, offending Mr. Mu is a fatal mistake!’

Ever since witnessing Mu Lin’s true power, Chu Chaoxiong had resolved to follow him with unshakeable loyalty.
