My Most Beautiful Fiancée

Li Xue frowned. ”You should discuss this with the HR department. I can’t make the final call on my own.”

Mu Lin scratched his head. ’Is there really anything in this company you can’t make the final call on?’ he thought.

He was just joking, though.

Originally, the company’s HR Director had been Sun He, but he’d been kicked out along with Lu Yi.

After Sun He was removed, Li Xue had selected a new HR director from within the department.

His surname was Zhang, and his given name was Feng.

Zhang Feng greeted Mu Lin with great enthusiasm, giving a slight bow and a nod.

”Team Leader Mu, you can just bring it straight to me. I’ll take care of the interview, then report up to President Li.”

Mu Lin got the sense that Zhang Feng was offering to use the back door to let her in, which he found rather annoying.

”I’m not sure I understand. Are you saying you intend to just pass her through?”

Zhang Feng said, ”Anyone vouched for by Team Leader Mu is sure to be fine. I trust your judgment!”

Mu Lin’s expression turned serious. ”No. Interview her properly, and if she’s not a fit, reject her. Don’t let an unqualified bad apple disrupt the company’s operations. Things aren’t easy for the company right now; we can’t let one or two people ruin it for everyone.”

Hearing this, Li Xue pursed her lips. She couldn’t help but feel Mu Lin was referring to her hasty promotion of Director Cheng.

’This whole mess only happened because Director Cheng targeted me by pandering to my tastes,’ she thought.

’If I hadn’t gotten personally involved and had just let the HR department handle it, none of this would have happened.’

”Meeting adjourned!” She didn’t give Mu Lin a pleasant look.

When Mu Lin arrived at the HR department, Zhang Feng immediately showed him to a seat and served him tea, fawning over him.

Mu Lin said, ”She studied finance abroad and worked for a few years before coming back. I figured if her major is a match, she could probably do this.”

Director Zhang mulled it over for a moment. ”You see, her work experience is rather limited. Wouldn’t it be inappropriate to make her a director right away?”

Mu Lin hadn’t considered that. ”I was just spitballing. To be honest, I haven’t even asked her if she’s interested... If it’s a no-go, then it’s a no-go. No big deal.”

Zhang Feng was utterly dumbfounded. ’Mu Lin is being this casual about it?’ he thought.

As soon as he left the office, Mu Lin called Xue Xi. ”Miss Xue, is Tao Xinxin out of work right now?”

Xue Xi replied, ”That’s right. She just got back, so she doesn’t have any prospects yet.”

”Well, I found an interview opportunity for her. It’s for the Finance Director position at my company. The responsibilities will be heavy, but I think it’s a bigger opportunity.”

”Let’s have her give it a shot!”

Xue Xi was delighted. She hadn’t expected Mu Lin to take Tao Xinxin’s employment so seriously—she, her so-called best friend, had completely forgotten about such an important matter.

It made her feel like a particularly negligent friend.

”Thank you, Brother Mu. I’ll give you her number so you can contact her.”

As soon as he got the number, Mu Lin called Tao Xinxin.

Tao Xinxin was arranging her room and was surprised to get the call.

’Mu Lin is actually thinking of me? Finding me a job?’

Tao Xinxin was deeply moved. ”Brother Mu, thank you! I’ll prepare for it thoroughly. Even though I don’t have much experience, I definitely won’t waste the opportunity you’ve found for me!”

Mu Lin smiled faintly. ”Don’t mention it. It’s a small thing.”

Not long after Mu Lin hung up, Zhou Qianfan also called to ask about the situation.

”Mu Lin, how did it go?”

”Uncle Zhou, what situation are you referring to?”

Zhou Qianfan said, ”Do you even have to ask? The situation with that so-called Director Cheng, of course.”

Mu Lin replied, ”I exposed his identity during the regular meeting, and he was kicked out. A happy ending, I suppose?”

Zhou Qianfan let out a long sigh of relief. ”That’s good to hear. There could be no better news!”

”Thank you, Uncle Zhou. Without the information you gave me, I’m afraid I wouldn’t have been able to get rid of Director Cheng so cleanly.”

Zhou Qianfan said, ”That father and son pair, Lu Baichuan and Lu Yi, are not on the level. They’ve done a lot of dirty deeds behind the scenes. I’m preparing to drive them out of Anhua City. What do you think?”

Mu Lin didn’t give it much thought. The Lu Family was just reaping what they sowed, so there was no need for him to say anything.

”Then drive them out,” Mu Lin said with a cold laugh. ”You don’t have to ask for my opinion. Do what you need to do.”

At that moment, in the training grounds of the Anhua Martial Arts Association, a large group of people was gathered in a circle.

They were all gathered around a single man, whose presence was formidable. He faced the crowd alone, looking utterly invincible.

He crooked a finger, and with a roar, everyone pounced.

His fists moved like the wind. In just a moment, the students from the Martial Arts Association were sent flying.

Those who had cultivated External Strength were knocked the farthest, some even crashing into the edge of the training grounds.

The students who had cultivated Inner Strength fared slightly better, but they were still sent flying more than ten meters.

In just moments, few people were left standing.

Han Longguo grabbed a towel from a subordinate and wiped his sweat. The subordinate leaned in and whispered something to him.

”Mu Lin, is it? Is this kid insane? He’s got some real nerve.”

The subordinate replied, ”Indeed. Grandmaster Li has been killed... Tao Xinxin has been rescued. All our plans have gone to waste.”

”He actually dared to interfere in our business? Is he courting death?”

Han Longguo’s eyes narrowed with rage, his expression furious.

However, a middle-aged man spoke calmly:

”Young Master, this Mu Lin is not to be underestimated. Vajra Zhenren died at his hands. It would be best to steer clear of him.”

Han Longguo sneered. ”Vajra Zhenren? That old coot had an undeserved reputation. Isn’t it normal for someone like him to get killed after coming out of seclusion? I spend my years sparring with others. Don’t you think I’m much stronger than he was?”

”Our Martial Arts Association is teeming with talent. Are you telling me we don’t have anyone who can defeat him?”

With that, Han Longguo started to walk out.

”Young Master, please reconsider! At least discuss it with the Chairman!”

”My dad is in seclusion. There’s no need to bother him with such a trivial matter.”

Han Longguo picked up his phone and made a call.

”Old Fei, you got a minute?”

Old Fei replied, ”I do, but what are you planning?”

Han Longguo said, ”I had a Grandmaster under me with the surname Li. He drank with you before, Brother Fei. Remember him?”

Old Fei responded, ”I remember! What about him?!”

”He’s dead!”

”What?! That’s a real shame. But we were just casual acquaintances. Telling me about it probably won’t do much good!”

Han Longguo said, ”The killer is too strong. I can’t beat him.”

”Oh? Brother Han, you’ve always been so arrogant. I can’t believe you’d admit you can’t beat someone.”

Han Longguo sighed heavily. ”There’s something you don’t know. This person was able to kill Vajra Zhenren. His strength is not as simple as you imagine!”

”Ah, Mu Lin, right? He’s become quite famous. How did you manage to provoke him?”

”I didn’t provoke him, he provoked me!” Han Longguo’s voice was hoarse, verging on frantic.

”Brother Han, can’t you just take a step back and let it go? This person’s future is probably limitless!”

”Are you scared, Brother Fei? If you don’t dare to make a move on him, I’ll find someone else!”

Fei chuckled. ”What a joke. Me, scared? I was just recommending a cheaper solution. Of course, if you’re determined to have your swift revenge, I have ways.”

”As long as you make a move, Brother Fei, my reward will be substantial! You can rest assured!”

Fei laughed heartily. ”Say no more! With my status, who would dare to touch me? Even if that Mu Lin is strong enough to look down on Vajra Zhenren, he’ll still have to be polite to me.”

Han Longguo narrowed his eyes. ’This Old Fei is from the Military Suppression Bureau,’ he thought. ’Would Mu Lin really dare to touch him?’

’He’s a first-class operative, and a very powerful one at that.’

”Then, Brother Fei, how... how do you plan to handle this...?”

Brother Fei smiled faintly. ”You don’t need to worry about that. I have my ways of dealing with him!”

Hearing Brother Fei’s guarantee, Han Longguo’s eyes grew even sharper.

”Then I’ll be waiting for your good news, Brother Fei!”

After the call ended, Han Longguo put away his phone, a smug smile playing on his lips.

”That kid is finished!” Han Longguo laughed sinisterly.

’If he dares to resist, even better. I’ll show him a death so swift he won’t even know what happened.’

Inside the Li Group, three men walked straight toward the project department.

Seeing them, Xue Yang immediately stepped out and said politely, ”I don’t believe I’ve seen you gentlemen before. Who are you looking for?”

The young man in the lead said, ”We’re from the Military Suppression Bureau, here to apprehend a wanted murder suspect. Would you mind stepping aside?”

Xue Yang was completely bewildered. ”We don’t have any wanted criminals here. And what’s the Military Suppression Bureau?”

He truly didn’t understand a single word of it!
