[BL] Alpha, You've Got the Wrong Mate!

Chapter 262: 262 — Oh, My Love

When he came to, his eyes widened instantly, darting left and right.

Nothing looked familiar.

A cold feeling sank in his stomach. The room was too clean, too bright. Too quiet.

But the moment the sharp ache pulsed through his abdomen, everything returned at once—the dragon Liam was supposed to defeat, its tail striking him, the ground vanishing beneath his feet, then darkness swallowing him whole.

His breathing hitched.

With trembling fingers, he reached for his stomach. Sweat slid down his temples, dripping to the floor.

Fear wrapped around him all over again.

He forced himself upright, only to feel the tight pull of bandages around his head. He hadn’t even noticed them. He didn’t care. He swung his legs off the bed, trying—desperately—to stand.

His body failed him immediately.

His knees collapsed, sending him crashing onto the floor. A harsh cry escaped his lips. Pain shot through every part of him, blurring his vision, numbing his hands.

But he still pushed forward.

He grabbed onto the edge of the bed, dragging himself across the floor. He didn’t stop. He couldn’t. He had to see Liam. He had to know. Falling like that, getting hit with such force—there was no way it didn’t harm the small life inside him.

Even if it tore him apart, he needed to reach the door.

His breath came in shallow, panicked gasps.

”My Lord...” he whispered, barely audible.

His fingers slipped as he tried to pull himself up again, his arms shaking violently. He could barely keep his eyes open.

Yet he didn’t stop.

Because the only thing that mattered right now—was his baby.

Slowly, he walked outside the room only to find a familiar figure not far away in the hallway.

Liam stood in the corridor, facing a physician, arms crossed tightly. His expression was unreadable—too calm, too composed, too distant.

”You are certain?” Liam asked, his tone edged with impatience. ”No complications?” He tapped his fingers on his arms, impatiently.

The doctor bowed his head.

”Yes, My Lord. The baby is unharmed. A miracle, truly. With such an impact, I feared—”

”That’s enough,” Liam cut sharply. ”Leave now. And you better not spread some rumours,” he held the hilt of his sword, pulling it out of the sheath.

The silver blade glimmered under the golden glow, and the physician swallowed hard.

Yusha’s heartbeat steadied. A soft breath escaped him, relief and confusion all tangled.

So... the baby was safe. That was all that mattered. He could find out where he was later, by asking Liam.

But before he could even swallow that thought, the older man stepped away, leaving Liam alone in the hallway.

The moment the healer’s footsteps faded, Liam’s expression changed—darkening like a storm forming behind his eyes.

”Tch...” He clicked his tongue and raked a hand through his hair, irritation leaking out of him. His voice lowered, almost a whisper, but Yusha heard it.

He heard everything. Although they were words he wished he had never heard.

”I brought him out there so that damned dragon would finish the job,” Liam muttered, teeth grinding. ”One clean strike—and that thing and its existence would’ve been erased in one go.”

Yusha couldn’t breathe.

What... did he just hear?

His heart lurched violently, slamming against his ribs like it wanted to escape.

Liam—his Liam—had brought him there on purpose?

To eliminate... their child?

A sharp sting burned behind his eyes. Tears welled up before he could stop them.

A broken sound escaped his throat. Panicked, he pressed a hand over his mouth, shutting the door as quietly as he could before stumbling back toward the bed.

He climbed onto it clumsily, body trembling, forcing himself to lie down as if nothing had happened. The world spun, his head pulsing. He swallowed a sob.

A faint breeze brushed against his skin—the door opening.

Footsteps followed.

Liam.

Did he know? Did he hear him? Did he see him, lurking at the corner, overhearing him?

Yusha’s eyelashes trembled, but he kept his eyes shut, forcing his breathing to even out. Thankfully, he was lying on his side, facing away from the entrance. If Liam saw his face right now, he would’ve been caught instantly.

Liam paused near the bed.

The silence was suffocating.

Finally, Yusha heard him let out a slow exhale.

”Still asleep,” Liam whispered, voice unreadable.

He moved closer. Yusha felt the bed dip slightly as the alpha placed a hand on the mattress and leaned over him. Every muscle in Yusha’s body tensed, fighting the instinct to recoil.

”Useless,” Liam muttered under his breath, irritation simmering beneath the surface. ”It can’t even die properly.”

Yusha’s fingers curled under the blanket, nails digging into his palms until they hurt.

His stomach twisted—fear, grief, betrayal, all tangled together.

Liam straightened again. A rustle of fabric followed as he checked the bandages on Yusha’s head, his movements rough, impatient. He clicked his tongue.

”If that monster didn’t kill that thing...” he murmured, frustration oozing from every word, ”then I’ll have to find another way. Before anyone notices.”

Yusha’s blood froze.

Another way?

His breath hitched—too loud, too sharp.

Liam went still.

A long second passed.

”...Are you awake?” Liam asked quietly.

Yusha’s throat closed. His heart hammered so violently he feared it would shake his whole body.

He didn’t move.

He couldn’t.

Liam leaned closer, the warmth of his breath brushing Yusha’s ear.

”Yusha,” he called softly—almost tenderly, the way he used to. ”I know you’re awake. Stop pretending. You’re terrible at it.”

Yusha’s world shattered.

His fingers trembled, curling around the bedsheet as if it were the only thing keeping him from falling apart.

Slowly—hesitantly—he turned, meeting the man standing over him.

Liam’s silhouette stood tall, calm and cold.

Yusha pushed himself up, sitting on the soft mattress. Yet the moment he did, it felt as though the bed was swallowing him whole—pulling him into an ocean he had no idea how to survive in.

He didn’t even know how to swim.

And the man before him was the one who had thrown him in.

Yusha swallowed hard, his throat burning.

”Why are you doing this...?” he whispered, each word trembling. ”The child is ours, My Lord.”

”Ours.” He repeated, making sure to amplify on the word.

Liam didn’t flinch.

His gaze didn’t soften. If anything, they sharpened. He didn’t show the slightest crack of guilt nor pain.

”I can’t afford to lose my father’s favour,” he replied simply, as if that alone justified everything. ”But I promise you—” he reached out, his voice lowering with false warmth, ”I will give you as many children as you want. Just... not this one. Not any for the moment. Alright?”

Yusha stared at him, disbelief twisting into something darker. Tears flooded his eyes, gathering until they slipped down like thin rivers. His nose ran; his breath hitched.

He looked pathetic. And he knew it.

But he couldn’t stop.

Liam sighed softly, clearly tired of all this. Still, he pulled out his handkerchief with an almost affectionate ease.

”Oh, my love...” he murmured, stepping closer. He lowered himself onto the bed, sitting beside the omega. ”Don’t make it hard for me.”

The alpha wiped Yusha’s cheeks, then his nose with the cloth, cleaning him up as if he were a child. As if the pain he caused was a nuisance he had to tidy away.

Yusha jerked back, eyes blazing even as they blurred with tears.

”You don’t love me,” he said, voice cracking open like a wound. ”You never did.”

Liam stilled.

His expression didn’t shatter or flinch—but it hardened, the way someone reacts when something inconvenient has finally been spoken aloud.

”Yusha,” he said quietly, ”don’t force me to say things you will regret hearing.”

Yusha’s breath hitched. His fingers dug into the blankets, turning white.

”Regret...?” he echoed, almost laughing—almost choking. ”What could hurt more than this?”

Liam exhaled slowly, as if he were the one suffering.

”Yusha,” he repeated, softer, but somehow colder. ”Don’t push me.”

”But I need to know,” Yusha cried, leaning forward despite himself. ”Did any of it mean anything to you? All those nights—your words—your promises—” His voice shook violently. ”Or was I simply being used?”

Liam’s jaw tightened. That was the only sign of discomfort—barely visible.

”You were mine,” he said at last. ”Isn’t that enough?”

”No,” Yusha whispered, shaking his head. ”Not anymore. Not when I have your child!..” He shouted.

But the realization came with a pang of regret. He never raised his voice. Let alone in front of Liam.

Liam’s eyes widened. For a moment, he didn’t speak. Then, he clicked his tongue, irritated—like a man dealing with a hysterical lover who had overstayed their usefulness.

”This attachment of yours,” he said, reaching to grab Yusha’s chin between his fingers, forcing the omega to look at him, ”is becoming troublesome.”

Yusha tried to pull away. Liam tightened his grip.

”You are hurting me,” Yusha whispered.

”Good,” Liam murmured. ”Maybe then you will listen and do as I say.”

His grip loosened a second later, as if he realized his own slip. He smoothed Yusha’s jaw with his thumb, a gentleness that felt wrong—so wrong—after the violence beneath it.

”My father expects me to be flawless,” Liam continued. ”Responsible. Unburdened. A powerful heir.” His gaze flickered to Yusha’s abdomen. ”This child... complicates everything.”

Yusha pressed a trembling hand over his stomach protectively.

”It’s not a burden,” he whispered. ”It’s our baby.”

Liam’s eyes went cold—utterly, terrifyingly cold.

”It’s an inconvenience.”

The word struck like a blade.

Yusha recoiled as if burned, tears spilling again, heavier, messier.

He couldn’t breathe—couldn’t think—couldn’t understand how the man he once worshipped could speak with such chilling detachment.

Liam leaned back slightly, watching him with unreadable calmness.

”Stop crying,” he said gently, almost sweetly. ”You are making this harder.”

Yusha looked up, vision swimming.

”Harder for who?” he whispered. ”You? Or me?”
