I Contracted All Ancient Divine Artifacts

Chapter 297: Chapter 196: Mutant Walker No. 001

”This chief scientist of the Longevity Company, called Frog, still chose to inject the Deformation Potion into himself.”

”And you say he’s not crazy?”

According to the currently known information, the Deformation Potion by the Longevity Company is not injected at will; it requires pre-gene matching, compatibility testing, organ rejection, and blood fusion research.

After confirming everything is correct, injection tests can be conducted.

Even so, the mortality rate of injection tests is at a very high level.

For someone like Frog, who didn’t prepare and directly injected the Deformation Potion without hesitation, what else would you call them but crazy?

Of course, it’s possible that during the Age of Calamity, the research by the Longevity Company on Deformation Potions wasn’t yet as advanced or thorough,

But still, the fact that Frog survived, is practically a half miracle.

And precisely because he survived, the diary in Han Zhan’s hands continues.

[Year 125 of the Calamity, February 12.]

[I have discovered a new plant, which I named Illusion Grass. It can enlarge and shrink objects, and this ability seems to influence talent. It’s quite a promising research discovery.]

[I suddenly realized that I’m a bit obsessed with the microdust form. It’s like a new door has opened for me.]

[I decided I would start large-scale planting of Illusion Grass.]

[Year 125 of the Calamity, December 20.]

[Countless instances of body rejection, I feel the organs I identify as ”human” are rapidly failing, but my Life Energy and Spiritual Power are becoming more vigorous. I don’t know if this is good news or bad news.]

[The Human Alliance people finally couldn’t bear it and sent in a second batch of exploration personnel.]

[I saw the Longevity Company’s exploration personnel, one of my students. He was utterly shocked when he saw me, no, to be precise, I could read fear in his eyes. He was afraid of me.]

[I asked him some details about the Longevity Company and questioned why in 25 years, the company never sent anyone here. He was surprised and told me it had only been two and a half years outside.]

[The time flow here is different from outside, with a tenfold difference.]

[When I heard this news, my first reaction wasn’t anxiety or shock, but utter delight.]

[Who can understand a research fanatic who dedicated everything, including his life, to research?]

[I’m ecstatic!]

”He really styles himself as a research fanatic? But this title certainly suits him.”

Why was Frog so overjoyed upon learning of the time expansion within the City of Extreme Evil? The term research fanatic answers it all.

Over such a long period, he would have ten times more time than the outside world to conduct any research he desired.

And there’s nothing more delightful to a research fanatic than that.

”However, from the diary, his situation seems to have worsened.”

”The Deformation Potion hasn’t completely fused; the body is still rejecting it. Just thinking about that is painful.”

Han Zhan glanced at the few pages of paper left in his hand, feeling he had already foreseen Frog’s outcome.

...

[Year 135 of the Calamity, May 09.]

[Have I really gone ten years without writing a diary? Time flies.]

[When I look back at those diaries, there’s always a sense of things changing.]

[My student died last winter. That day, I happened to transform into a beast form, and his misfortune or perhaps his predetermined fate led to his end.]

[What will my end be?]

[I don’t know.]

[Well, since I’m rarely writing a diary, let’s skip the trivial stuff. Let’s write something else: Over these ten years, my rejection episodes have lessened, not because I’ve fully recovered but because I’ve completely transformed into a non-human ”deformed form.”]

[A hypothesis: the deformation will keep modifying me until I am no longer human, becoming a true deformed monster, and then it will stop.]

[Will humans turn into monsters?]

[This would make for an interesting experiment!]

[Year 145 of the Calamity, March 13]

[Continuing from the last entry, the side effects of the Deformation Potion are (extensively scribbled out)]

[Now I can finally conclude that as Deformation Walker 001, I will continue to live on!]

Looking at the content recorded on these two diary pages, Frog’s journal spans increasingly longer periods, and Frog himself has gradually transformed from a chief scientist, passionate about humanity and dreams, into a scientific fanatic, even a scientific freak.

At some point, perhaps he was no longer human.

”What are the side effects of the Deformation Potion?”

”Frog probably guessed them, but he scribbled them out, perhaps not wanting anyone to see them later?”

”Is Frog still alive?”

Han Zhan looked at the last page of the diary paper he had left.

Frog’s diary is finally approaching its end.

Opening the last page, the handwriting on this diary paper is drastically different from before.

The handwriting is more careless, more erratic, as if the person recording the diary has entirely forgotten how to hold a pen, how to write. It’s as if that ability has completely regressed.

[Year 150 of the Calamity, June 1.]

[It no longer makes sense to continue recording the diary.]

[I will tear them into pieces, they’re already the size of microdust. Even if scattered into the dust and soil, no one will ever discover these secrets again.]

[A month ago, I found a way to leave here and successfully entered that battlefield.]

[But I wasn’t accepted by it. When the passage appeared before me, I hesitated.]

[Perhaps now isn’t the time for me to leave.]

[I killed all the humans on the battlefield because the moment they saw me, they attacked madly and yelled, calling me an ”Alien Race.”]

[So this is the ultimate journey of the Longevity Company’s research?]

[I should transmit this information back, to more humans, more survivors, so they can be cautious of the Longevity Company and the Deformation Potion.]

[But why should I do this? I’m no longer human; why should I do these absurd and ridiculous things?]

[I was once such a weak and insignificant creature, but I’ve finally freed myself from the shackles of genes and completed my evolution.]

[The future belongs to me.]

[When the time is ripe, I will leave this place and return to that old world.]

[Wait for me!]

[— Recorder: Frog (scratched out), Deformation Walker 001, Dream Demon!]
