I Contracted All Ancient Divine Artifacts

Chapter 44: Chapter 44: Blue Mission—Exterminate the Bloodline

”Old Zhang, let’s make a deal. How about taking this ’noble son’ into your squad first?”

In front of Han Zhan, Xiao Ya tossed the ball directly.

Zhang Zuofu shook his head like a rattle drum.

What a joke, his team already only had two people left, bringing in another burden, can they even survive?

”No way, absolutely not. You said you’d choose first, how can you go back on your word?”

Xiao Ya looked at the other captains around, and they all shook their heads as well.

They were here to kill Snake Race, not to be babysitters.

”Damn.” Xiao Ya cursed under his breath.

No matter how displeased, this was the battlefield, he could only pinch his nose and recruit this ’noble son’ into his team.

”Come with me, hurry up. By the way, what’s your name?”

”Han Zhan, Tier Three Spirit Contract Master.”

”Hmm.” Xiao Ya responded, nasal and uninterested.

”I’m Xiao Ya, Tier Four Spirit Contract Master, and also your current squad leader. According to regulations, you will be incorporated into our squad.”

As Xiao Ya spoke, he turned around and headed back the way they came.

Han Zhan followed behind, keeping pace.

The two quickly passed through a dense forest to the place where Xiao Ya camped.

This kid, I was not slow just now, yet he managed to keep up. Some skill indeed... Xiao Ya was slightly surprised as he glanced back at Han Zhan, but said nothing more.

By the small campfire, two others stood up simultaneously.

These two looked just in their early twenties, but they were dirty and disheveled, with tattered clothes and many scars.

Han Zhan was observing them, and they were observing Han Zhan too.

When they saw Xiao Ya return with only one person, the two exchanged glances.

”Captain, what’s going on?”

”Only one person?”

”Could he have shaped his Contracted Spirit into something? Quite professional.”

Talking about the elephant in the room, Xiao Ya didn’t answer, just grunted, and explained Han Zhan’s situation to them briefly.

After hearing Xiao Ya, the two also had a bitter expression.

Anyone would be upset to have a burden on a high-casualty front line!

They only gave Han Zhan a simple self-introduction before losing interest and walking away.

The man was named Cai Shifang, the woman, Xi Xiaoqian. Both were graduates from the previous year, Tier Three Spirit Contract Masters and Contracted Spirits. They had been fighting on the front line for a year.

Han Zhan didn’t get angry because of their indifference; he only had respect for these Combat Spirit Contract Masters standing firm on the battlefield.

Thinking for a moment, Han Zhan took out three sets of armor from his Sumeru Ring, all crafted from the Tier Six Wall Crab shell from their last plunder.

”What’s this...?” They were stunned upon seeing the armors Han Zhan handed over.

”It’s tough being deep in the battlefield. These three sets of Tier Six Armor are for you to replace and increase safety.”

Facing Han Zhan’s goodwill, the two finally showed a little smile. Having armor on the battlefield was a significant advantage.

But Xiao Ya shook his head and didn’t take it.

”I don’t need it. I’m a Mecha Manipulator, no need for armor. Keep this armor for yourself.”

Indeed, he’s a noble son from the city, not only having a storage space bag but also Tier Six Armor. Tsk, I wonder which family he’s from, being so generous. Xiao Ya thought to himself and finally didn’t give Han Zhan a hard time.

Han Zhan barely integrated into the squad.

”Xiao Han, we’ll move tonight. Follow behind us and be careful. Listen to Old Xiao for everything.”

One’s hand softens after taking gifts.

Just now, they were indifferent, and now they’re already calling him ”Xiao Han.”

Han Zhan nodded with a smile, curiously asking, ”Captain Xiao said he’s a Mecha Manipulator?”

”Yeah, Old Xiao’s Contracted Spirit was sacrificed on the front line. For these experienced veteran Spirit Contract Masters, the war zone arranges ’secondary employment’ opportunities, like piloting mecha or retreating to the second line of the battlefield...”

”Old Xiao chose to stay. He said, even if he dies, it must be on the front line, not a disgraceful death at home.”

”He despises most those idle bigwigs. Sorry, I forgot you’re also...”

Feeling he said something wrong, Cai Shifang hurriedly shut up, but Han Zhan shook his head indifferently.

By now, Xiao Ya had already walked over from afar.

Each person received a bag of dried beast meat to replenish spiritual power, and Han Zhan got one too.

”Hurry up and eat, then we’ll hit the road. We need to reach the target location before 10 o’clock tonight per mission requirements.”

”What exactly is our mission?”

”Blue mission, Extinction.”

When Xiao Ya mentioned the name of this mission, Han Zhan nearly choked on his dried beast meat.

Seemingly finding the name awkward himself, Xiao Ya continued to explain, ”You all know about the Yexieqi Snake Race, right?”

”The Yexieqi clan reproduces incredibly fast. According to data comparison, their reinforcement rate on the battlefield is ten thousand times ours!”

”Even with a battle loss ratio expanded to 100:1, it’s still not enough to offset the reinforcement surge of the Yexieqi Snake Race.”

”That’s why, over a month ago, there was a stalemate between the First War Zone and the Yexieqi Snake Race on the front line without progress.”

But, over a month ago, the sudden strong return of Wei Qing, the leader of the First War Zone, broke the balance.

”Marshal Wei led the charge, punching through ancient times and directly breaking the Yexieqi Snake Race’s reinforcement supply line, jacking the battle loss ratio to a terrifying ten thousand to one!”

”With this massive blow from Marshal Wei’s Divine Soldiers Descending from Heaven, we were able to press our front line positions deeper.”

”However, this advantage is temporary. Once the Yexieqi Snake Race recovers, with its dozens of snake nests hatching eggs simultaneously, billions of Yexieqi Snake clan members will replenish the battlefield, and Great Xia will once again be embroiled in a bitter battle.”

The Yexieqi Snake Race is not without its strong characters.

Soldier against soldier, leader against leader.

Even though Wei Qing’s sudden move caught the Yexieqi clan off guard, soon, four Tier Eight Snake Emperors tangled with him.

The two sides fought fiercely, long leaving the battlefield to fight elsewhere.

The latest mission directive was issued by the Second War Zone.

They used the Spirit Contract Master’s talent to divine the locations of these several dozen snake nests and issued an urgent mission named ”Extinction.”

The closest and fastest-moving teams in each area are in charge of executing them.

For this reason, Xiao Ya’s team was also assigned the mission.

The mission coordinates indicate that they are less than five kilometers from the nearest hidden snake nest and can reach the destination before ten o’clock if they march through the night.

After explaining, Xiao Ya extinguished the fire on the ground.

”Hurry up and eat, we’ll head out under the cover of darkness!”
