I Contracted All Ancient Divine Artifacts

Chapter 18: Chapter 18: I’m Doing the Mission, You’re Racing?

”Are you crazy?!”

Bai Shuang looked at Han Zhan as if he were a madman.

”Didn’t you see the recommended number of people below? Six to eight people, at least two teams working together can complete it!”

”I know.”

”You know? You know and yet you still choose this task, you—”

Bai Shuang’s words were cut off when she saw Han Zhan already selecting ”confirm” on the electronic screen.

After pressing the confirm button, the system automatically prompts task acceptance successful.

The original ”available” status bar also turned into ”accepted.”

”You’re really crazy! If the task is abandoned or failed, ten percent of the task reward points will be deducted as punishment, you just accept it like this?”

”Let’s go, I’ll take responsibility if anything goes wrong.”

Han Zhan didn’t explain much to Bai Shuang, after confirming the mission location at which sewer entrance, he got up and walked towards the door.

Bai Shuang hesitated for a moment behind him, but in the end, she gritted her teeth and followed.

”The life signal was detected the day before yesterday.”

”Upon discovery, the City Guardian’s official conducted the reconnaissance record immediately, the threat level is Level 2.”

A threat level is an assessment of the Insect Race’s invasion level. When the threat level is between Level 1-3, it will be issued as a mission for points to the City Guardian teams.

Once the threat level exceeds Level 3, it will be defined as an insect calamity, requiring immediate reinforcement by Combat Spirit Contract Masters from various war zones.

If the threat level exceeds Level 6, it’s a true insect disaster, each appearance is catastrophic, requiring army-level Spirit Contract Master units to resist, but even so, it will undoubtedly be severely damaging!

Level 2 threat level means that the insect activities in the sewer won’t exceed Tier Two.

Not exceed Tier Two?

Then what’s there to worry about?

If such arrogant words were spoken by someone else, they’d definitely be criticized without mercy.

But he is Han Zhan.

In just one combat assessment, he killed more than a dozen Tier Two Insect Race.

It’s a pity Bai Shuang doesn’t know.

Not everyone stays glued to their TV, Bai Shuang should have just returned from the night dance field, like today, catching up on sleep.

So when Bai Shuang saw, Han Zhan and Xia Youwei, without any life assurance measures, directly jump into the sewer through the manhole cover,

She couldn’t help but rub her hair vigorously.

”I must be crazy, I’m actually here with these two, these two lunatics.”

Grumbling, Bai Shuang followed suit and jumped down from the manhole cover.

...

”Captain, the task of clearing the sewer insects has been taken!” At this moment, another City Guardian Squad from Deep Blue City stared at the screen in shock.

The large ”accepted” on the status bar had stupefied them.

”Who snatched our task!”

”Impossible, apart from our teams 0002 and 0018, whose members’ abilities reach Tier Two, who else in Deep Blue City could take this task?”

The man referred to as captain frowned at the screen, incredulously.

”Could it be that Team 0018 wants to go solo? After all, this is 300 points, if they can take it down, it’s like at least two months...”

”Impossible, if just their one team, taking down this task is quite difficult, moreover, their captain just confirmed cooperation with us.”

Sure enough, as soon as he finished speaking, the call from the captain of Team 0018 came through.

”Old Xiao, someone snatched our task?”

”When did Deep Blue City have such a character?”

”Let’s go, we’ll stake out at the sewer entrance at the mission location to see which team it is!”

”Exactly, let’s go!”

Just entering the sewer, Bai Shuang was hit by the pungent smell, making her sneeze several times in a row.

She saw Han Zhan and Xia Youwei not far ahead.

”Be careful, the life detector sensed at least more than eight Tier Two Insect Race, this is probably their lair! We slow—”

”Whoosh!”

Bai Shuang hadn’t finished speaking when Xia Youwei at the front already transformed into Fu Xi Guqin form, Han Zhan activated Opening of the Brain Domain, his entire body enveloped in a faint white aura.

With a powerful thrust under his feet, he turned into a black lightning, fully merging into the darkness of the sewer.

Bai Shuang: ”...”

Han Zhan and Xia Youwei’s speed was so fast, she wasn’t able to react.

If they were a bit slower, she might not even catch up to collect their bodies.

”Really born calves not afraid of tigers, those are Tier Two Insect Race, dealing with just one is daunting enough, I was indeed too naïve thinking they could have some world-changing ability, turns out they’re just reckless brutes.”

Bai Shuang had just sighed.

She then heard a sound like tearing fabric emanate from the deep, dark sewer!

The sound of the guqin seemed to rip apart the darkness, the sewer suddenly filled with various torturous and frantic howls of the Insect Race, one after another.

This situation lasted for less than thirty seconds.

After thirty seconds, Han Zhan and Xia Youwei reappeared in front of Bai Shuang.

Not only entirely unscathed, even their hairstyles weren’t messed up in the slightest.

”You... What happened?” Bai Shuang’s speech began to stutter, ”Finished?”

She asked tentatively.

She’d rather believe Han Zhan and Xia Youwei were feigning for her, than believe they actually took down eight Tier Two Insect Race in just thirty seconds?!

I’m doing tasks, you’re racing?!

Too surreal, surreal to the point Bai Shuang thought she was dreaming.

She slapped herself twice.

It hurts, not a dream!

”Yes, it’s done, why are you standing there, go collect valuable materials from those insect corpses, might sell for quite a bit.”

”After gathering the materials, go turn in the task, also, there’s a City Guardian’s corpse found in the depths of this sewer, must be the missing Guardian. Complete this task too.”

”Let’s go.”

After Han Zhan instructed, he patted Bai Shuang’s shoulder and left the sewer with Xia Youwei.

Left Bai Shuang who hadn’t fully comprehended yet,

Not until then did the bloody smell in the deep tunnel start to spread, Bai Shuang smelled it and shivered, coming to her senses.

Half an hour later,

When members of teams 0002 and 0018 arrived, the pungent bloody smell under the manhole cover was already very strong.

They entered the sewer, only to see the dark, deep tunnel filled with numerous terribly dead insect corpses, causing them to gasp in shock.

”All dead?!”

”A total of ten Tier Two Insect Race, two more than the known information, all dead.”

”Checked, all one-hit kills!”

”Captain, the task of clearing the insects just showed ’completed’!”

The two captains looked at each other, from each other’s eyes, they saw a shocked contraction of pupils.

What kind of monster completed this task?!
