High School DxD: Return of the Crimson Dragon Emperor

Chapter 552: Chapter 542: Despair Plunges Deeper

A truly all-out, super-final showdown... huh.

With the presence of countless entities pressing against my skin, I kept repeating Asem’s words in my head.

From the Three Great Factions stood the Devils, Angels, and Fallen Angels. From Greek mythology, the warriors of Olympus. From Norse mythology, the heroic spirits of Valhalla and the Valkyrie units. On top of that, forces from India, Egypt, and Mount Sumeru—every mythological faction imaginable had assembled here. Looking closer, I could spot Youkai, Dragons, and even Vampires. Word had it that some units were even mixed-race hybrids. In that sense, every single unit felt like a team unto itself, just like Team DxD.

Among this crowd, the most formidable were chief deities like Old Man Odin and Uncle Zeus, along with Transcendent-class beings like Sirzechs-san, the current Demon Lord Serafall-san, and Grayfia-san, whose power rivaled hers. Azazel-sensei, Baraqiel-san, and Michael-san were absolute powerhouses as well.

Then, there were the Longinus possessors. Gathered here were me, Vali, Sairaorg-san, Dulio, Ikuse-san, Cao Cao, and... Lavinia-san, was it? I’d never met her, but the magician lady standing beside Vali was probably her. She had an ice-like doll with her, and her appearance matched the description I’d heard. Man, Lavinia-san’s breasts are huge! What an absolute top-tier rack! ...Ahem, right, now wasn’t the time to get distracted by boobs. Either way, seven Longinus wielders were assembled here. It was rare to see so many manifestations capable of slaying gods all in one place. Though, the fact that such an absurd amount of military force was required just to take down a single guy was downright unnatural in itself.

Regardless, warriors including God-class entities packed both the land and the sky, surrounding Asem. Normally, facing a force like this would drive anyone into despair, but Asem merely wore a faint, effortless smile.

Asem spoke up.

”Whenever you’re ready. Come at me—or should I make the first move?”

A dense wave of energy burst from his body. The moment it hit me, chills ran down my spine, and a cold sweat broke out across my back.

This bastard’s power is increasing again...! Just how high is he going to climb?!

Azazel-sensei’s eye twitched as he gritted his teeth. ”At this stage, how much of Trihexa has that bastard actually brought under control? If he’s still got room to grow beyond this, it’s not even funny anymore...”

”Even after trading blows with him, I still can’t see the bottom of his power. If we don’t do something before he gets any stronger, we’re definitely screwed,” I replied.

I could feel a wave of tension ripple through everyone around us at my words. Right at that moment—

”Standing around hesitating won’t get us anywhere. If we want a swift conclusion, we have to strike, don’t we?”

With those words, Vali leapt forward. Wrapped in a white aura, surging toward Asem at the speed of light, Vali began chanting with intense force!

”I awaken! The White Dragon Emperor who shall cast the absolute law into darkness! Piercing through infinite destruction and the dream of dawn, I walk the path of supremacy! I shall become the pure Dragon Emperor—and bend you to the silver illusion and the pinnacle of magic!”

[Juggernaut Over Drive!!!!!!!!!!!]

Releasing a blinding light, Vali transformed into the Silver Supreme Dragon! It was the power of supremacy that had insta-killed the high-tier Grim Reaper Pluto—a power capable of felling even gods! Vali channeled silver energy into his fist and delivered a fierce, decisive strike!

Yet, without moving a single step from where he stood, Asem caught the silver fist using only a single hand.

[DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDivide!!!!!]

From that position, Vali activated his halving ability, attempting to cut Asem’s power in half, but no change could be seen in Asem’s strength. Even if divine status made halving difficult to apply, was even the halving of the Silver Form completely useless against him?

”I see. So his power is immense enough that halving it makes no difference,” Vali muttered thoughtfully to himself.

Tracing paths of light through the air, Vali unleashed a barrage of combined demonic power and magic artillery. Every single shot was massive and destructive. Lucifer’s colossal magic power, combined with precisely constructed spells, was a testament to Vali’s raw talent and relentless effort. Taking it head-on would deal fatal damage to even a God-class being, yet Asem remained utterly unfazed. The attacks did little more than lightly singe his skin. And even that minor damage regenerated in an instant.

As his wounds healed, Asem offered a smile. ”Yes, a fine attack. Straightforward, unlike old man Rizevim’s. Ah, comparing him to you might be disrespectful, wouldn’t it? But did you really think something of this level could reach me?”

”If something like this were enough to reach you, this battle would have ended long ago. I simply wanted to confirm the gap between the current me and you.”

”Is that so? And do you think you can defeat me with your full power?”

”Frustrating as it is to admit, doing it alone would be difficult, even at full strength. However—”

Just then, someone circled behind Asem. Twisting his body instantly, Asem caught the incoming attack with his bare hand.

The attacker—Sairaorg-san, clad in his lion armor—spoke up. ”We will shatter you using the combined strength of everyone gathered here. I’m lending a hand, Vali Lucifer.”

”Heh. I never thought the day would come when I’d fight alongside the next head of the Bael house, Sairaorg Bael. Has it been like this since the time with Issei Hyoudou?”

Taking a distance from Asem, the two men clad in golden and silver armor exchanged a firm nod.

Following his silver chant, Vali began to recite a new incantation—

”O Pure White Dragon dwelling within me, bring down the logic of supremacy—”

Over the silver armor that surpassed supremacy, obsidian black began to bleed in.

[O Silver Morning Star dwelling within me, attain the throne of dawn—]

In response to Albion’s voice, the radiant wings on Vali’s back turned jet-black.

”O Infinite God of Jet-Black—”

Ophis joined in, continuing Vali’s chant.

[O Dark Father of Devils—]

Sprouting from Vali’s back were six pairs—twelve total—jet-black wings. The shape of his armor transformed, becoming sharp, organic, and aggressive.

”[Accept our constraint that transcends the ultimate—]”
