This Life, I'm Raising the Right Man

Five days later, the temple was crowded with more than five hundred patients.

Su Yaoguang collapsed in front of everyone.

”Yaoguang...” Zhang Zhaodi screamed.

Others quickly rushed over.

”Make way, make way...” Zhou Wangshu picked up Su Yaoguang and ran towards Jiang Jing’s pharmacy.

At this hour, Jiang Jing was in the pharmacy preparing medicine.

”Jiang Jing, Yaoguang fainted.” Zhou Wangshu kicked open the pharmacy door and carried Su Yaoguang inside.

Jiang Jing quickly put down the herbs in her hands, rushed over to check Su Yaoguang’s pulse, and said, ”This is due to over-exhaustion, let her rest quietly, and don’t let her overwork anymore.”

”So foolish.” Zhou Wangshu said angrily, ”Not earning a cent, not only spending her own silver but working so hard.”

”Yaoguang is just that kind of person. It’s precisely because she’s so kind that everyone likes her so much.” Jiang Jing said, ”If it weren’t for her kindness, would you be alive, would I be alive?”

Zhou Wangshu: ”...”

Indeed! They were alive because of her kindness.

Besides the two of them, there were also those people outside.

If it weren’t for her, those people’s lives would have ended long ago, with no chance to reunite with their families at all.

Jiang Yihuan carried a basket of vegetables and bent down to pick vegetables in the field.

All the mildly ill patients were now in the bamboo houses on the back mountain, and she and Xiao Yanci had moved there too. Some people had gradually recovered and left the mountain, leaving fifteen people in the bamboo houses.

But even so, fifteen people had to squeeze into three bamboo houses, and they could only sleep on the ground. Jiang Yihuan also had no bed and could only rest next to Xiao Yanci.

”Boss Su is exhausted, we need to make something nutritious for her.” The two women responsible for cooking were in the field picking vegetables, discussing Su Yaoguang’s fainting incident.

”So many patients, and those patients have pustules, which are especially disgusting to look at, but she still cares for them with great patience.”

”Boss Su is truly a great kind person, a Living Bodhisattva! When I came over just now, many conscious patients were kneeling in front of the Buddha praying for her! The Abbot was chanting beside them, saying with the devotees’ piety, Boss Su will surely be blessed in everything.”

Jiang Yihuan listened to the people’s conversations, a look of jealousy flashed in her eyes.

Su Yaoguang is pretending to be such a noble person?

If the County Magistrate had given this task to her, she would have done it much better than Su Yaoguang.

Hold on, that woman is ill...

Jiang Yihuan carried the vegetable basket to Su Yaoguang’s door. She peeked through the window and saw Zhou Wangshu guarding by Su Yaoguang’s bedside, not moving an inch, a look of disappointment flashed in her eyes.

”What are you doing here?” Zhang Zhaodi came over with medicine and saw Jiang Yihuan sneaking around the door, looking at her warily. ”What tricks are you up to this time?”

”I got lost passing by here.” Jiang Yihuan said softly, ”Auntie, don’t be so nervous, as if we are enemies.”

”Aren’t our families enemies?” Zhang Zhaodi sneered, ”You better not try any tricks, or I’ll throw you into the back mountain to feed the wolves.”

”How would I dare?” Jiang Yihuan ran off with the vegetable basket.

Zhou Wangshu opened the door, saw Jiang Yihuan running away, and asked Zhang Zhaodi, ”Mom, what’s going on?”

”That girl was sneaking around here, I don’t know what tricks she’s up to. We can’t leave Yaoguang’s side, someone must stay to watch over her, understood?”

”I understand.” Zhou Wangshu took the medicine bowl from Zhang Zhaodi’s hands. ”I’ll feed her the medicine, Mom, you should eat something and stop overworking.”

”Okay.” Zhang Zhaodi said, ”I’ll come to relieve you later.”

”Alright.”

Zhou Wangshu carried the medicine to the bedside, helped Su Yaoguang up, put a pillow behind her to slightly support her body. He scooped a spoonful of the medicine and fed it into her mouth, only for it to spill out.

”If you don’t drink, I’ll pry your mouth open and pour it all in.” Zhou Wangshu threatened.

Su Yaoguang, unconscious, of course, did not hear his threats, and still did not drink.

Zhou Wangshu tried several times without success, hesitated as he looked at the bowl of medicine, lifted his head to drink a mouthful, and then leaned in to...

Su Yaoguang opened her eyes, saw the handsome face approaching, and was startled, instinctively throwing a punch.

Zhou Wangshu quickly dodged, the punch grazed past his face, not hitting the handsome face, but still brushing it. It didn’t hurt at all, it felt more like being teased.

”What are you doing?” Su Yaoguang looked at him with a puzzled expression.

Zhou Wangshu swallowed the bitter medicine, took a dried plum to eat, and said, ”Helping you drink the medicine!”

”Why did you drink it yourself if you’re feeding me medicine?” Su Yaoguang examined him, showing a look of understanding. ”Could it be you...”

Zhou Wangshu’s face turned red, his expression became uneasy: ”Don’t you think...”

”You were afraid it was too hot for me, so you tested the temperature first?” Su Yaoguang said moved, ”Brother Wang Shu, you’re so considerate.”

As she spoke, she pinched his cheeks.

”Such a considerate good man, I wonder who’ll be the lucky one in the future.” Su Yaoguang sighed and took the medicine bowl from his hands, gulping down the medicine in one go.

Zhou Wangshu: ”...”

Ha! Lucky she’s oblivious.

If not, it would be so embarrassing.

”Yaoguang, you’re awake.” Jiang Jing walked in, ”You really scared us.”

She checked Su Yaoguang’s pulse and said, ”Fortunately, there’s nothing serious, just don’t overwork yourself anymore.”

”Don’t run around for the next few days, leave the remaining tasks to us, you focus on recovering.” Zhou Wangshu said, ”Now that you’re awake, I’ll go eat, you girls chat.”

Zhou Wangshu hurriedly left.

Jiang Jing asked curiously, ”What happened with you guys, why did he act so strange?”

”Maybe he had... urgent needs?” Su Yaoguang replied, ”He must have watched over me for a long time, unable to leave because I was unconscious, so now that I’m awake, he’s rushing to take care of those needs.”

”Is that so?” Jiang Jing was skeptical, ”He could’ve just called out, there are plenty of people outside, with just a shout, someone would come to take care of you.”

After stepping out, Zhou Wangshu rolled his eyes as he heard the sisters’ conversation.

Urgent needs?

Alright, compared to letting her know the truth, the urgent needs excuse is better.

He had lost his mind earlier, even coming up with such a terrible idea.

All because of Su Yaoguang, she always reads those improper storybooks, and he caught a glimpse by accident, remembered that scene, and thought of using the same method to feed her medicine.

Luckily, she woke up, otherwise...

”Wang Shu, I heard Yaoguang is awake?” Zhang Yingdi approached, ”How is she?”

”Don’t worry, Aunt, she’s fine now, Jiang Jing is with her.”

”Amitabha, that’s great, that’s great, surely the Bodhisattva heard our prayers. Just now, hundreds of patients made vows to Buddha and Bodhisattva at the same time, all praying for our Yaoguang to live a long life and have a smooth life!”
