Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 2312: Chapter 2248: Oh, Give Me a Break

During this period, he clearly noticed that the elder couple had lost a lot of weight, but they brushed it off by saying they were just not used to things and would be better with time.

As it turns out, they hadn’t been eating anything at all!

And here he was... what kind of son does that make him?

If it really came to the point where both of them closed their eyes forever, and he realized they died from hunger, how could he live with that?

Yang Zhiqi’s eyes were red, and his fingers trembled a little.

”Why didn’t you tell me?” he looked at Meng Xinian.

Meng Xinian said, ”I was planning to tell you when you came back this time.”

How could he not say anything? He only found out after Yang Zhiqi left.

However, who would have thought that with Chiang Xiaoxiao’s arrival, everything was settled?

This matter, Meng Xinian wanted to tell Yang Zhiqi, so he would know why the Yang Family Elder greatly appreciated Chiang Xiao.

He should be aware of this, how could he not know?

If, in the future, other Yang family members get some bad ideas seeing the elder treat Little so well, it would be best if Yang Zhiqi could handle it himself. Otherwise, don’t blame him for being too harsh.

”Can they really eat now?”

”Didn’t you see just now?” Meng Xinian gave him a disdainful look, ”But Little said after being hungry for so long, they shouldn’t eat rich food immediately, so all the food prepared was quite bland.”

After saying this, he added with another jab, ”Like fried buns, for example, it’s best not to eat those yet.”

Yang Zhiqi glared at him.

After a while, he sighed deeply and then asked, ”How is Little Chiang so skilled?”

”Is my wife being skilled not good?” Meng Xinian huffed, ”She learned from Chen Baoshen, and besides, she often went into the mountains to dig herbs, you know that. I’m telling you, even if you’re my Alliance Officer, what needs to be said must be said. Little only has so many good herbs, using some means having less, so don’t go blabbing about it, or else everyone will come looking for her.”

”Wouldn’t it be better for her reputation to grow? I mean, with such skills, everywhere Little Chiang goes, wouldn’t people hold her in esteem?”

”As if!”

Meng Xinian’s face turned stern, ”Little doesn’t need it.”

Held in esteem by others?

How much trouble would that cause?

He was afraid she couldn’t handle the workload.

Besides, when he and Chiang Xiaoxiao went to Bai Gu Mountain before, and saw that tiger charging at her, his heart almost exploded. That scene was deeply ingrained in his mind, unforgettable.

If everyone came to her for treatments and medicine, even if she had it in her Space, to hide where the medicine came from, wouldn’t she have to go into the mountains more often?

Isn’t that enough to exhaust her to death?

He would never agree to that.

Besides, Chiang Xiaoxiao’s talent for painting would eventually bring her great fame. Isn’t she already gaining a little recognition?

That’s the direction she should achieve fame in.

Yang Zhiqi’s earlier comment was also meant to tease Meng Xinian, as he knew both his and Chiang Xiao’s personalities aren’t fond of such widespread fame.

Still, his heart was filled with gratitude towards Chiang Xiao.

He patted Meng Xinian’s shoulder and said, ”Let’s go, I also want to go and have some porridge.”

”You’ll probably just get to watch; Little won’t let you eat any.”

He knew how much Spirit Spring Water was in that bowl of porridge, given Little Chiang’s personality, how could she let others mooch off it?

Didn’t you see that Dai Gang got none of last night’s soup?

Yes, Yang Zhiqi is just like others.

Yang Zhiqi didn’t believe it.

”Little Chiang calls me uncle, surely she wouldn’t deny me a bowl of porridge?”
