Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 1813: Chapter 1749: Discussing Marriage

Old Meng was also quite curious about Ah Liu, but of course, he wouldn’t abruptly ask about his past at this moment. After some small talk, Old Meng said, ”I’m a generation older than you, so I’ll just call you by your name, is that alright?”

”Naturally.”

”Well, Han Chu,” Old Meng cleared his throat and said, ”to be honest, Xinian and Little, they were betrothed as children, an arrangement made back in the day with Little’s grandfather. These two kids are really destined for each other. Later, they met on their own and went through quite a few things together. Their relationship is stable now, and Xinian’s father and I have been thinking, Xinian is not getting any younger...”

Meng Xinian: ”...”

Grandpa, is this how you discuss it?

If you want to talk about marriage, just talk about it. Why say it like this?

In fact, what Old Meng said was quite normal. At this age, Meng Xinian was almost twenty-five, which indeed wasn’t young. People ordinarily would have been married by this point.

”... So we were thinking of having the kids tie the knot after the New Year. What do you think?” Old Meng said, ”I’ve picked two dates, one is the sixth of January, the other is the fourteenth of March. I just wanted to come over and discuss with you to see which date might be more suitable.”

”January sixth works.” Meng Xinian immediately said.

Hmm, he was quite satisfied with this date.

Of course, if possible, he would prefer January first.

However, the sixth would do.

When Commander Meng spoke, everyone in the room couldn’t help but look at him.

Chiang Xiao wanted to hold her forehead.

Why did she feel that Tyrant Meng’s eagerness was a bit embarrassing?

Luckily, everyone here was family.

Getting married on January sixth even felt too soon for her, wasn’t there less than a month and a half left?

In a month and a half, she would become a married woman?

From a girl to a woman?

Uh, is it the same for all women, regardless of how much they love the man, who might feel a bit hesitant at the thought of this change in status?

Meng Xinian held her hand, gripping it tightly with interlocked fingers.

His palm was warm and strong, instantly pulling back Chiang Xiao’s hesitating thoughts.

Alright, she had already agreed to him, so let it be.

Ah Liu frowned slightly, glanced at Chiang Xiao, and saw her hands tightly clasped with Meng Xinian’s, involuntarily sighing in his heart.

”Actually, in my opinion, Xinian isn’t that young, but Little getting married at just eighteen, always felt a bit early. She’s only a freshman in college, and I’m afraid marriage might affect her studies.”

”Well, that’s something unavoidable. After all, there’s quite an age gap between them. If we wait for Little to graduate, Xinian will be thirty. Not getting married at thirty, outsiders might gossip. Of course, it’s not like we’re afraid of what others say; it’s just that since their relationship is already so good, getting married sooner also has its benefits.”

Old Meng felt a bit awkward. They always thought that Meng Xinian was excellent in every way. So even though they liked Chiang Xiao a lot, subconsciously, he always felt she was somewhat marrying up.

But now being subtly disliked, it was quite a mixed feeling.

”Uncle Six,” Meng Xinian said, ”I can assure you, marriage will not become an obstacle to Little’s studies. I won’t impose any constraints or demands on her as a husband. Other than adding the title of Mrs. Meng Xinian, Little’s life won’t change at all.”
