Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 1749: Chapter 1685: Of Course She Dared

Chiang Xiao thought for a moment and asked, ”If it turns out that the artwork at the exhibition is not the creation of the person named, it would affect the reputation of the art academy, wouldn’t it?”

Wang Yi’s eyes widened, ”Of course. Every piece displayed at our exhibition must be authentic and have healthy content, as well as protect the rights of every painter. This is one of my job responsibilities. There are often some unknown creators who submit their works, and I have to verify whether those paintings are theirs or stolen from others.”

Even though she works at the art academy, it’s impossible for her to know all painters across the country. Sometimes when people send in paintings, she can’t immediately tell if they belong to someone else, so she definitely needs to verify them.

”Then, this painting, have you verified it?” Chiang Xiao asked.

”This...” Wang Yi’s gaze couldn’t help but fall upon the painting, and she replied honestly, ”Because it was sent by Teacher Liu, and it’s from your class, so I...”

She assumed that Liu Guoying and the art academy were already two layers of assurance.

Moreover, since it was the class where Chiang Xiao and Jin Lei were, Wang Yi instinctively felt that there couldn’t be any issue with it.

Chiang Xiao pressed her lips together and said, ”I don’t think Ye Wanqing could create such a painting, but I don’t have evidence yet.”

”What? It wasn’t her who painted it? Then who could have done it?” Wang Yi became immediately anxious.

If it wasn’t Ye Wanqing’s work, and once the exhibition was open, someone suddenly stood up and claimed the painting as theirs, it would cause a big problem.

Not only would the art academy and the art school lose their reputation, but Liu Guoying as Ye Wanqing’s teacher would also come under criticism.

Furthermore, this painting was supposed to be presented alongside the works of Liu Guoying and Chiang Xiao in the exhibition, so even Chiang Xiao would be affected.

At this thought, Wang Yi broke into a cold sweat.

Ultimately, she would have to bear half of the responsibility.

A single painting could potentially drag all of them through the mud.

”I don’t know who painted it, but it’s almost certainly not Ye Wanqing.”

Chiang Xiao’s gaze fell on the signature on the painting, which only had the word ”Qing.”

She remembered that Ye Wanqing used to sign her paintings with ”Wanqing,” not just ”Qing.”

Chiang Xiao’s expression was not pleasant, as she understood Ye Wanqing. Moreover, the evaluation of her came from teachers after two years of schooling, and now, after only three or four months, the teachers were still getting to know the students and wouldn’t understand Ye Wanqing very well.

The same could be said for Liu Guoying.

So now he could only see that Ye Wanqing’s painting had made significant progress, without considering another possibility.

Perhaps he never thought a student would dare to be so audacious.

But Chiang Xiao knew Ye Wanqing well enough to see that this painting was definitely not done by Ye Wanqing herself.

”Does Ye Wanqing really dare to do this?” Wang Yi gritted her teeth.

If this were true, they could all be ruined by Ye Wanqing.

”She absolutely dares,” Chiang Xiao sneered. How could Ye Wanqing not dare? But by herself, how could she have the ability to find someone to step on like this?

Surely, someone helped her.

Could it be Deng Qingjiang?

”I will thoroughly investigate this matter,” Wang Yi didn’t dare to be careless, suddenly feeling grateful that Chiang Xiao came in today to check on the paintings. Otherwise, in a few more days, this painting would have been photographed and featured in a magazine as promotional material for the exhibition.
