Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 1592: Chapter 1594: Life is Unpredictable

Xiao Fang pushed another contract over, ”When Qingqing gets married, that unit will be their wedding house. I want to live closer to her, so I’m thinking of buying another apartment. If anything happens, I can move there to take care of her. I heard real estate retains its value, so it wouldn’t hurt to buy another one. This unit is just 60,000 yuan—it’s a good deal. Take a look.”

She pointed to the part with the price.

Kuang Kanzhi glanced over; sure enough, it was 60,000.

”Is this unit adjacent to Qingqing’s?”

”Yes, it’s a two-bedroom, not very big.”

”60,000 yuan, plus Qingqing’s unit—do we have enough money?”

”We do,” Xiao Fang said. ”Otherwise, you could go check out the unit yourself.”

”Alright, I’ll go see it tomorrow.” Kuang Kanzhi was still cautious.

”Okay,” Xiao Fang replied.

The next day, he went with Xiao Fang to check out the unit. Sure enough, it was a relatively small two-bedroom apartment. However, the location and environment were decent. The person helping the owner sell the apartment had set a firm price of 60,000 yuan per unit. After thinking it over, Kuang Kanzhi agreed.

”After buying it, how about putting it under my name?” Xiao Fang asked. ”You didn’t mind gifting the other unit to Ah Zhu, so surely you wouldn’t object to giving one to me as well.”

At the mention of Ah Zhu, Kuang Kanzhi felt a twinge of guilt. He figured Xiao Fang was merely making a point, so he quickly nodded. ”Sure, go ahead. Where do I need to sign?”

”I’ll draft a document that serves as a gift agreement; you’ll just need to sign it.”

”Alright, alright.”

What was 60,000 yuan? He mentally chalked it up to being a gesture to acknowledge Xiao Fang’s acceptance of Ah Zhu.

Xiao Fang, seeing him agree, had a flash of light in her eyes.

Qingqing’s apartment was purchased quickly, and afterward, Xiao Fang took out another 30,000 yuan, saying she would use it to help with the renovation. That 30,000 yuan also managed to slip past Kuang Kanzhi unnoticed.

Regarding the Kong Family matters, Chiang Xiao had heard about them from Kuang Yunxian.

Half a month later, Kuang Yunxian found Chiang Xiao.

But this time, facing Chiang Xiao, he seemed a bit uneasy.

”I really didn’t expect...”

He wanted to say that he hadn’t expected that the woman from the Kong Family was her biological mother, but looking at Chiang Xiao’s calm face, he couldn’t bring himself to say it outright.

Chiang Xiao, however, seemed indifferent. She shrugged and said, ”Maybe that’s just how unpredictable life is.”

”Yes, isn’t it?” Kuang Yunxian sighed. ”These days, I’ve been visiting the old friends of my parents. Some are in the Capital, others are out of town. Once I track down an address, I go to find them. I eventually found an uncle who told me that back then, the deed for the adjacent courtyard was preserved, and even had witnesses. The buyers listed on the deed were my parents. Our family’s portion must have been taken by Kuang Huizhi. She won’t hand it over, but the original owner of the house is long gone. However, this uncle said the witness should still have a copy.”

Chiang Xiao said, ”So if you can find this witness, you might be able to retrieve the deed?”

Then it could be proven that this house has nothing to do with Kuang Huizhi.

”Yes, but that witness has moved several times. I’m still trying to track him down, but there’s a significant chance.”

”Kuang Huizhi has already been over several times, each time bringing some things over. I suspect she’s planning to move in,” Chiang Xiao said. From time to time, the sound of doors opening next door could be heard, and occasionally there were people coming and going. She could even hear Kuang Huizhi cursing loudly on occasion.

But she had already made up her mind: unless the matter directly involved her, she wouldn’t meddle in any of the Kong Family’s issues, including those concerning Kuang Yunxian.

”I’ll find the witness as soon as I can,” Kuang Yunxian said. ”Today, I’m planning to change the lock.”
