Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 1147: Chapter 1148: The Child is Yours

”I can’t help you with this, you need to talk to the Kuang Family yourself,” Meng Chaojun said, feeling somewhat exhausted.

Old Meng snorted heavily, ”Deal with the mess you’ve caused yourself! It’s simply humiliating!”

”How can I solve it? That woman has already abandoned the child and run away, what can I do? Kuang Hong will never accept this child!”

Duan Feian cried out in despair, suddenly jumped up, and said to Meng Chaojun, ”There is a way, as long as the child is well taken care of! Since you and Qingqing don’t have children, let this child be with you! Chaojun, you and Qingqing should adopt this child for now. It will be easier for me to see him later! I don’t mind if he bears the Meng surname in his early years!”

Old Meng nearly fainted upon hearing this.

”What a terrible idea! Why should my Meng Family adopt the Duan Family’s child?”

Meng Qingshan and others immediately objected, ”Exactly! What a joke? Has my Meng Family become so desperate that we need to adopt a child born to Duan Feian and some indecent woman?”

”Qingqing and Chao Jun indeed don’t have children! I think it’s a good idea!” Duan Feian thought more and more that this was a good idea.

After all, the child was his bloodline. He neither trusted nor liked anyone else to have him.

But he couldn’t divorce Kuang Hong, as a divorce scandal now would likely ruin his future, and even his father would be affected.

Additionally, he and Kuang Hong had children together; their children would be ashamed.

However, if the child was given to Meng Chaojun and Duan Qingqing, after all, she was his own sister and she didn’t have children herself. She would definitely take good care of the child. The two families were close, and later he could tell the child about his heritage, and remind him of his ties to the Duan Family.

Bringing up this child well could mean he might outsmart Meng Xinian in the future. Wouldn’t Meng Chaojun be happy to have a successor?

Unlike Meng Xinian, who only provoked him and focused entirely on outsiders, he truly was an ungrateful wretch.

”Chao Jun, you love Qingqing so much, and since Qingqing is my own sister and related by blood, then Qingqing and this child are also related by blood. By that logic, it’s not much different from having your own child, right?” Duan Feian eagerly looked at Meng Chaojun, ”It’s a good thing for your Meng Family as well.”

”What good thing? Duan Feian, you’re just coveting the Meng Family’s wealth by trying to push a son into our home now?” Meng Qingshan swung his walking stick at him.

”What are you doing? This concerns my sister and brother-in-law, is it your place to interfere? Don’t just rely on being the elder brother of the uncle to meddle in everything, this place isn’t your house!”

”What did you say? Everyone here is surnamed Meng, what does it have to do with a Duan?”

In no time, they began to argue, the voices growing louder and more intense, which woke up the child who was sleeping, and he began to cry loudly.

The sounds of the argument, the child’s crying, and Duan Qingqing’s shouting echoed in the ears, piercing and fraying the nerves of Old Meng and Meng Chaojun.

The peace of past days was completely gone; this place had turned into a battlefield.

Old Meng could no longer tolerate it and suddenly bellowed.

”Enough! Everyone shut up!”

All the voices fell silent at once.

The air still carried a faint smell of gunpowder.

Old Meng gave a bitter smile, how did things suddenly turn out like this?

Such a mess, nothing but chaos.
