Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 260: Chapter 260: Tyrant Meng the Fool

Chiang Xiao’s pupils shrank.

Such an expensive thing, and he’s actually giving it to her? What on earth is Tyrant Meng thinking!

She had already thought Tyrant Meng was crazy when she saw the hundred dollars, but now, seeing this necklace, she didn’t think he was just crazy—he was outright a fool.

She stood right beside Meng Xinian, so she couldn’t help herself this time, taking advantage of others being blocked from their sight, her hand hidden on the inside stealthily poked his shoulder wound.

Feeling Meng Xinian’s body tense up momentarily from the pain, she gritted her teeth and lowered her voice, speaking in a tone only the two of them could hear, ”Meng Xinian, I really shouldn’t have trusted you, you fool! Don’t you know how valuable this thing is?”

”Who says I don’t know? This was left by my grandmother, I know it’s valuable,” Meng Xinian slightly tilted his head, also responding in a voice that only the two of them could hear.

That little gourd was a piece of top-quality jade, how could he not know its worth?

But in fact, he had been thinking about giving this thing away for a long time.

There was almost no place for him in the family home in Capital City, he couldn’t stop people from going into his room to search, and his dormitory in the alliance team was no place for such private and valuable belongings. He trained every day and often had missions; he couldn’t wear it with him all the time, so nowhere was truly safe for it.

He hadn’t originally thought about the necklace either.

It had been left with a childhood friend, but not long ago, he had returned to Capital City and that friend hurriedly found him, returning the necklace, saying that his sister had accidentally seen it and then the news leaked out. The people from the Meng family couldn’t wait to find him, wanting him to hand it over, afraid they couldn’t keep it safe.

After meeting Chiang Xiao, Meng Xinian suddenly felt that this necklace, this little gourd, was very much like her, very fitting for her.

So spirited, clear, beautiful.

Therefore, on a whim while packing that bag, he stuffed this item inside as well.

After all, his grandmother had long passed away, and he had absolutely no intention of finding a partner, so why not give it to the Kitten.

And so, the item was now here.

”You fool!” Chiang Xiao was infuriated by him, once again feeling that this guy handled things with such dominance and force, always according to his own wishes and preferences, had he ever considered her? ”So many people know I have something this valuable now, do you think it’ll still be safe with me?”

Flaunt not your wealth, Tyrant Meng!

Meng Xinian raised his eyebrows, his gaze sweeping over the faces of the Old Chiang Family.

Indeed, he saw greed in their eyes.

He suddenly smiled, reaching out to ruffle Chiang Xiao’s hair, coughed, and said, ”This item is my engagement gift to Little. However, since she is still young, after the engagement ceremony, I’ll keep the necklace, and only give it to her when she... turns eighteen.”

”Since when do you take back an engagement gift?”

Unexpectedly, the one who spoke up was Ho Di. She stared intently at the necklace, saying loudly, ”Chiang Xiao is young, but we can keep it for her! When you two get married later, I’ll just bring it out then!” Saying this, she stepped forward, reaching out to press down on the brocade box.

With a snap, a second before her hand could reach it, Meng Xinian had already closed the box and stuffed it into his trouser pocket.

Chiang Xiao was truly disgusted by Ho Laidi’s shamelessness.

”Great-Aunt, don’t forget, you just said that last night, you had gone to the Patriarchal Great Uncle intending to have me driven out of our clan.”
