Transmigrating into the Genius Cannon Fodder’s Aunt

Chapter 111 Part 2 – Give Her A Taste Of Her Own Medicine (II)

Xia Mian laughed, then tilted her head with a smile. “Well, there is one thing… I’ve got a short fuse. I’m really bad at ignoring disgusting things, especially when they’re directed at me.”

Tian Xueya was still putting on an act, looking at Xia Mian with eyes full of sympathy and pity, as if her life were already ruined.

Zhao Cheng growled, “Are you f***ing kidding me.”

Xia Mian held him back, the corners of her lips curling. She glanced around, bent down, and picked up a stool, testing its weight and balance in her hand.

“I’m here to talk to you, Tian Xueya. I want to confirm something.”

The Class 3-6 students immediately fell completely silent, all eyes on the unfolding drama.

“What is it?” Tian Xueya was starting to feel nervous. She hadn’t thought much of Xia Mian, but it was the first time she’d seen Han Haoyan look so furious, and Zhao Cheng looked like he was one second away from punching her.

She hurriedly explained, “I don’t know how the rumor got so twisted. I just heard that right before school started, you were cornered by Hao Jian…”

“So you admit you were the one spreading it?” Xia Mian tilted her head. “But who said I came to ask you about that?”

“What happened with Hao Jian is true. I know that better than you, and I don’t need you to confirm it,” she continued, smiling at Tian Xueya. “After all, I’m the one who sent him to prison.”

“He tried to blackmail me in our first year, so I had him locked up for a dozen days. But he didn’t learn, came looking for trouble again, so I made sure he got a dozen years this time.”

“And not just that,” Xia Mian waved the stool in her hand a bit. “He hasn’t even made it to detention yet. Wanna know why?”

The boy who had run into her, still standing nearby, reflexively asked, “Why?”

Xia Mian’s eyes curved in a smile. “Because he has three broken ribs, fractures in his left shin and right thigh, and some internal bleeding. He’s still in the hospital—should be there another half a month.”

She looked Tian Xueya straight in the eyes and lifted her chin with pride. “I’m the one who did it.”

“Everyone in our grade knows I like to reason with people. But when someone doesn’t understand reason… well, I don’t go easy on them.”

Under that cold stare, a chill crept down Tian Xueya’s spine, “W-what are you going to do?”

“Nothing in particular,” Xia Mian said leisurely. “I just wanted to confirm something with you, Tian Xueya… how do you plan on repaying me?”

Tian Xueya found it baffling. “Why should I repay you?”

“Tsk!” Xia Mian shook her head. “I always knew you were scheming, but I didn’t think you’d be such an ungrateful backstabber.”

“What, you don’t believe I can take care of Hao Jian?”

At that, she turned to the people sitting beside and behind Tian Xueya and said, “Excuse me, could you step aside? I need to give Tian Xueya a demonstration of my combat capabilities.”

The students instinctively sensed danger and quickly backed away.

Tian Xueya watched in fright as Xia Mian approached, carrying a stool. Panic rising, she scrambled to her feet and stammered, “W-what are you planning to do?”

“To prove to you that I have the power to send Hao Jian to prison!” Xia Mian said, suddenly lifting the stool and swinging it hard down at Tian Xueya’s desk.

Amid the crowd’s screams, the desk split in half with a loud crash, collapsing on the spot and scattering a thick stack of books and worksheets across the floor.

Facing the fierce rush of air head-on, Tian Xueya screamed in terror and stumbled backward, grabbing at the desk behind her as she tried to escape. But Xia Mian spun and delivered a flying kick, her foot narrowly grazing Tian Xueya’s face before stomping against the wall behind her. Her shin pinned Tian Xueya’s neck, leaving her unable to move.

Tian Xueya’s legs went weak with fear, but the moment she tried to slip down, a crushing pressure bore into her neck in a chokehold, forcing her to straighten up against the wall.

The classroom went completely silent at first, then someone suddenly cheered in excitement, “Awesome!”

Xia Mian pressed harder with her leg and smiled sweetly. “Tian Xueya, you might not know this, but I started learning martial arts as soon as I could walk.”

“And my master said my bones are extraordinary and my talent exceptional. By sixteen, I could take on three or four grown men without a problem. Someone like Hao Jian? I could beat ten of him without breaking a sweat.”

“Now you believe me, right?”

Tian Xueya’s face flushed red from the difficulty breathing, cold sweat beading on her forehead, “I-I believe you, I do!”

Only then did Xia Mian slowly lower her leg. “Good. Remember to thank me.”

As the oppressive weight left her, Tian Xueya slid down the wall. Xia Mian helpfully kicked the stool under her, allowing the girl to land on it. “It wouldn’t be too much to call me your lifesaver, would it?” She smiled.

Tian Xueya was completely baffled. “What?”

Xia Mian looked surprised. “Don’t tell me you’re refusing to acknowledge it? There are plenty of witnesses, you know.”

When Tian Xueya was struck silent, Xia Mian let out a sigh and said, “Let me ask you—over summer break, didn’t the Thirteen Protectors corner you, and wasn’t it Han Haoyan who came to save you?”

This was something Tian Xueya had spread herself, so even without her answering, someone else spoke up for her. “Yes.”

Xia Mian asked again, “And when Han Haoyan came to save you, you had already fainted, right?”

Without waiting for Tian Xueya to reply, she turned to Han Haoyan. “Right? She had passed out?”

Han Haoyan nodded. “I carried her all the way to the hospital.”

Xia Mian continued, “And after that, she was bedridden for over a week, wasn’t she?”

“Yeah,” Han Haoyan nodded again. “I went to see her every day.”

“Even after she was discharged, she called you every day, saying she was scared.”

“You saw she wasn’t doing well mentally, and to comfort her, you spent almost the entire summer break with her. That’s the real story behind your so-called romantic summer, isn’t it?”

“Romantic my ass,” Zhao Cheng chimed in. “We all knew what was going on. We played basketball together, and later, Old Han couldn’t even come play anymore. She kept saying she was scared, and this guy’s just too nice. He had no choice but to keep her company.”

Only then did Xia Mian turn back to Tian Xueya and say slowly, “I helped get over half of the Thirteen Protectors locked up in the detention center. Don’t you think you should be thanking me?”

“They won’t be bothering you ever again,” she added. “Oh, and it was after you heard they were arrested that your mood finally improved, and you were able to come to school on your own without Han Haoyan, right?”

Tian Xueya finally understood what Xia Mian was implying:

Cornered by the Thirteen Protectors; fainting; bedridden; so terrified that Han Haoyan ended up looking after her the entire summer…

Around this time, Hao Jian was arrested for assaulting many girls…

Tian Xueya glanced at the surrounding gazes, and a boundless fear rose in her heart.

Yet the look in everyone’s eyes made it painfully clear: they believe it!

With Xia Mian’s combat power, there was no way Hao Jian could have laid a hand on her. Tian Xueya must have been the one who was violated, and she was slandering Xia Mian just to divert attention.

After all, it wasn’t the first time she’d pulled the same trick.

“I thought she’s getting gloomier recently…”

“Alas, no wonder Han Haoyan ignores her. Turns out he was just pitying her.”

“And she still dares say she and Han Haoyan are dating.”

“So Han Haoyan was just worried about her breaking down and kept quiet. The one he really likes is Xia Mian.”

“No, no!” Tian Xueya shook her head frantically. “It’s because of Han Haoyan that I got cornered by Fan Xiaoman’s gang…”

Xia Mian cut her off. “Right, she and Hao Jian were both part of the Thirteen Protectors.”

She looked at Tian Xueya with mock pity and sympathy. “I hope you can pull yourself together. Hao Jian and the others are all behind bars now—they won’t have another chance to do anything to you.”

Han Haoyan, normally gentle with girls, finally spoke up. “Tian Xueya, I only looked out for you over the summer out of responsibility. I’ve never liked you, and I never will. Stop twisting facts to mislead others.”

“No, no!” Tian Xueya suddenly screamed. “I got beaten up because of you. It was just a few slaps! Nothing happened. You weren’t worried about my feelings—you were just guilty!”

Xia Mian sighed. “Let’s stop here. She’s pitiful enough.”

She turned to the Class 3-6 students and flashed them a smile. “Everyone, don’t believe or spread rumors, okay? Don’t tell me you’ve forgotten the ‘Criminal Law’ I told you about. If I hear you spreading rumors about me again, don’t blame me for taking action!”

Someone immediately laughed. “Got it, we wouldn’t dare anymore!”

Xia Mian waved her hand. “Let’s go.”

Her friends followed her out.

“Oh, right.” As they reached the door, Xia Mian suddenly stopped. “Class 3-6’s monitor, I’ll pay for Tian Xueya’s desk and chair. Ask your teacher how much they cost and come to me.”

Then she strolled away leisurely.

The boy Xia Mian had spun around earlier looked dazed. “Holy crap, she’s so cool!”

“No wonder Zhao Cheng and Han Haoyan like hanging around her. If I had the chance, I would too.”

“Nah, you? You think you can compare with Han Haoyan?”

“No wonder the Class 3-3 folks don’t believe the rumors.”

…

Tian Xueya became a victim of her own rumors. Everything Xia Mian had said was from Tian Xueya’s own claims, and she confronted her publicly with hard facts. Tian Xueya’s own classmates believed it without question, and soon speculation spread like wildfire:

“She really did get messed up by Hao Jian, huh.”

“Most likely. Back in the first year, Hao Jian already liked her and cornered her a lot.”

“She was close to Hao Jian, remember? Back then, when she framed Xia Mian, she even said her info came from him.”

“Her temper’s gotten stranger recently… maybe it wasn’t just once or twice.”

“Yeah, and one time she was holding her stomach and looking pale. Don’t tell me she…”

“Whoa, her life’s over…”

Occasionally, some boys would show her pity and try to take care of her, but looking at their condescending sympathy only made Tian Xueya feel even more crushed.

Before the final exams, Sun Yuexin came with some news, laughing so hard she was bent over. “Oh my god, you guys heard that? Tu Xingsun actually confessed to Tian Xueya!”

“No way?” Li Lizhen was shocked. “That Tu Xingsun from Class 3-7?”

There was a boy in Class 3-7 with very dark skin and a short build. He wasn’t exactly ugly, but his figure left much to be desired. His grades were bad, his personality odd. He didn’t like to bathe, his hair was always greasy, and he smelled bad, so everyone called him Tu Xingsun.

1

“Him!” Sun Yuexin didn’t even know what expression to make. “I think the whole school’s going to explode.”

“He said stuff like, ‘I won’t despise you, I’ll treat you well forever.ʼ” Sun Yuexin herself thought Tu Xingsun was pretty awful, but…

“You guys didn’t see Tian Xueya’s face—it looked like she’d swallowed a fly. She was about to break down.”

Tian Xueya’s misfortune became their amusement. Normally, she was far out of Tu Xingsun’s reach, untouchable. But now he dared to approach her openly, believing that a girl who had been “tainted” was no longer valuable.

Such was the mindset of the era, one Xia Mian didn’t agree with. However, it was a reality that the world was harsh and unforgiving toward girls.

Tian Xueya knew this very well. Back in the first year, Xia Mian had clearly warned her of the consequences. Yet two years later, she’d chosen once again to destroy her in the same way.

Only now she was much more cunning than in her first year, thinking Xia Mian couldn’t catch her or hold her accountable.

Xia Mian sneered. People like this didn’t deserve gentleness—let them swallow the consequences of their own actions!

Tu Xingsun (土行孙) is a character from the classic Chinese novel Fengshen Yanyi (Investiture of the Gods). His signature move is burrowing through the earth.
