”Because no matter how many times you test my blood, it won’t work, since I am not from this world,” Yuan calmly revealed to Officer Mei, without a care for the consequences.

Of course, Officer Mei did not believe a word he’d just said and thought that he was just spewing nonsense.

The next moment, she tested his blood again, completely ignoring his nonsense.

Yuan didn’t say anything and silently waited for the results.

”Di! Di! Di!”

Officer Mei turned to look at the result and made a puzzled face upon seeing it.

”Inconclusive, again?”

Officer Mei could not comprehend what was causing the error. She had worked as an officer for over a decade and examined tens of thousands of people, yet she had never encountered an error like this before.

”I told you. I’m not from this world, so the system won’t recognize me, no matter how many times you try,” Yuan repeated calmly.

Officer Mei frowned and said, ”Enough with the nonsense. Do you really expect me to believe that? Just because you’re wearing some weird outfit doesn’t mean you’re from another world!”

Yuan shrugged.

”Then be my guest and keep trying.”

Officer Mei did just that, stubbornly testing his blood several more times. However, after failing for the tenth time, she restrained him again before leaving the room without a word.

”What? That weirdo you just brought in isn’t recognized by the database? How’s that possible?”

When the other officers learned of the situation, none of them could believe it.

”Are you sure you did it properly?” One of them asked.

Officer Mei frowned and said, ”Do you think this is my first time operating the machine or what? Either something is wrong, or that man isn’t in the database!”

”That is outrageous. Everyone is registered in the database at birth.”

”Some people may be unregistered if they were born in secrecy, but anyone absent from the database is considered nonexistent and would not be able to live a normal life, so they don’t stay unregistered for long.”

”That man looked to be an adult. Personally, I have never heard or met anyone who remained unregistered past their teenage years before.”

”There is always a first for everything,” said another officer.

”What should we do about him?” Officer Mei then asked, not even bothering to bring up Yuan’s claim of being from another world since she felt it would make her sound foolish.

”Learn how he managed to survive so long without an identification, and then register him.”

Officer Mei nodded before returning to the room.

”So, how did you make it to adulthood without an identification? Since you can’t live an ordinary life without being registered, someone must have helped you, which is a felony. If you tell me now, I’ll put in a good word for you, which might reduce your sentence.”

Yuan raised an eyebrow and asked, ”Why does everyone need to be registered?”

”Why are you asking me? I don’t make the rules around here. I just follow and enforce them.”

”...Well, I already explained why I don’t—”

”I swear, if you say that you are from another world one more time...” Officer Mei interrupted Yuan while rubbing her eyes in an irritated manner.

Yuan shrugged, ”Then I don’t know what else to say.”

”You little...”

”Fine. Don’t tell me if you don’t want me. I’m going to register you in our database now, whether you like it or not.”

She grabbed him by the restraints and carried him into another room, treating him like luggage once again.

Yuan found his situation quite humorous and decided to see how things played out.

A few minutes later, inside another room, Officer Mei placed Yuan into a capsule-shaped machine and strapped him inside before closing the lid.

The next moment, Officer Mei pressed a green button on the machine, activating it. Almost immediately, liquid began to fill the capsule’s interior, quickly submerging Yuan completely.

Despite being submerged in an unknown substance, Yuan did not panic and patiently held his breath.

One minute... two minutes... three minutes later...

Officer Mei tapped on the small window on the capsule and spoke loudly, ”Stop holding your breath and breath it in! It won’t kill you! And since it’s part of the process, this won’t end until you do!”

Hearing this, Yuan stopped holding his breath and started breathing, as weird and awkward as it felt.

’Oh? I can breathe in this liquid?’

As he started breathing normally, the liquid quickly filled his internal organs. Yet it was not painful, and it even felt a little comfortable.

”Di! Di! Di!”

The machine started beeping.

”What is it this time?” Officer Mei’s eyebrows furrowed into a deep frown as she checked the notification on the machine.

”What the heck is going on...?” she muttered in a dumbfounded voice as her eyes slowly widened with surprise.

[Warning!]

[Individual is already registered to a system]

[If you proceed with the process, it will override their existing system]

”He’s already registered in the database? That’s impossible! If that were the case, why was the machine unable to identify him before?” Officer Mei exclaimed in bewilderment.

She turned to look at Yuan’s handsome face through the window and wondered inwardly, ’What if it’s true that he’s from another world?’

However, that thought only lingered in her mind for a few seconds before she quickly shook it away.

’I must be going crazy to even believe his nonsense for a second.’

She looked at the screen again.

Meanwhile, Yuan was enjoying the warmth in his body when a familiar noise suddenly snapped him out of his daze.
