Supreme Warrior in the City

Su Yang glanced at Chaos; this person seemed to be very upright.

He directly told Su Yang that if his power was insufficient, the Gu Worms might backfire, which was something Su Yang hadn’t expected.

For most people, if someone was willing to help them, they would wish for immediate action, and they wouldn’t mention the dangers involved.

Yet Chaos had warned in advance about the risks, which clearly showed what kind of person Chaos was.

”What do you think of my power?” Su Yang enhanced his power and asked Chaos.

Feeling Su Yang’s formidable power, Chaos was also shocked. Su Yang’s strength was now very potent, even far greater than Chaos’s.

”Your power is comparable to the Great Saint Emperor!” Chaos exclaimed, stunned that such a powerful being would befriend the Human Clan.

”So, how about dealing with these Gu Worms?” Su Yang asked.

”Uh...” Chaos pondered for a moment and said in a low voice, ”I’m not entirely sure, but there should be a seventy percent chance. The Gu Venerable is not weak, either; against the Great Saint Emperor, he also has the strength to fight. Your power is probably on par with the Gu Venerable.”

”Oh.” Su Yang nodded, thought for a moment, and then said, ”Let’s begin.”

”Ah?” Chaos was taken aback, staring at Su Yang in astonishment, ”Are you sure about this? The seventy percent chance I just mentioned was just my own estimate. Even if your power is slightly stronger than the Gu Venerable’s, it’s not guaranteed that you can completely resolve the Gu Worms at once. If you fail and get backfired by these Gu Worms, you... you’ll be in trouble too!”

”Haha, I doubt that the Gu Venerable has such strength. Besides, I really want to see just how magical these Gu Worms are!” Su Yang laughed.

Chaos looked at Su Yang, his face filled with surprise and a bit of gratitude. He took a deep breath, cupped his hands, and said, ”My friend, we have just met, yet you are willing to help me like this. How could I ever repay such kindness?”

”Alright, no need to say that. From today, we are friends, and friends help each other; there’s no need for repayment.” Su Yang waved his hand: ”Retrieve your power; I’m about to start!”

Chaos looked a bit confused; does this mean he befriended a Demon Beast? However, this Demon Beast showed more humanity than many people!

At this moment, Chaos also felt a powerful force enveloping him, which was clearly Su Yang taking action.

Concerning their life and death, Chaos didn’t dare to be careless; he quickly withdrew his power and exposed the Gu Worms.

When Su Yang’s power touched the Gu Worms, he felt them merging with his power. Just as Chaos had said, the moment he took action, the Gu Worms began to counterattack, evidently preparing to merge with his power.

This situation puzzled Su Yang; according to Chaos, even if the Gu Venerable wanted to use these Gu Worms against others, it wouldn’t be easy and seemed troublesome. Then why did the Gu Worms immediately counter when his power touched them? It seemed the Gu Venerable could easily use these Gu Worms, so why did Chaos say it wasn’t easy?

Though puzzled, Su Yang dared not be careless. These Gu Worms had already begun merging with his power, and if they completely succeeded, his condition might be comparable to Chaos’s.

He exerted all his power to drive the Gu Worms out. However, to his astonishment, no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t force them out. These Gu Worms seemed indestructible. Even with all his power, he couldn’t destroy a single one, let alone annihilate them all.

Moreover, the Gu Worms even began absorbing his power. The aura of these Gu Worms gradually became similar to Su Yang’s. In other words, the Gu Worms were almost successfully merging with his power.

Seeing this, Su Yang was alarmed. He knew well what the outcome would be if this continued.

Without any hesitation, Su Yang took a deep breath and unleashed his full power.

The power surged into Chaos, knocking him unconscious. Using this opportunity, Su Yang summoned the illusion of Devouring the World, directly swallowing all the Gu Worms in the air.

The illusion of Devouring the World indeed held terrifying power. As recorded, nothing in the world is indigestible, and Su Yang witnessed the truth of this statement again.

Even with all his strength, he couldn’t destroy a single Gu Worm earlier, but now, all the Gu Worms were digested by the illusion, none could escape.

Su Yang was amazed; this was the illusion of the Heaven Slayer, indeed remarkable in power!

After resolving all the Gu Worms, Su Yang finally let out a sigh of relief, though his mind was filled with even more questions.

The power of these Gu Worms was much more fearsome than Chaos had mentioned. From his observation, even the Nine Palace Main God would struggle against these Gu Worms.

The Gu Venerable had such terrifying Gu Worms, he should be able to fight against the Guardian God. But why was the Gu Venerable fleeing like a defeated dog from the Guardian God?

If, as Chaos said, the Gu Venerable found it difficult to merge these Gu Worms with others’ power, the situation would be even stranger. When Su Yang encountered them, they seemed naturally inclined to merge with others’ power, which wasn’t difficult at all. Why was it so hard for the Gu Venerable?

At this moment, Su Yang began to suspect, could it be that the Gu Venerable couldn’t fully control these Gu Worms? Was the Gu Venerable not the true inventor of these Gu Worms?

Su Yang’s suspicion was certainly possible. If these Gu Worms were the Gu Venerable’s creation, he should be able to control them. If someone else gave them to him, then he couldn’t fully control them, resulting in his current situation.

However, if that’s true, the situation becomes more complicated. If the Gu Venerable isn’t the real inventor, then who is? Is there someone orchestrating these events behind the scenes?
