Reborn in the 80s and Remarrying an Officer, Let the Ungrateful Cry!

”Mom, you can’t go around saying things like that. You’ll be branded as superstitious in a heartbeat.”

Fu Mingxue’s words earned her a direct eye-roll from Mrs. Fu.

”Do I look like a fool to you? I’m only saying this to you at home, aren’t I? Or what, are you planning on reporting your own mother?”

Fu Mingxue: ...?

She had only said one sentence, and her mom had already shot back with so much.

”How could I? You’re my own mother. By the way, are you really set on going back?”

”Yes, I’m going back. No matter what, I have to dig up that urn. It can’t be buried with the Fu family.”

”Besides, your dad wasn’t even a true member of the Fu family. Won’t it be bad luck to be buried with them? With your dad’s personality, if he’s down there, he’ll probably get exploited by the Fu family! Old Man Fu and Old Mrs. Fu just passed away, won’t they go looking for him?”

Fu Mingxue: ...?

’Oh my god.’

’I never would have guessed—my mom’s superstition is pretty serious!’

’It seems I really can’t stop her.’

’Otherwise, she might just run away from home.’

”—Then let me think about it for a day. I’ll give you an answer tonight when I get back.”

”What is there to think about? I’ll go tell our in-laws today. That’s settled. Don’t worry, I won’t get lost.”

Fu Mingxue: ...?

’She really couldn’t feel at ease at all.’

”Alright, hurry up and go to school. Any more delays and you’ll be late.”

Mrs. Fu simply urged her to leave.

Fu Mingxue sighed.

’If she really goes, what am I supposed to do?’

’After all, I really can’t spare the time.’

”—How about this? My classes will be over in a few days. I can go with you then.”

Mrs. Fu rejected her outright. ”I don’t want to go with you. With your looks, wouldn’t you just attract human traffickers? It’s not safe with you.”

Fu Mingxue: ...?

Mrs. Fu said impatiently, ”Alright, I know what I’m doing. Just hurry up and go to school!”

Seeing that there was no point in arguing further, Fu Mingxue said, ”Alright then, I’m heading to school.”

She went back to her room to grab a few things, then pushed her bicycle out and left.

Mrs. Fu spent the morning tidying up at home.

She wasn’t in a rush to go to the Qin family’s house, waiting until after the two children had their afternoon nap.

After all, she was afraid that if she went in the morning, the Qin family would insist she stay for lunch.

When Mrs. Qin saw her in-law arrive carrying both children, she was quite shocked.

”You should have let me know you were coming! I would have come help you with the children.”

She must have been exhausted, carrying two children all this way.

She quickly reached out and took one of the children from her.

”Hurry, come inside.”

The rest of the Qin family were also surprised to see Mrs. Fu.

After all, they knew she rarely visited on her own initiative.

Since she had come now, it must be for something important.

After entering the house, Mrs. Qin put the child down first.

Then she quickly poured a glass of water for her in-law.

Mrs. Fu took it, had a sip, and got straight to the point.

”Here’s the thing. I want to go back to my old hometown to move Mingxue’s father’s grave. So, for the next few days, I’d like you to look after the two children here.”

The Qin family were shocked to hear this.

”Are you going alone?”

They knew Mingxue was very busy.

”Yes, I’ll be fine on my own. The round trip will take about eight or nine days—anyway, I’ll be back before the New Year.”

When the Qin family heard she was going alone, they were naturally worried.

But their in-law had said she was going to move Mingxue’s father’s grave—so they couldn’t very well stop her.

Mrs. Qin grew anxious, not knowing what to say.

After all, with the New Year just around the corner, the trains were bound to be crowded with all sorts of people.

Just then, Mr. Qin spoke up.
