Beastmaster of the Ages

”Among her warbeasts is an astralcloud clam. It’s the toughest warbeast of its level, having even more defense than cosmic god essences! There’s no way we can even make it budge! She even has dozens of phantasia dreamfiends, all of them savage and cruel!” Pu Lingyi heavily furrowed his brows at the sight of the strongest ashura in the lower ruins. All the other ashuras listened to her orders, including Dugu Yao, whom Tianming had killed. Pu Lingyi was terrified to see a phantasia dreamfiend near where he had attempted to break out.

At that moment, an entire galaxy appeared on the battlefield. It was the astralcloud clam! The clam opened wide and swallowed Dugu Meng before crashing down on the battlefield and charging toward the Ninelives Cave. Its body began rotating, causing it to emanate a piercing galactic glow and emit an ear-piercing sound.

”If Dugu Meng’s here, the primalwingers’ Jiu Zhigui must be around. Those two are much stronger than me and Jiang Feifei combined!” Pu Lingyi felt cold sweat trickling down his body.

”Pu Lingyi, hold them back! Don’t let them bring their forces into the cave!” Jiang Feifei howled.

”Fine!” Pu Lingyi grit his teeth and looked at the tens of thousands of enemy warbeasts and the thousands of Sin Pantheon primalwingers behind them. You were the one who made the wrong choice that doomed us! It isn’t my fault! At that thought, he turned around and said, ”This is a dead end! We have to break out of here from another direction! Survival’s our key priority. As long as we survive, we’ll have a chance to strike back!”

Then he absconded with the entire group.

”Pu Lingyi!” Jiang Feifei hadn’t expected that Pu Lingyi would escape like that and leave them for dead! ”You’ll be punished as a deserter!”

”Haha, foolish woman!” He didn’t give a damn. They would surely suffer heavy losses. Among those who survived, who would know that he had deserted them? He had a perfectly plausible excuse of wanting to preserve the precious talent of the Primordial Sands by not foolishly engaging the enemy.

Naturally, their enemies immediately took note of the escape attempt. Something flashed as a youth in black emerged near the astralcloud clam. He had a head of long hair and ghostly pale skin and sported seventy tattered primalwings on his back. Each wing had a different fiendish eye on it. He was Jiu Zhigui, known for his myriadform propagationwings.

”Meng, is that Jiang Feifei? The leader of the Primordial Sands?” Jiu Zhigui’s voice was cold and airy, sounding rather eerie.

”That’s her,” replied a young girl’s voice from within the astralcloud clam.

”Her ally betrayed her and ran off,” Jiu Zhigui said, smiling.

”Nothing but a ragtag bunch,” Dugu Meng said.

”Why’d they even bother bringing the Empyrean Yin-Yang Mirror here for enemies of this tier?”

”Let’s just kill them all.”

”Alright.”

They didn’t like to pointlessly blabber on and charged ahead with thousands of genius cosmic gods behind them, aiming at Jiang Feifei. Ahead of them were hundreds of thousands of warbeasts, and there were even more primalwingers behind them to finish the enemies weakened by the warbeasts and protect the ashuras.

The Sin Pantheon aside, the warbeasts alone would be more than challenging to handle. Jiang Feifei and her followers were in rather dire straits. The astralcloud clam and phantasia dreamfiends went after her, along with Jiu Zhigui.

There’s nowhere to run.... Jiang Feifei looked back and saw that, the moment their defense line was breached, they would be completely overwhelmed. If Pu Lingyi hadn’t left with his followers, they would have been able to hold out for a while instead of facing certain death. Everyone around her seemed rather crestfallen. Some of them might have started feeling like they had chosen to trust the wrong person, but unlike Pu Lingyi, they knew how important it was to put up a last stand so they didn’t flee.

The upcoming clash was still sure to end up in an overwhelming victory for the Eightpart Pantheon.

Pu Lingyi turned back and saw Jiang Feifei swallowed up by the wave of warbeasts. Where’s that usual arrogant attitude? Hehehe...! Not only did he not feel any sympathy, he even seemed to relish in her predicament somewhat. After all, the result gave him the justification he needed to explain his actions. He continued running faster and faster as the sounds of battle raged on from behind.

Jiang Feifei and her followers were fighting in the depths of the warbeast wave, each of them fending off the bites of dozens of beasts at any given moment. It didn’t take long before they were being turned into cosmic god essences one after another.

”Sis Feifei....” They watched as she single-handedly fought the astralcloud clam and Jiu Zhigui, still not giving up.

”Would the situation be better if Lin Chaoge and the others were around?” They felt quite perplexed.

”Was she really wrong?” There was nothing they could do but entertain hypotheticals after they were turned into essence form and taken captive.

Jiang Feifei didn’t even have time to think as she fought with all she had. It was only a matter of time before she was defeated.

I need to hold on.... She had ferociously fought and killed hundreds of cosmic godbeasts, covered in blood from head to toe. Right as she truly despaired, a monochrome pillar came crashing down from the sky, illuminating the entire battlefield in an instant!

”What?!” Jiu Zhigui and the astralcloud clam turned and looked right as the pillar directly struck the primalwinger!

”Aaaaaaagh!” Jiu Zhigui was instantly reduced to essence form, ridding the battlefield of the most evil primalwinger. The pillar of light also evaporated a thousand warbeasts nearby; the display of absolute power had cut off the entire flow of battle. Everyone, Jiang Feifei included, blankly looked at the sky as three masked figures descended. One of the women wielded the Empyrean Yin-Yang Mirror!

”They’re back with the godshaker-class cosmic relic!” The disciples of the Primordial Sands immediately cheered and Jiang Feifei teared up with jubilation. The whole battle had turned around!

”What’s that sound?” Pu Lingyi’s body shook as he turned back and watched Jiu Zhigui being vaporized. Then the three purple figures joined the fray while Pu Lingyi watched on, frozen.

”What do we do now? Do we still escape?” someone awkwardly asked.
