Beastmaster of the Ages

”You fought hard today, but unfortunately for you, I will always be the mountain that you will never climb! Accept your fate, Suishen Yao! Face it, your fate is in my hands! Haha...!” Yumo Xue laughed, but the ten trillion baleful souls on his body wailed in anguish. They couldn’t control themselves, except to struggle amid his astrons, their resentment used to trouble the totems formed by her vita and terra. Starblood gave him the means to restrain House Suishen.

Suishen Yao risked everything. However, the bottomless resentment took advantage of her emotions, causing her and her totems to spiral into an illusion of misery and death. She could no longer hear Yumo Xue; all that was left were countless figures of baleful souls, their hands reaching out to her, crying and wailing as they pulled at her. They crawled onto her totems, weighing them down so it was hard for her to swing her sword. It was as if she had sunk into a swamp. It didn’t matter how fierce her sword ki was.

”I....” In the confusion, Suishen Yao seemed to have bitten her tongue. But right before she regained her senses, Yumo Xue hit her with a punch from behind.

Like a meteor, she went flying through the air and crashed onto the Fortuna Arena. The force of impact was so great it shook the entire arena. Just as everyone had expected, Suishen Yao couldn’t break Yumo Xue’s foundation fortress or do any real damage. Failure to do so meant that she would be defeated with just one hit.

She had almost succeeded several times, but the gold myriadpath ring on her hand lit up the moment her body smashed onto the arena which was quickly unsealed, indicating that it had already decided that she was the loser.

She had lost.

The Fortuna Arena was still shaking, but the audience was silent. Many people were speechless. But the result was as they had expected. Reality was cruel; the miracle that they had hoped for hadn’t appeared.

”She fought well.”

”She didn’t disgrace House Suishen.”

”In fact, Eminent Ranxing and the others weren’t as outstanding as she is at her age.”

”Yes, Eminent Ranxing was about six hundred years old when he reached the second level of the Foundation stage.”

”She did her best, but this means that there’s no hope for her and Pathkeeper Li.”

”How unfortunate....”

Many myriadpath cultivators exchanged glances, their eyes filled with pity for Tianming and Suishen Yao.

In the Fortuna Arena, Yumo Xue took a deep breath after defeating his opponent with just one punch, his blood still surging. ”Haha, you’re so annoying.” He coldly looked at Suishen Yao, unable to hold back a sarcastic laugh. ”I hope you like the man I chose for you.”

Suishen Yao jumped to her feet. There was still pink blood at the corners of her mouth and her shaking hand still held on tightly to her sword. Although cosmoforce still surged through the sword, the myriadpath ring had already determined everything. That was how duels were fought in the Fortuna Arena. If it were a real life-and-death battle, Suishen Yao would still have a chance, but the fight was over according to the rules of the arena.

After being defeated, Yumo Lingyue had been crippled because she’d sneaked an attack. This was the end.

The silence was deafening and the pitying gazes of the audience spoke volumes. Suishen Yao couldn’t help but take a step back as a sudden surge of pain wracked her internal organs.

”Yaoyao,” Eminent Jiguang called from behind.

When she turned around, she saw her most beloved aunt. Next to her were Tianming, Suishen Zhao, and Suishen Shuang. She let out a long breath, not knowing how to face them. So she turned around, suppressed the anger, unwillingness, and the impulse to commit suicide, making an effort to move her feet toward them. It was only a short distance, but it seemed to take forever.

Eminent Jiguang’s countenance was filled with pity. The failure had also hit her hard. Unable to control her emotions, Eminent Jiguang’s eyes turned red before Suishen Yao could shed tears.

”It’s alright, sis!” Suishen Zhao said, gritting his teeth. He was furious. He had never seen his sister try so hard; it was obvious how much she wanted to be in control of her own fate.

”Let’s go home.” Eminent Jiguang opened her arms. Perhaps a comforting embrace was the only thing that could make the younger girl feel better.

Suishen Yao’s nose turned red. As she walked toward her aunt, her mind underwent complex changes. When she was about halfway there, she grit her teeth, her gaze resolute once more. She no longer faced Eminent Jiguang, but looked at Tianming instead.

They met, eye to eye. At this moment, with everyone still watching, Suishen Yao approached Tianming and burst into tears. The spectators stared with wide eyes and exclaimed! They watched Suishen Yao go up to him and, without a word, reach out and hug him. Then, pressing her face into his chest, she wept, her tears soaking Tianming’s clothes. Perhaps she could no longer control her emotions, but she silently cried, trying very hard to hold it all in.

Tianming didn’t know why she had gone to him instead of Eminent Jiguang at this time. But as a gentleman, he embraced the Little Demon Lord and gently patted her on the back in her moment of vulnerability. After all, he couldn’t just stiffly stand there while she hugged him, right?

Suishen Yao had a faint fragrance on her body that Tianming had grown familiar with after eight months in the Soulblend Formation. The two of them stood on the Fortuna Arena, ignoring everyone else. Such a scene naturally caused a ripple in the hearts of the watching cultivators.

”Alas!”

”Fate makes fools of people.”

”What on earth are the eminents of House Suishen thinking?”

Many people burst out with dissatisfaction. The love between Suishen Yao and Tianming was deep and real, which naturally touched their hearts.

But Tianming knew that Suishen Yao had something to say to him. She only cried because she was emotional and failed to hold back the tears, so she borrowed his shoulder.

After a while, she finally suppressed her emotions and looked up at him with red eyes.
