Beastmaster of the Ages

There was a good reason that Taixi City was considered unconquerable. The ebons rested well in their cozy subterranean world, spending tens of millions of years breeding and feeding nova wildbeasts of all kinds for moments just like these.

”Accelerate and advance faster!”

”The only way we stand a chance of taking out Taixi City is to get there swiftly! We can’t let the wildbeasts hold us back!”

”Have the ether-class ships pave a path!” The ether-class ships’ blasts cleared away tens of millions of wildbeasts, allowing the other ships to follow in their wake.

”The Gladean Ruins will be following in our tracks. What if they attack us from behind?”

”No need to worry. The first rex mundi is with us. She’ll kill Lin Xiaodao and take the Gladean Ruins!”

”That’s right! Trust the rex mundi and advance!”

The fleet of three million ships was fully committed and had no path of retreat. More and more pathways of bloody carcasses were carved out by the ships’ blasts. But in the expansive subterranean part of Ebonia, the fleet of three million didn’t look that large at all. They continued relying on nova source blasts to clear the way, and eventually, the red defensive formation of Taixi City was visible on the horizon.

”I see it!”

”We’re almost there!”

”Kill! Keep it up!”

The astral gods fought alongside divine astralships. When they finally saw their destination, the army of the Infinitum Bodhimanda got even more pumped. The ebons were sending wildbeasts to attack the bases of the clans up above; if they didn’t call them back to defend Taixi City, all they’d find when they returned would be the corpses of their wives and children! Time was life! Courage was victory! Fear was absolute loss!

”Die!” The three million ships attacked with wild abandon. Soon, they reached the top of the city and assembled into neat rows, blocking off the wildbeasts that were coming from behind as they turned to face the city. The ebons within activated their defensive formation to the highest extent.

Countless top-tier warbeasts gathered within at the beckoning of the ebons. They also launched many divine astralships, all of them ready to blast away at the fleet. At the same time, a black-and-gold two-headed dragon emerged from the sea of beasts like their ruler, radiating absolute might.

An odd thing was happening, however. Only a few wildbeasts bothered to attack the Gladean Ruins, a sign that most of the beasts around it were warbeasts that had submitted to ebons rather than untamed wildbeasts.

”That must mean that Lin Xiaodao is on the ebons’ side!”

”This is a disaster!”

”What will happen if the Gladean Ruins attack us from behind?!”

”Should we stick to attacking Taixi City?”

”Don’t panic! Trust the rex mundi! She hasn’t shown up yet, so she must have a plan! Focus on our attack!” Only their faith in Yi Daiyan was able to carry them through this battle with enough morale.

”Prepare for the final engagement!” The astral gods and divine astralships had all received the order to attack.

Just then, a loud, booming sound could be heard from behind the fleet.

”The ebons blew up the path behind us! It’s gone!”

”If the attack fails, it’ll be even harder to retreat! We’ll have to blast another way out of here! Do we even have enough reserve power for that?”

The move had definitely caused quite a few people to panic. And it was all before the Gladean Ruins had even made a move. The threat of the ship still hung in the air.

Within Taixi City, the ebons cheered at the sight of the Gladean Ruins.

”They got caught in the middle!”

”The rex mundi truly is wise! Our enemy didn’t think we’d ally with the Swordgod Lin Clan just because of our grudge!”

”Yi Daiyan’s so naive! Does she think that her personal strength will overcome her careless and unstrategic use of troops? They were set up for failure!”

The ebons in Taixi City were filled with fighting spirit, but the presence of an infinitum-class ship like the Gladean Ruins had the opposite effect on the morale of the ebons and the army of the Infinitum Bodhimanda.

At the moment of crisis, Yi Daiyan’s voice rang in the ear of every soldier. ”Commence the attack on Taixi City! Kill!” Those words alone were enough to shut down all doubts, inspiring the soldiers to fight without regard to the threat behind them.

......

”The underground path’s been sabotaged and there’s another incoming wave of ten trillion wildbeasts approaching Taixi City. Coupled with the Gladean Ruins attacking them from behind, their fleet of three million ships is as good as gone,” Shenxi Xuanxi said to Shenxi Xingtian. The Ebonfiend had just left Ebonopolis and emerged from a subterranean pathway to the surface. It swiftly cruised along without much commotion. And even if it was discovered, there was nothing to stop it after Yi Daiyan had mobilized most of her forces to attack Taixi City.

Shenxi Xingtian stood in the left eye of the head-like Ebonfiend, watching as countless wildbeasts rose from the abyss to the surface. There were so many of them that the ground shook as they swarmed out, trampling every tree, river, and mountain in the vicinity. The sight of wildbeasts overwhelming the land was one he had dreamed of for ages.

”Hahahaha....” He couldn’t resist spreading his arms. His skull-like face began eerily cackling. ”After losing far too much, I’ll finally win for once. Yi Daiyan, enjoy the nightmare I’ve lived all this time. It’s fine if you underestimate me, but underestimating the stupidly lucky Swordgod Lin Clan folk will be your fatal mistake.”

He clutched the transmission stone and contacted Shenxi Xuanxi. ”You can start the counterattack on your end. I’m starting the operation on my end as well. Ebonia will burn! Yi Daiyan’s heart will burn!”

”You’re going to attack the Greenhill Yushan Clan with the bloodline wisteria first while the other three infinitum-class warbeasts attack the Yishker Clan, Central Shuntian Clan, and the sanctlighters, right?” she asked.
