Shut Up, Malevolent Dragon! I Don’t Want to Have Any More Children With You

Vol 8. Chapter 76: Mother Will Always Love You

Blazing Sun Clan border, mountain-range forest.

Even though this region lay in the southern part of the continent of Samael, autumn had come, and swathes of leaves over the forest were already turning yellow and falling away.

The journey here for Leon and the others had not been smooth.

“Rrraah—!!”

A massive dangerous-class beast crashed to the ground with a thunderous impact, faint traces of golden light still flickering across its hide. Its entire form looked strangely solitary.

Leon dropped lightly from the sky, walked up to the beast, crouched down, and made a quick examination. Then he spoke:

“...Confirmed.”

He exhaled, looked around the area, and continued:

“This is a type of dangerous beast we’ve never encountered before—and it’s stronger than any we’ve fought previously.”

Rosvisser’s voice sounded from behind.

“So this is what your Blazing Sun scholars mentioned during the solar eclipse observation gathering—the ancient dangerous beasts that were sealed deep beneath the continent by the sun’s power, now awakening?”

Orion answered next:

“Yes. The sun is about to go out completely. These ancient dangerous species are starting to wake. Their temperaments are far more violent, and fighting them is more troublesome than dealing with any modern dangerous-class beast.”

But troublesome was relative.

Two of the three in this small team had saved the world more than once; no matter how troublesome these ancient beasts were, the most it would cost them was a few extra strikes.

Leon dusted off his hands.

“All right, let’s keep moving. We’re close now, right?”

Orion nodded and stepped forward, lifting a hand toward an ancient towering tree not far ahead.

“Yes. That’s the place.”

“Mm. Let’s go take a look.”

The three jogged forward and soon arrived beneath the ancient tree.

Leon looked up and couldn’t help but marvel:

“This tree... it must be unbelievably old. How many years would something like this take to grow?”

“At least several centuries,” Rosvisser replied.

Her gaze shifted to Orion.

“Did your teacher ever mention this place to you?”

Orion shook her head.

“Never. But I’m certain—the final coordinate in the series she left leads here.”

“I see...”

Rosvisser lowered her eyes for a moment, thinking, then said:

“Then let’s search the area around this tree. There should be something here.”

“No problem.”

They immediately began circling the massive trunk, searching.

But the light was too dim, and fallen maple leaves carpeted everything. Aside from leaves, they could barely distinguish anything at all.

Leon rubbed his eyes and glanced upward.

A third of the sun had already gone dark.

“...This is bad,” he murmured. “Much faster than we expected.”

“At this rate, by tomorrow evening, the sun will be completely extinguished.”

Only twenty-four hours remained.

In those twenty-four hours, they needed to find more clues Cloti left regarding the Golden Helm;

Constantine was waiting for Wuconstantine’s return at the Red Flame Dragon Clan;

Each clan had to handle the awakening of ancient dangerous beasts;

And that still didn’t account for the chain of disasters from the sun going out.

...

It felt as if the entire world had fallen into chaos in just three days.

And throughout these three days, Leon had been actively avoiding one question.

Why had the sun suddenly begun to extinguish?

The gods had already purified it—Hera had even left the Golden Helm specifically to reignite the sun. So how could this have happened without warning?

If it were natural decay over millennia—that would make sense.

But what if someone had done something to accelerate the sun’s extinction?

That thought had flickered through Leon’s mind only once.

He did not dare to chase it.

And he had no time to chase it.

Right now, all that mattered was solving the crisis in front of them.

The rest... could wait until dawn...

—

“Mr. Leon! Lady Rosvisser! I found something!”

Orion’s voice came from behind the tree.

Leon and Rosvisser answered instantly and ran to her.

She was crouched at the tree’s base, digging something out from beneath the roots.

They moved beside her.

And the object buried beneath the ancient tree slowly emerged...

—

“A memory stone?”

Rosvisser spoke. “Is it something your teacher left?”

“I’m not certain. But if it’s a memory stone, then it must contain recorded images or sound from the past.”

As she spoke, Orion placed the stone on the ground and infused a small amount of magic into it.

A soft green light projected outward, forming an image.

In the image stood none other than Orion’s teacher—Cloti Pyx.

“Teacher...”

Tears shimmered in Orion’s blue eyes.

After so many years, seeing her adoptive mother again overwhelmed her.

The same gentle, warm woman stood there quietly—as if she had never left Orion at all.

The memory began to play.

Cloti opened her eyes slowly.

Those sky-blue eyes were the same as Orion’s.

She spoke softly:

“This is a recording I left before my death. I hope the first person to find it is my student—no... my daughter, Orion.”

A faint smile touched her lips.

“If it isn’t her, I ask the one viewing this to please deliver my message to her. Thank you.”

She nodded slightly to the recording’s view, then continued:

“My name is Cloti Pyx. In the Year 1530 of the Creation Era, I followed the guidance left by Forebear Apollo and went to the vault where my clan keeps the Golden Helm. In that vault, I activated the Soul-Sight Resonance left in the Golden Helm. According to Forebear’s will, I began my journey to seek the one destined to inherit legacy. After twenty years of searching, I met someone among the Red Flame Dragon Clan—a man whose destiny was intertwined with mine. After spending time with him, I confirmed he was truly worthy of the power of the Helm. I told him of the Helm. But he refused, claiming his own unworthiness. And during our long time together...”

Cloti’s steady voice faltered.

She pressed her lips together—hesitated—then continued:

“During my time with Wuconstantine, we fell in love. We knew it was a love with no future—not only forbidden between our races, but also forbidden before the light of the Holy Father. So, on a certain stormy night, we had a terrible fight. But in the end, I still left the Golden Helm with Wuconstantine.

I believe one day he will be acknowledged by Forebear Apollo—and by himself—and inherit the power to rekindle the world’s light. By now, Orion—or whoever is watching this—you should understand. I stole the sacred artifact of the Blazing Sun Clan and gave it to the dragons.”

Leon, Rosvisser, and Orion held their breath watching.

Especially Orion.

She had so many questions she had wanted to ask her teacher face-to-face.

But now...

That time was ✧ NоvеIight ✧ (Original source) gone.

Cloti continued:

“You may call me a traitor. Say I betrayed the Blazing Sun. Say I am unworthy of my heritage. I do not regret what I did. Because there is no one in the Blazing Sun today who can inherit the Golden Helm. Their hearts hold only the Blazing Sun—not the living beings. They desire the honor of inheritance. They want to be hailed as heroes. And at some point, our people even began to hate the other Children of Light. I could not understand it.”

She shook her head lightly.

“The Golden Helm was meant to save the world—not only the Blazing Sun.”

“So I made my choice.”

“When the crisis of Samael returns, the false shelter of the Blazing Sun will be torn open—and I ask that you place your hope in the one called Constantine. He will save everything.”

At last...

Cloti raised a hand toward the memory stone.

Her beautiful face looked almost touchable.

She and Orion faced one another—as though separated by only inches.

Yet reality lay an entire world apart.

“Teacher...” Orion whispered.

“Orion, my daughter.”

To Orion, it felt like Cloti’s hand was gently stroking her cheek.

“I did not tell you any of this because I didn’t want you to suffer what I did. You have a future full of beauty. You should not have to bear these burdens. This is my final protection for you. From here onward... you must walk strongly on your own. And—Orion Pyx—mother will always love you.”
