Death Guns In Another World

Chapter 834 - 785: Between the sisters

In a village somewhere within the demonʼs continent. Inside a rundown bar was a small group of people. These people were all wearing hoods covering their faces.

ʼʼAll clear, we can remove our hood now.ʼʼ Among them, one spoke; it was a womanʼs voice.

After hearing that it was okay to open their hoods, the others relaxed and finally removed their hoods.

ʼʼThank you, Alice.ʼʼ Lilith thanked Alice the moment they removed their hoods. Alexʼs subordinate nodded her head while staring at the rest of the group. There were lots of familiar faces in this group.

Starting from Lilith, there was Sera, Lilithʼs sister, Noire, Pandora (Former Meera), and two loyal subordinates of Lilith.

The group was larger than this, but those missing had been sent on a mission across the demonʼs continent.

ʼʼAll preparations are ready; we shall begin our counterattack soon,ʼʼ Lilith said after observing everyoneʼs reaction.

Nobody said anything until Althea, Lilithʼs big sister, opened her mouth and asked.

ʼʼOut of the eight dukes, six are loyal to the emperor. Are we going to kill them all? Wonʼt you be at a disadvantage afterward?”

Lilith understood where this question was coming from. Lilithʼs goal after killing her brother was to take over the throne to rule the empire temporarily, so naturally, by eliminating six of the eight dukes who are the backbone of the empire, they would be weakened.

This might cause serious internal and external issues, so it was natural for Althea to be worried; however, Lilith was not worried as she had plans.

ʼʼDonʼt worry, Alpha, I have a plan,ʼʼ Lilith responded without too much change in expression. She didnʼt even call her sister by her name, only using her codename to reply to her.

ʼʼItʼs that so? I understand.ʼʼ Althea smiled bitterly, and the others sighed, looking at those two.

Altheaʼs goal with that question could not be more obvious; how hadnʼt she thought that her clever little sister would have a solution? She knew she must have one but still asked anyway. Althea did this to get closer to her sister; since she appeared and told Lilith her identity, there hadnʼt been any change. Although she had accepted Altheaʼs story, their relationship did not make any progress.

All those present knew Altheaʼs identity; it was why they could understand what Althea was trying to do; unfortunately, Lilith seemed unresponsive to her sisterʼs attempt to close the distance between them. They had tried various methods to make them closer, but none worked, so they could only give up and let the sisters figure out a solution between themselves.

Sensing the weird atmosphere brewing, Sera raised a question.

ʼʼLucifer must be aware by now that something is not right? He will be on guard. Should we wait more before attacking?”

Everybody present knew Seraʼs question was an attempt to alleviate the mood.

ʼʼDonʼt worry, itʼs exactly what I want; maybe if we are lucky enough, the one backing him will show up. We will use this opportunity to deal them severe damage.ʼʼ Lilith explained.

One of her plans was to lure out members from the Chaos organization, the organization backing her brother. She could have attacked right away from the day she infiltrated the empire; she could have used the commotion created by Alex after causing the downfall of an empire.

Still, no, Lilith decided to wait, to slowly infiltrate the empire leaving behind few clues; these clues would lead to her brother becoming suspicious that something was not right; smart as he is, he would understand that it was her sisterʼs doing, the latter must be confident enough to plot something like this.

In this situation, Lucifer would either try to deal with her alone, or he would try to ask for the Chaos organizationʼs assistance.

Lilith was sure that her brother, who likes to rely on external forces, would ask for help. While the Chaos organization wouldnʼt send their strongest man, they wouldnʼt want to lose this valuable chess piece.

There was another reason why Lilith did not immediately attack upon reaching the demonʼs continent; it was because she was raiding dungeons, trying to regain her former strength; while she was still not close to her former level, she was getting closer to the peak of the Demi-God realm, she had nothing to fear even if she were to face Lucifer likely at the peak of Demi-God realm.

ʼʼCan you give us a little bit of space?” Suddenly, Althea, who couldnʼt take it anymore, asked the others, who nodded and left the two alone.

Once they were alone, Althea stared at Lilith before sighing, and she began to talk.

ʼʼI remember you used to be a cry baby back then. You always ran to me whenever the others bullied you. I was your haven, your protector, your guardian. You even joked one day, saying that once you grew up, I should become your guardian angel for eternity.ʼʼ

Lilith said nothing and continued to stay silent.

ʼʼYou were more expressive back then, but now you rarely smile. I know you might not have forgiven me, but at least please let me be your protector; I want to go back to that past where we used to be close. We donʼt have anyone left except for us three. While itʼs impossible to let that scum live, we sisters must be united. So, Lilith, please give us a chance.ʼʼ

Silence.

This silence continued for a moment before Lilith opened her mouth.

ʼʼSigh! I understand your point, I do, but emotions are hard to control. While Iʼm happy that youʼre alive and come back to me, I couldnʼt accept that you didnʼt come sooner. Even if you regained your memories only recently, you should have come to me. Do you know how hard it was for me to shoulder all those hatreds alone? I might be a reincarnated goddess, but Iʼm still a creature with emotions.

Do you think I want to be like this? Never smile; no, it was because you left me shoulder everything; I want to be like others, have a loving family, have a normal childhood, and fall in love, but no, I didnʼt get any of these things. Just why? Tell me why Iʼve to endure all of this? Why Iʼm this unlucky? I lost my comrades in my past life, and in the new one, I lost my parents, brothers, and sister.

Just why? Tell me why? Why werenʼt you there? Why?”
