Sovereign of the Ashes

Gongsun Wuji held the Son of Heaven Sword in one hand and the Heirloom Seal in the other.

A faint trace of blood trickled down his arm, proof that his earlier battle against Overgod Marduk had been far from easy.

The Empress of Blades’ gaze gradually shifted from Gongsun Wuji’s face to his arm, before finally settling on the Heirloom Seal in his hand.

A unique Dragon Qi swirled within the square seal.

The Empress of Blades stared at it for a moment, then let out a soft sigh. “Has Uncle Xuance passed away?”

Her question caused the joy on Gongsun Wuji’s face, which had appeared when he saw his sworn sister, to gradually turn into melancholy.

“Yes. After my father established the laws of the Dawn Empire, created the systems of Dragon Qi and dynastic fortune, and forged the Heirloom Seal, his lifespan and overlord soul were exhausted. In the end, he passed away,” Gongsun Wuji replied in a subdued voice.

Gongsun Wuji’s father was Gongsun Xuance, the former emperor of the Dawn Empire.

He was also the sworn younger brother of the Empress of Blades’ father.

Because of this, the relationship between the Dawn Empire and the Magus Civilization had always remained extremely close.

After receiving Bev’s letter, Gongsun Wuji had decided almost without hesitation to personally lead his forces to support the Magus Civilization.

During the Dawn Emperor’s childhood, when he was still relatively weak, he had spent a long period living in the Western Archipelago of Magus World.

Back then, it was his eldest sister, Bev, who had taken the greatest care of him.

As for his second sister, Liese, the Empress of Blades standing before him now, she had always had a cold and straightforward personality. At the time, she had also been responsible for developing the Insectoids, which kept her extremely busy.

Even so, she had still provided the Dawn Emperor with immense help.

After hearing Gongsun Wuji’s reply, the Empress of Blades sighed quietly once more. However, since this was a reunion, she did not linger on such sorrowful matters. Instead, she asked, “I hear you have a younger sister now?”

Since Gongsun Wuji addressed the Empress of Blades as “Second Sister”, then Gongsun Wudi, regardless of her age or strength, could naturally be considered her peer and address her as “Big Sister” as well.

Gongsun Wudi was the final treasure Wuji’s father had left to the Dawn Empire on his deathbed.

Given that the former emperor’s final strength had approached Rank Eight, the fact that he had been able to produce another child was already an astonishing feat.

Based on the Astral Realm’s study of bloodline and analyses of numerous law domains, Gongsun Wudi should, in theory, possess even greater cultivation talent than her older brother!

And indeed, that was the case.

Having already reached the peak of Rank Six, Gongsun Wudi had advanced through this stage even faster than Wuji had back then, and she was stronger as well.

“Yes, my sister’s name is Wudi. At first, Father and Mother thought she was another boy,” Wuji said with a smile.

“Where is she now?” the Empress of Blades asked.

The battlefield was in utter chaos at that moment. Since she had never met Gongsun Wudi before, even a Rank Eight powerhouse like the Empress of Blades could not immediately locate someone unrelated to her by bloodline.

Wuji, of course, knew exactly where his younger sister was. He raised his left arm that was clad in a golden gauntlet and pointed toward the battlefield of Phylis Plane.

The Empress of Blades looked in the direction he indicated, and before long, the figure of a heroic female general appeared in her field of vision.

Princess Gongsun Wudi’s fighting style bore a striking resemblance to that of the late emperor.

After all, during the twilight of his life, the former Emperor of the Dawn Empire had always remained by his youngest daughter’s side.

Influenced by the Empress of Blades’ gaze, the Insectoid legions that had already arrived on the battlefield of Phylis Plane began spontaneously converging toward Gongsun Wudi’s position.

Guided by the Empress’ will, the moment she turned her attention to Gongsun Wudi, those Insectoids naturally risked their lives to protect her.

This included even the overlord-level Insectoids.

The Empress of Blades looked at Gongsun Wudi with a satisfied expression. As the ultimate weapon of war among the Insectoids, she could tell at a glance what level Gongsun Wudi had reached.

“She has already reached the level of a Peak Despair Bearer in the World of Despair, huh? Perhaps by the time this Clash of Civilizations ends, or as it draws to a close, your Dawn Empire will gain another overlord,” the Empress of Blades commented with a smile.

The friendship between the Empress of Blades’ father, Gongsun Wuji’s father, and the others had first been forged in the World of Despair all those years ago.

Therefore, upon hearing his second sister’s assessment of his younger sister, a faint smile appeared on Gongsun Wuji’s face.

However, not long after, perhaps influenced by some unknown factor, the Empress of Blades’ gaze shifted slightly away from Phylis Plane and Gongsun Wudi.

She turned her attention to the battlefield of Buros Plane, which was closest to Phylis Plane.

In the skies above that plane, a Rank Five mage had manifested his lawful body. Before him was a massive, ethereal mask formed from the power of laws.

In the next moment, a dense barrage of elemental rays erupted from the mask.

In Magus World, mages were known as the “Kings of War” and also the “Kings of Ranged Combat”. And at that moment, this Rank Five mage proved exactly why.

At the same time, a massive planetary fortress beside the Rank Five mage began to warp and transform, eventually becoming a colossal robot that would astonish even Rank Six beings.

A deep azure light of law power radiated from the depths of the planetary fortress robot, making it immediately clear that it was anything but ordinary!

If he were merely a Rank Five mage in possession of two world-class secret treasures, that alone would not have been enough to make the Empress of Blades turn her gaze toward him.

On the battlefield, most people were fixated on the overwhelming presence of that colossal fortress robot. The Empress of Blades, however, was looking at the ethereal mask, whose aura remained remarkably restrained.

After gazing into the distance for some time, Gongsun Wuji followed the Empress of Blades’ line of sight.

Upon recognizing the Rank Five mage from the Magus Civilization, he explained, “That’s the one who inherited Granduncle Jorces’ will.”

The Empress of Blades nodded and smiled. “I never expected that right after returning to the Magus Civilization, I’d encounter so many old acquaintances and be reminded of so many fond memories.”

“Anyway, I’ll deal with that Rank Seven Overgod down there first. Once the war in this star domain is over, we can have a proper chat,” she said.

“I’ll give you a hand, Second Sister,” Gongsun Wuji said, holding the Son of Heaven Sword.

“No need. I can handle this alone. Fermont is only here to help shatter this large world’s planar barrier faster,” the Empress of Blades replied.

“Go help the Holy Dragon King, Gustavo, and the others instead. Deal with those two venerables from Myriad Manifestations World as quickly as possible,” she suggested. “I don’t want to waste too much time on this war.”

Gongsun Wuji cast another glance at the Divine Descendants World below, a place filled with vibrant colors and dense, swirling laws. He was not worried that his second sister’s main goal was to seize the spoils of war.

If the Empress of Blades so desired, Wuji would hand over every last spoil from the Divine Descendants Star Domain to the Insectoids without hesitation.

And presumably, the Empress of Blades felt the same.

Compared to the wealth of an entire large star domain, what mattered most between them was never material gain.

It was their bond.

Gongsun Wuji nodded firmly. Raising the Son of Heaven Sword, he flew toward his mount, the Holy Dragon King.
