Sovereign of the Ashes

Chapter 1764: Gifts and Negotiation

Baxia had five children.

The eldest stood as immovable as a mountain within Magus World, while the second was off on assignment for the Magus Alliance in another star domain.

The “children” Baxia mentioned this time were actually referring to White Stella, Black Oblivion, and Tourmaline.

Bev also knew that Baxia and his family still maintained contact with the Immortal Realm.

Ever since conflicts among the Buddhists, Daoists, Yaos, humans, righteous, and evil within the Immortal Realm Civilization had intensified, the Magus Civilization’s communication with the Qingyang World[1] had been interrupted multiple times.

As fellow top-tier civilizations, the Immortal Realm Civilization, though lacking the vast and complex structure of the Magus Alliance, surpassed Magus World in sheer strength.

In terms of diplomatic ties, the Immortal Realm Civilization had always been a key strategic partner of the Magus Civilization.

Although the Immortal Realm had been experiencing a degree of “turmoil” over the past hundred thousand years, the leadership of Magus World still sought to maintain amicable relations with it.

In this regard, Baxia and his family effectively served as glue between the two civilizations.

Bev was also aware that during this Clash of Civilizations, several members from the collateral branches of the Immortal Realm’s ancestral dragon lineage had entered Magus Civilization’s territory to assist in the conflict.

Although they were only Rank Four beings, their presence alone was enough to demonstrate the deep-rooted ties between the Magus Civilization and the Immortal Realm.

As an Overlord-level powerhouse, Bev’s diligence in keeping track of the general movements of these rare Rank Four entities across the battlefield was a clear reflection of her sense of duty as one of the civilization’s guiding pillars.

She observed every detail carefully, no matter how small.

Since Baxia was planning to visit his children, Bev summoned several tiny, floating eyeballs before her after a brief moment of consideration.

They were the eyes from the Evileye Tyrant Monarch’s auxiliary tentacles.

“Within these eyeballs remains a faint trace of an overlord’s Omnipotent Soul. As their elder, I can’t possibly let you leave empty-handed. Consider these eyes a gift for them,” Bev said, pushing the floating spheres toward Baxia.

The soul of a Rank Eight being had already solidified into an Eternal Soul. It was exceedingly rare for an Omnipotent Soul to be forcibly stripped from its host.

As a result, the Omnipotent Soul of the Eighth Pharaoh had been depleted during the previous battle.

Only the Evileye Tyrant Monarch, who clung to a final sliver of hope, still retained traces of Omnipotent Soul within the eyes on its tentacle.

This tiny soul fragment held little value for Bev and the others, yet it was priceless to beings below Rank Six.

For creatures standing at a critical breakthrough point, even such a sliver could facilitate advancement without any adverse side effects.

This was one of the reasons an overlord’s Omnipotent Soul was so highly coveted among those below Rank Six.

The few eyeballs were merely small gifts Bev offered to Baxia’s children. As for Baxia’s contributions in this battle, Bev ultimately allocated a sizable batch of top-grade crystals from the Amenkha Empire, along with special magic cores produced by the Grand Eye Demon World.

Though Baxia was gentle by nature, dragonkin’s reputation for greed was well known across countless star domains of the Astral Realm. Bev would never even consider shortchanging him on his rightful spoils.

Compared to those precious overlord-level materials, these rare, glittering crystals with more immediate and tangible value likely appealed more to Baxia’s tastes.

As expected, Baxia raised no objections to her distribution.

When a mountain-like pile of crystals appeared before him, the colossal dragon turtle casually swept a claw across it. With a single motion, the massive quantity of top-grade crystals vanished into his shell.

The pile was enormous, yet Baxia himself was clearly larger!

Moreover, the way he stashed those treasures felt oddly familiar—just like a certain little fellow was fond of doing.

Before departing, Baxia expressed his thanks to Lady Bev for the gifts prepared for his young.

He then slammed his massive dragon paw into the starlit void.

Under the force of overwhelming Strength Law, a spatial passage tore open directly before him.

With the overlord-level war concluded, Bev and the others lifted the restraints placed upon the surrounding star domains.

Despite his slow movements, Baxia was still an overlord. He would reach White Stella and the others on the battlefield before long.

After watching Baxia depart, Bev once again divided the remaining spoils among the Magus World overlords present.

When her gaze fell upon the main eye of the Evileye Tyrant Monarch, Bev seemed to recall something. She sighed softly and said, “Our Magus Civilization also possesses a secret treasure forged from an overlord’s eye.”

She continued, “In terms of grade, it rivals Aeberton’s Dark Blade. It’s a pity this Rank Seven eye is far inferior in quality. Otherwise, it could have paired perfectly with that other eye.”

The others present were all elders of the Magus Civilization. They knew exactly which eye Bev was referring to.

Morineo, the Rank Eight Fire Phoenix, proved to be an unexpected asset in the ambush.

Thanks to the Fire Phoenix’s involvement, casualties among the Magus Civilization overlords were significantly reduced, sparing Bev from having to deploy any civilizational treasures.

When Bev asked about the Fire Phoenix’s next plans, his answer came as no surprise—he intended to visit his sister, the Ice Phoenix.

“The Ice Phoenix’s injuries aren’t serious, and she has already received full medical treatment from Magus World,” Bev replied.

“After visiting the Ice Phoenix, would you be willing to proceed to the Grand Cosmic World Star Domain and await further orders?” she asked.

“I suspect the Amenkha Empire, after suffering such losses, will not let this matter rest. War may soon erupt in the Grand Cosmic World. Having an additional Rank Eight overlord stationed there would be safer.”

When dealing with lower-ranking allied foreign deities, Bev and the other Magus World decision-makers usually spoke in a purely directive manner.

However, when facing a powerful overlord like the Fire Phoenix, even Bev adopted a tone closer to negotiation than command.

The Fire Phoenix was different from most Alliance Overlords. First, he had neither homeplane nor subjects. Second, his ties to the broader interests of the Magus Civilization were relatively loose.

The Magus Civilization had once shown him great favor, and his advancement had benefited greatly from the support of overlords from the previous generations. Over the years, however, the Fire Phoenix had more than repaid those debts.

Even if he chose to exit the Magus Alliance now, he would owe Magus World nothing.

That said, the Fire Phoenix had one clear weakness—his younger sister.

The Ice Phoenix was deeply entwined with the Magus Civilization. As long as she remained within Magus World, the Fire Phoenix could never truly cut his ties.

Faced with Bev’s sincere request, the Fire Phoenix hesitated only briefly before nodding in agreement.

Even before returning to the Magus Star Domain during the Clash of Civilizations, he had already made preparations for battle.

A phoenix cry rang out across the surrounding starry skies, lingering long after the sound itself faded.

The addition of another Rank Eight combatant, like the Fire Phoenix, brought an even broader smile to Bev’s face.

1. Translator’s Note: Qingyang World literally translates to Green Sun World. For the Immortal Realm’s worlds, I will keep most names in pinyin to preserve their Eastern cultural flavor, and I will add translator’s notes like this when necessary. ☜
