Sovereign of the Ashes

Chapter 1716: Defeated

The first Rosen Dynasty Civilization legions to arrive in support of Sein numbered nearly one hundred thousand mobile suits, led by two brown-red units.

Both of these brown-red mobile suits possessed Rank Four combat capabilities.

They focused on lower-tier battles after arriving, likely aware that they could not contend with the Rank Six Apocalypse World creature.

The two brown-red mobile suits also shifted their attention to the Rank Four and Five Grand Apocalypse World creatures.

Their arrival was only the beginning, as millions of mobile suits streamed into the area soon after.

Many of these units had passed through battle zones previously assigned to Decaying World.

With the arrival of reinforcements from the Rosen Dynasty Civilization, the Grand Apocalypse World legions collapsed at an accelerated pace.

By rights, the creatures of the Decaying World and the God of Decay itself should have been unpopular within the Magus Alliance.

Perhaps operating from within mobile suits shielded the Rosen Dynasty natives from the foul stench emitted by the Decaying World creatures, sparing them from immediate prejudice.

No...

Behind the mobile suit legions, large numbers of psychics soon arrived to reinforce the area.

Many female psychics visibly frowned, their expressions filled with disgust as they looked upon the Decaying World creatures. Even so, they followed their assigned routes and joined the fighting in nearby sectors.

Their presence played a crucial role in helping Sein and his allies annihilate the Grand Apocalypse World legions across the surrounding battlefield.

In truth, the number of Rosen Dynasty legions committed to this subspace battlefield was not particularly large.

That was only to be expected, given how depleted the Rosen Dynasty Civilization already was.

Their homeplane had been destroyed by the Gallant Federation. The vast majority of their citizens and law-wielding beings had perished, and even the former empress had died defending the world.

The remnants of the Rosen Dynasty Civilization that fled into the Magus Civilization’s territory were already few in number.

The forces they dispatched to support this subspace battlefield represented roughly half of their remaining military strength.

The other half, led by an overlord-level mobile suit pilot, was fighting on a different frontline against the Gallant Federation.

Despite their limited numbers, the Rosen Dynasty combat legions possessed individual combat prowess far exceeding that of most lifeforms from other planar worlds.

It was said that before its destruction, the Rosen Dynasty Civilization had not only produced Rank Eight combatants, but also several overlord-level beings of Rank Seven or higher.

A civilization of that scale was undoubtedly superior to many of its peers.

Although the Grand Apocalypse World was also classified as a large-sized world, the battlefield performance of its legions paled in comparison to the Rosen Dynasty’s combined psychic and mobile suit forces, especially now that they were encircled.

Sein found himself growing increasingly curious about these Rosen Dynasty legions.

That curiosity only deepened when he witnessed a Rank Five mobile suit and a Rank Five psychic engaging the Rank Six Apocalypse World creature in close-quarters combat during the assault.

***

The fierce battle around Sein raged on for more than a week after overlord-level reinforcements from both sides arrived.

At last, the Rank Six Apocalypse World creature collapsed, its blood nearly drained dry.

With her lightsaber in hand, Fermera delivered the final blow.

She severed the mangled head that still clung to its neck, then closed in and drove her blade straight through its chest, piercing the heart.

Even a Rank Four creature might survive decapitation, let alone a Rank Six being.

After enduring countless relentless assaults, the Rank Six Apocalypse World creature finally drew its last breath.

In death, its body was a grotesque mass of mangled flesh and decay.

Even its eyes were ruined. One had burst entirely, while the other belched thick gray smoke and a foul stench, bearing the unmistakable mark of the God of Decay.

Outwardly, it was nothing more than a pile of rotting flesh, a far cry from the once-mighty Rank Six creature it had been.

Yet as Sein stared at the decaying remains before him, his eyes lit up in delight.

To him, this was not merely a decaying corpse, but a stepping stone toward unraveling more advanced truths.

After all, how many in Magus World could afford to use a Rank Six creature as an experimental specimen?

Once the Rank Six Apocalypse World creature had completely lost all signs of life, the two Rank Five Rosen Dynasty beings who had taken part in the assault first paid their respects to Sein before preparing to depart.

They were heading off to reinforce other battlefields in the surrounding region.

To Sein’s surprise, these two peers from the Rosen Dynasty Civilization showed no intention of sharing the spoils of war with him!

Even the God of Decay seemed ready to leave after staring at the Apocalypse World creature’s remains for a moment.

Who would not want to keep the spoils for themselves?

Yet in the end, Sein chose not to do so.

After all, he was a mage who upheld the principle of equivalent exchange.

He tossed several potions and a special crystal to the two Rosen Dynasty powerhouses.

The division of the Rank Six creature’s spoils could wait.

Battles still raged around them, and dissecting and harvesting the remains of a Rank Six creature was no small task.

Only once the war concluded or entered a brief lull could Sein properly process the corpse and distribute fair shares to the others.

The value of this Rank Six Apocalypse World creature extended far beyond the research potential of its flesh and blood.

Its weapons, equipment, and the various resources stored within its personal spatial storage were all assets to be divided among the group.

This was an enormous prize, yielding rewards greater than anything Sein had gained from any interplanar war he had participated in before.

How to allocate it, and how much to give each party, required careful consideration.

After all, cooperation with the Rosen Dynasty legions and the God of Decay would not end here. Even Sein himself could not be certain how long this subspace war would continue.

If one wished to cultivate relationships with powerful allies and gain access to greater resources and networks, one first had to learn how to “give”.

Those who were selfish rarely survived long in this world. True fools and purely selfless individuals were equally rare.

Only mutual benefit could bind people together.

The Rank Five psychic standing before Sein was undeniably beautiful.

She was a young psychic with short, wavy pink hair.

Of course, the age of law-wielding beings could not be judged by appearance alone.

Even so, Sein suspected that she was not particularly old.

Among Rank Five beings, anyone under a hundred thousand years of age was considered young.

Gregory and Bernice, for example, were both regarded as quite young.

Even Grandmaster Feylis was still considered young among Rank Six mages, despite having lived for over a hundred thousand years.
