Sovereign of the Ashes

With a cold snort, the black-robed elder shattered the bizarre power of fate that had entangled the Spider Queen, Lorthisra.

As one of the most powerful overlords in the Magus World—one who also dabbled in the laws of divination and prophecy—the black-robed elder’s strength far surpassed that of the intermediate Faelorian deity, Tyvera.

Even the God of Justice, her support, could not compare to him!

The moment the power of Fate Search was shattered, Tyvera violently coughed up a mouthful of blood within the Justice Theocracy.

The backlash from the law of fate struck her mercilessly, instantly turning half of her hair gray!

Yet, she was not the only one suffering. Behind her, the God of Justice let out a muffled grunt.

Despite being a supreme deity, the God of Justice was merely a peak Rank Six existence.

Perhaps he was stronger than the Graveborn, and perhaps, within his own divine nation, he could even rival an overlord.

But that old man... he was stronger than most overlords!

Within the Magus Alliance, even most overlords would tremble at the mere sight of him.

Wherever he appeared, death and darkness followed.

The damage to the God of Justice was significant—his entire divine nation shook, tilting under the force of the blow.

In that moment, the Gods of Radiance and Oak stood frozen, utterly dumbfounded.

What kind of power could wound Tyvera in an instant and also inflict such a devastating loss upon the God of Justice himself?!

The tilting of the divine nation sent waves of panic through its billions of inhabitants. Devout believers fell to their knees in terror, their prayers rising in desperate cries.

To them, the very foundation of their world shaking was far more terrifying than death itself.

CRACK!

The divine light screen before Tyvera shattered with a loud noise, breaking into countless broken pieces.

The true face of the Spider Queen, Lorthisra, was on the verge of being fully revealed.

They were so close.

But at the last moment, the Spider Queen’s adoptive father intervened to protect her.

If the daughter of an overlord could be so easily assassinated, would they even be worthy of being called an overlord?

On top of that, this black-robed elder was no ordinary overlord!

“A large world, existing at an extreme distance from Magus World in both space and time? The laws governing it seem rather unique... somewhat closed off, like those of the Crystal Sphere, but even more extreme,” he mused.

Chuckling, he added, “How interesting...”

Whether it was curiosity about this distant world or concern for his adopted daughter, who remained far away in Magus World, the black-robed elder did not linger in the Bone Graveyard Star Domain.

Instead, without hesitation, he turned and flew straight back toward Magus World.

“I’ll leave this to all of you. Eradicate all Rank Four and above creatures and force this world down to a low-level plane. Do it swiftly—ensure the Magus Civilization combat legion arriving later faces no unnecessary trouble,” the black-robed elder commanded, his chuckle lingering in the air as he vanished.

“Yes, Lord Nergal!” A Rank Six demon responded with deep reverence.[1]

The devastation of the Bone Graveyard Star Domain did not end with the black-robed elder’s departure.

Even in his absence, another terrifying force remained—Carter Gustavo, a demon overlord.

This formidable being, wielding the Dark Sword, was rumored to be one of the leaders of the infamous Quatar Star Pirates, a notorious force in the nearby star domain.

Carter Gustavo, wielder of the Dark Sword...

The violent and unpredictable White-Eyed Sorceress...

Together, they were recognized as the dominant figures of the Quatar Star Pirates.

Feared as top-tier powerhouses in the region, both were rumored to possess the strength of overlords.

Yet, behind closed doors, they were secret enforcers of the Magus Civilization, operating under the command of the Rank Eight black mage, Nergal.

For this very reason, despite repeated calls from various Magus Alliance member planes, the Magus World had never truly managed to eradicate the Quatar Star Pirates—even after deploying multiple legions against them.

And now, the truth was finally laid bare.

As some in the Magus Alliance had long suspected, the Quatar Star Pirates were the Magus Civilization’s lackeys.

Their purpose was to carry out the dirty work that the Magus World itself could not be seen doing.

With such a role, how could the Magus Civilization ever eliminate them?

That would be no different than crippling itself!

The existence of the Quatar Star Pirates was, in truth, a tool of the Magus Civilization—a means to exert control over the Magus Alliance.

Even though the Magus Civilization had uncovered evidence of Bone Graveyard Star Domain’s collusion with the Gallant Federation, the proof was insufficient.

Openly striking against this allied plane without solid justification would have sent a chill down the spines of other members.

But with the Quatar Star Pirates, there was no such concern.

The Magus Civilization would simply arrive “just in time”.

At the very least, they would step in once the Quatar Star Pirates had done their work to protect the remaining low-level creatures below Rank Four.

While breaking the neck of a Rank Six creature, Carter glanced in the direction where the black-robed mage, Nergal, had departed, nodding slightly as a sign of acknowledgment.

He was the head of the demons among the Star Pirates.

Meanwhile, the White-Eyed Sorceress, the organization’s devil representative, was absent—she had other matters to attend to elsewhere in the Bone Graveyard Star Domain.

“Kill to your heart’s content! We need enough blood sacrifices for our new Hell!” Carter commanded, his gaze sweeping across the demons surrounding him.

A deafening roar erupted in response.

Among them, a few devils and other alien creatures—also part of the Quatar Star Pirates—curled their lips, muttering under their breaths.

No doubt, they were sneering at the demons’ obsession with slaughter and destruction.

Compared to the savagery of the demons, the devils considered themselves far more refined... noble, even.

“Little one, sell your soul to me, and I might consider letting you live,” a Rank Five devil cooed, his voice dripping with deceit.

Before him, the trembling Rank Four creature had lost all strength to resist.

With no hope left, the creature signed the unfair contract, binding its soul to the devil before it.

A sinister red glow flashed in the Rank Five devil’s eyes.

Without hesitation, he raised his claw and ripped the creature’s flesh apart with a single swipe, leaving nothing but its newly enslaved soul behind.

With a satisfied smirk, he retrieved a strange gray bottle, capturing the howling soul inside.

The desperate curses and tormented wails of the Rank Four creature meant nothing to him.

“I said I’d let you live, but never said your body would. Hmm... A Rank Four creature’s soul... Quite a nice bargain.”

With an eerie grin, the Rank Five devil went off, already on the hunt for his next prey.

In the Magus World...

Beside a vast array, Lorthisra shivered.

She clearly sensed someone attempting to target her with the power of divination just now.

However, before she could take any countermeasures, a sudden wave of power surged forth, effortlessly erasing the unknown entity’s prying gaze.

Lorthisra recognized this power instantly. It was her adoptive father’s.

“When did the old man embed such a sliver of his power within me?” she wondered aloud.

A snort escaped her as the corners of her mouth curved into a small smile.

“He’s always talking about kicking me out of Magus World... yet he still watches out for me.”

1. Translator’s Note: Lord Nergal was briefly mentioned once by a mysterious black-robed mage in Chapter 531. Yes, he used to go by a different name, but some of you made me realize that it was not an entirely appropriate name so I’ve tweaked the spelling. ☜
