Who Let Him Play Yugioh? (Re-Upload)

”Just like that… I lost…”

Sherry collapsed to her knees, face ashen.

She thought of her murdered parents, the years of humiliation and endurance.

Her entire life had been for revenge, pouring everything into that goal.

This defeat was like a denial of all her efforts, a reminder of her powerlessness, her insignificance.

She felt as if, in that instant, she’d become the helpless young girl again—watching tragedy unfold, family ruined, with nothing she could do but cry.

Suddenly, a dazzling light flared before her. She shielded her eyes.

When the light faded and she opened her eyes again, she was thunderstruck.

She saw the man in front of her—

That gentle expression she remembered, that familiar face, even every wrinkle just as she’d seen in dreams.

Tears sprang from Sherry’s eyes uncontrollably, her voice trembling:

”Father?”

She was desperate to rush forward and embrace him—her rational mind that knew her father was long gone almost vanishing.

But the ”father” did not greet her warmly as before—his tone instead was cold and detached:

”No, what you see is simply the manifestation of your own deepest desires.”

Sherry froze.

”Now do you understand?

What is it you truly want?”

Her ”father” gave a sly smile.

”Is revenge really what you want? If, after revenge, you lose your purpose, what will you do then? If all you want is revenge, why is the image conjured by your heart not your enemies lying dead at your feet, but this?”

Sherry sat dumbfounded, tears streaming silently down her pale cheeks.

When she came to, her ”father” had vanished—turned back into the hated white-haired man from Security.

”Miss Sherry!”

At this moment, Elsworth rushed forward, supporting Sherry in concern.

Sherry clenched her fists, her body trembling.

”Yes. What I truly want…

I want my father.

I want to feel those gentle hands once again.

What’s so wrong with that?!”

She lost control, roaring in anguish.

”But so what? No matter how badly I want it, my parents are dead, dead for so many years. None of this will ever come again.

Never. Never…”

Kira said quietly,

”That may not be impossible.”

”What!?”

Sherry stared at him.

Was he kidding?

Did he mean he could dig the dead from the grave?

What was this, Duel Monsters with Monster Reborn?

She wanted to scold him for nonsense, but could not. She realized—a tiny hope really did remain in her heart.

So weak it could be snuffed by a breeze—but it existed, and at this moment, ”Goodwin” had rekindled it.

She already understood from the duel: this man was out of the ordinary, power beyond anything she had ever known.

If anyone could break logic—it might be him.

She bit her lip, looked up, her gaze steely.

”If… If you really can do it—if you can bring my parents back, then from now on I will obey any order you give, any command, no complaints, unconditionally—”

”Whoa, let’s not go that far!

Do I look like such a scoundrel?” Kira waved his hands.

”Besides, bringing them back to life—ha, aren’t you overestimating me a little?

I’m just a regular duelist, not someone who can revive the dead.”

The faint hope in Sherry’s heart flickered and died.

Disappointment colored her delicate face.

Of course—how could anyone revive the dead?

”However, there may still be a way,” Kira continued.

”Seems you’ve been tracking Iliaster your whole life, but barely know anything about them.”

Sherry looked up blankly.

”What about Iliaster?”

He wasn’t wrong.

The Iliaster organization hid itself in history, influencing the world by controlling key people and institutions.

Any time they were close to being exposed, they eliminated evidence, or if that failed—the ultimate move: rewriting history.

If evidence or investigators couldn’t be eliminated, they’d just alter history—vanishing all clues and those who sought them.

Trying to track Iliaster was near impossible.

Kira continued directly:

”Iliaster exists to rewrite human history, to guide it into the future they desire.

They traveled back from the future, planting seeds in early civilization.

By your era, they were deeply rooted everywhere—you couldn’t possibly uncover clues.”

”Rewrite… history? Traveled from the future?”

Sherry was bewildered.

”What are you talking about?”

Kira replied calmly:

”Your father realized this just before disaster struck:

your family and business were caught up in a Iliaster-affiliated project.

He learned a secret that he absolutely wasn’t supposed to know, and couldn’t accept Iliaster deciding humanity’s fate for themselves.

So he stole a crucial object and hid it inside your toy, didn’t he?”

”!”

Sherry paused for a moment, then slowly pulled out the card—

A normal Spell Card, named ”Z-ONE”.

The last card her father left her—the key reason she’d come here, and met ”Goodwin”.

Suddenly, her head shot up:

”Wait. Go back in time, rewrite history.

You said I might have a chance to see my father again—is that what you mean?”

”Yes,”

Kira nodded.

”Iliaster possesses the power of a Time Machine, can return to the past to change the timeline.

But what they want is to guide the entire human future—that’s hugely complicated, full of variables.

But if you just want to rewrite the fate of a single family, or a few particular people… With a time machine, it couldn’t be simpler.”

”!!!”

A time machine—to change the past.

She could prevent her parents’ murder altogether?
