Who Let Him Play Yugioh? (Re-Upload)

As Mezuki was banished, a rotten hand clawed out from darkness, grasping the earth.

A tattered scimitar, green armor partly shrouded in a blood-red scarf, and broken helmet horns—like a true zombie warrior, Magela returned from hell itself.

[Alghoul Mazera—ATK 2800]

”Prepare to die! Dragonecro Nethersoul Dragon, attack Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier!”

Once more, Dragonecro gathered power. His skeletal horse galloped at max speed—channeling all its force to deliver a shattering blow to Brionac!

Its effect activates on attack: instead of battle destruction, after damage calculation, the opponent’s monster’s ATK becomes 0, and Skeleton Knight summons a Dark Soul Token with the same ATK. This battle would inflict 700 battle damage, then Brionac becomes 0, leaving Skeleton Knight with an ATK 2300 token and a 2800 Giant Ghoul attacker—a total overkill.

”Although it’s been a decent riding duel,” Skeleton Knight shouted as his horse went full throttle, ”it’s time to finish this!”

Dragonecro charged, the finish inevitable—but Kira simply smiled.

”No need to rush. We’re not done yet.”

Kira flashed a card.

”I discard ’Sphere Kuriboh’ from my hand to activate its effect! When discarded as your monster attacks, it forces your attacker into Defense Position.”

Skeleton Knight: ”Nani?”

A golden ball zipped out, circling Dragonecro Nethersoul Dragon. The fearsome dragon immediately lost its energy and dropped, shifting to a defensive stance beside the dark horse.

[Dragonecro Nethersoul Dragon—ATK 3000 → DEF 0]

”Ugh, its defense is only 0…”

Gritting his teeth, Skeleton Knight snarled, ”But I still have Magela’s attack! I refuse to let that revolting Brionac survive another turn—attack!”

Magela slashed Brionac down with a single blow, the ice dragon shattering into fragments.

[Kira: LP 1100 → 600]

”I set a card and end my turn,” Skeleton Knight said smugly.

”Well? Your ace is defeated now. The undying power of zombies is unstoppable! Even if you use sneaky tricks to send Dragonecro away, I’ll keep calling him back, as many times as needed!”

”Ace?” Kira smiled and shook his head.

”You really still don’t understand, do you?”

”What?”

”You don’t understand the terrifying power of a champion,” Kira sneered.

Truth be told, in his own rankings, the 8th Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship-winning Frog Deck held a top spot for power to lock an opponent down and ruin their will. Frogs and Fishborg Blaster weren’t just annoying because they could Synchro endlessly with Brionac’s recycling effect—they were the linchpin of the so-called ”Frog OTK.”

Most six-star Synchro decks ran Brionac—but the true ”finisher” for the World Champion Frog build wasn’t just infinite Brionac. The real killer combo was coming up next.

”My turn, draw.”

”In the standby phase—with no spells or traps—I special summon ’Treeborn Frog’ from my graveyard.”

[Treeborn Frog—DEF 100]

”Then I normal summon ’Substitoad’ from my hand.”

[Substitoad—DEF 2000]

”Substitoad’s effect: I can tribute any monster I control, and special summon any ’Frog’ monster from my deck. I tribute ’Treeborn Frog’ to special summon ’Des Frog’ from my deck.”

The first Des Frog disappeared, replaced with yet another one.

[Des Frog—ATK 1900]

Skeleton Knight: ”!!!”

Des Frog is Level 5; and he knew Kira had Fishborg Blaster in the grave, which could be revived by discarding. That was the core of the Brionac Synchro.

Was he planning to bring out Brionac again? Unending Brionacs?! Skeleton Knight’s face darkened.

Damn—just not going to end, huh!?

He’d just boasted his undead monsters were immortal, but now it was his opponent’s Brionac that was the real stalker. Brionac returns, bounces everything again, direct attack—game over.

But he did have a backup plan.

Skeleton Knight shot a glance at his face-down card: the trap, ”Threatening Roar,” which would prevent his opponent from declaring attacks this turn. Even if wiped out by Brionac, he could survive the kill-shot, and Kira’s repeated discarding for Brionac would deplete his hand.

That would set him up for a counter-attack next turn!

But then Kira said, ”I continue: Substitoad’s effect—tribute ’Des Frog,’ special summon ’Poison Draw Frog’ from my deck.”

Skeleton Knight: ”?”

Tributing Des Frog? No Synchro? And wasn’t Substitoad effect not once per turn?

”But wait, that effect isn’t limited to once per turn, is it?”

”Substitoad effect—tribute ’Poison Draw Frog,’ special summon ’Dupe Frog.’”

”...”

For the next minute, Kira continued this chain of tributing a frog, summoning another, tributing again, summoning yet another one—an endless hopping back and forth between graveyard and deck, with an ever-increasing pile of frogs in the grave.

Only when his deck was almost depleted and the graveyard full of Frogs did he finally say:

”For the last time, I use Substitoad’s effect. I special summon ’Swap Frog’ from the deck.”

[Swap Frog—ATK 1000]

”Swap Frog’s effect—when summoned, send a Level 2 or lower Aqua, WATER-type monster from the deck to the grave.”

Kira calmly continued, ”I send ’Ronintoadin’ to the grave.”

After this string of plays, Kira dusted his hands.

”Thanks for your patience so far. As thanks, I’m honored to announce--

—omae wa mou shindeiru (you are already dead).”

Skeleton Knight: ”!?”

”Activate the Continuous Spell ’Mass Driver’!”

A high-tech cannon appeared at Kira’s Duel Runner.

”Mass Driver effect: For each monster I tribute, inflict 400 damage to the opponent. I tribute ’Swap Frog’—400 damage!”

Hitting the gas, his Duel Runner glowed—Swap Frog’s spirit became a powerful shell and blasted at Skeleton Knight.

[Skeleton Knight: LP 1700 → 1300]

”Urgh—”

This pain was sharper. Was he using this as riding duel practice?

Scary—after just one try, his technique was clearly improving.

”Next, I activate ’Ronintoadin’ in the grave. By banishing one Frog from the grave, I can special summon it.”

”I banish ’Poison Draw Frog,’ special summon ’Ronintoadin.’”

[Ronintoadin—ATK 100]

”Mass Driver effect—tribute Ronintoadin, 400 more damage!”

”Grr!”

[Skeleton Knight: LP 1300 → 900]

Skeleton Knight’s face fell. Was he using this just for practice?

Damn it…

”But Ronintoadin’s effect—banish ’Swap Frog’ to special summon again!”

[Ronintoadin—ATK 100]

”Wait, no—hold on!

There’s a problem! That Frog’s revive effect—damn, isn’t once per turn?!”

Now, he truly felt fear.

Shit!

Substitoad is not once per turn, so Kira chained frog after frog, back and forth from grave to deck—probably at least ten in the grave by now.

And Ronintoadin doesn’t have a once per turn restriction either!

That meant, for ten frogs in the grave, it has ten lives—twenty frogs, twenty lives!

And the ultimate, degenerate finisher: Mass Driver, which also has no once per turn limit…

Skeleton Knight quaked, terrified, nearly mad.

Absurd, ridiculous—utterly broken.

He had thought Brionac returning endlessly was enough torment, but who knew the true master was yet to come!

What level of moral depravity could invent something this degenerate!?

”Ronintoadin, fire again as ammo for Mass Driver—400 damage!”

”Argh!”

[Skeleton Knight: LP 900 → 500]

”Banish ’Poison Draw Frog’ from grave—special summon Ronintoadin again. Mass Driver—400 more!”

”Ahhhh!”

[Skeleton Knight: LP 500 → 100]

Gritting his teeth, Skeleton Knight seethed.

”You… what kind of monster are you…”

”How rude,” Kira sighed. ”An excellent, passionate, gentlemanly duelist like me is one of a kind in every dimension.

But, it seems our encounter is at its end.

I banish ’Dupe Frog’ from the grave, and special summon ’Ronintoadin’ again.”

[Ronintoadin—ATK 100]

Kira snapped his fingers one last time.

”--The final shot! Mass Driver!”

His Duel Runner roared, climbing the wall at a perfect 90 degrees, accelerating as he fused all the energy into Mass Driver—a gigantic spiral shell ejected with full force.

Boom!

[Skeleton Knight: LP 100 → 0]
