Chaos Heavenly Emperor Technique

Chapter 108: Chapter 108: Clear Reward and Punishment!

At that moment, the Black Armored Cavalry Army leader, Long Xiaao, who had been watching from the sidelines, saw that there was no longer any danger below and flew over.

When he saw Zi Feng on Ling Feng’s shoulder, he also mistook Zi Feng for the Earth Fire Flame Ghost from before and immediately glared and scolded, ”You vile spawn, why haven’t you accepted death swiftly!”

”Alright, General Long, this monster has now become my little brother’s Spirit Pet, so it probably can no longer do any evil,” Wen Tingguang hurriedly intervened and said to Long Xiaao.

”What... What?” Long Xiaao thought he had heard wrong. He looked at Ling Feng, then turned to Wen Tingguang and exclaimed in surprise, ”Elder Wen, you’re not joking, are you?”

”If not for this reason, why do you think that Earth Fire Flame Ghost suddenly retracted the Earth Flame Fire Formation?” Wen Tingguang said with a bitter smile, ”Although I also find it hard to believe, the fact is just so.”

”This...” Long Xiaao’s mouth twitched a few times. As a general of the Black Armored Cavalry Army, charged with defending the territory of the Empire, he himself had almost died at the hands of that Earth Fire Flame Ghost, yet that monster was subdued by a junior in the Qi Condensation Realm.

A mix of emotions swelled in Long Xiaao’s heart. He looked at Ling Feng again and at the ”cute” little stone man that had now become very endearing on his shoulder and could only shake his head with a bitter smile, ”Well, it is what it is.”

Although this outcome was somewhat of a blow to his pride, it was still much better than letting the Earth Fire Flame Ghost continue its rampage and slaughtering the surrounding people.

After all, as the garrison commander of this land, if he let the monster run amok, the higher-ups of the Empire would surely call him to account.

”Since this monster has now been subdued by this young man and a Blood Covenant has been established, let’s leave this matter at that,” Long Xiaao took a deep breath and added, ”Today, we also owe you our gratitude for stopping this monster in time and sparing countless lives. I must thank you for that.”

Ling Feng touched his nose bridge. In fact, all of this was Zi Feng’s doing, and he himself was still somewhat puzzled, unclear about what exactly had happened.

However, to conceal Zi Feng’s true identity, Ling Feng had no choice but to brazenly accept the credit, and he smiled saying, ”Senior, you are too kind.”

”Clear distinction between rewards and punishments is the foremost iron rule of our Black Armored Cavalry Army,” Long Xiaao stood with his hands behind his back and declared, ”Since you have helped this general greatly, it’s only right to grant you a generous reward.”

”Uh...” Ling Feng initially wanted to say that wasn’t necessary, but was pulled aside by Wen Tingguang.

The crafty old man squinted his eyes and laughed, cutting in before Ling Feng could respond, ”Exactly, exactly! You can’t ruin General Long’s rule, young man!”

Ling Feng smiled inwardly, and since the older brother had put it that way, he could only nod in agreement, ”Then I thank General Long.”

”Hm.” Seeing how Wen Tingguang treated Ling Feng, Long Xiaao knew that their relationship was not shallow and naturally couldn’t offer a poor reward. He smiled and said, ”At such a young age, you’ve subdued a Spirit Pet of the Demon Monarch Level. It’s a pity that the Black Armored Cavalry Army cannot recruit privately; otherwise, I would truly want to enlist you into the Black Armored Cavalry Army as an Assistant General.”

The title of Assistant General was an important military rank associated with being a trusted officer close to a general in the army.

Ordinarily, a new recruit in the army starts as a Soldier. Above a Soldier is a Centurion, followed by a Chiliarch, Assistant General, Capital Commandant, Governor, Colonel, Lieutenant General, General, Great General, Grand Commander, and other ranks, forming a strict hierarchy.

Long Xiaao’s own rank was merely that of a Colonel. By proposing to appoint Ling Feng as an Assistant General, he had shown great regard for Ling Feng.

Although Ling Feng himself was not very powerful, just releasing his Spirit Pet, the Earth Fire Flame Ghost, could sweep through a vast area and even exert a destructive force far stronger than that of Long Xiaao as a Colonel.

After contemplating for a moment, Long Xiaao slowly said, ”How about this—I’ll write you a letter of recommendation so you can report to the Black Armor Forbidden Army. As long as you pass their assessment, you can join the Black Armored Cavalry Army. What do you think?”

”I’m sorry, but I don’t have any plans to join the military at the moment.” Ling Feng shook his head, showing no intention of joining the Black Armor Forbidden Army.

”You youngster!” Wen Tingguang couldn’t help but shake his head in frustration, wishing he could give him a good kick or two.

One must know that many talents and outstanding individuals who have toiled for five or even ten years at Heavenly Position Academy, trying to graduate, would do anything to join the Black Armor Forbidden Army. It’s a breeding ground for military talent within the Sky White Empire!

Within the Sky White Empire, monarchial authority reigns supreme, with the Emperor at the apex. Despite the imposing manner of the various sect leaders within the Sect World, in reality, they must still operate under the Empire’s rule and the Emperor’s authority, daring not to overstep.

To become a General within the Empire, someone like Long Xiaao, is a position far superior to an average sect leader or sect master.

Take Yunxi County, for example. When the leaders of the various Sword Sects see Long Xiaao, don’t they all behave respectfully, obediently addressing him as General Long and eagerly following behind?

”Brother Wen, please don’t say anymore. I truly have no intention of joining the military right now.” Ling Feng knew Wen Tingguang meant well but ultimately, his aspirations lay elsewhere.

Seeing Ling Feng unmoved, Long Xiaao believed he lacked great ambition and lamented inwardly: Alas, what a waste of a Spirit Pet of Demon Monarch Level.

However, in front of Wen Tingguang, he refrained from critiquing Ling Feng and still maintained a cheerful demeanor, ”Young brother, if you are not interested in joining the military, then this General will gift you a Heart Protecting Mirror. Although it’s only an Upper Grade Treasure, it should be quite suitable for you.”

Saying this, Long Xiaao took out a round Heart Protecting Mirror emanating a dark glow from his own Spirit Storage Ring and handed it to Ling Feng. This was a treasure that only high-ranking officers of the Black Armored Cavalry Army could possess. It was nothing extraordinary for Long Xiaao, but for Ling Feng, it was a priceless treasure.

At the very least, it was much more advanced than the soft armor he had taken from Lin Yinyin.

Ling Feng took the Heart Protecting Mirror and promptly expressed his gratitude, ”Thank you, elder!”

Long Xiaao smiled generously, waved his hand dismissively, and added, ”Moreover, I see that you seem to be a Sword Cultivator. This General happens to have a swordsmanship technique. Since I have no use for it, I might as well give it to you as well.”

With a flash of light, Long Xiaao produced a Sword Manual, ”This is the Xuan-grade Mid-level Swordsmanship technique, ’Blood Lotus Sword Song’. Once mastered to great success, you can condense the Blood Lotus Dharma Form and with one strike of your sword, you can cut through all directions!”

Ling Feng excitedly took the Xuan-grade Sword Manual. Until now, the most advanced swordsmanship he had practiced were techniques like ’Falling Leaves Sword Technique’ and ’Shattering Star Sword Technique’, which were only Upper Yellow level techniques. Now, receiving a Xuan-grade technique was like trading a musket for a cannon.

”Thank you, elder!” Ling Feng had no reason to refuse and his face blossomed into a grateful smile.

Wen Tingguang, however, sighed inwardly. Compared to a recommendation letter to join the Black Armor Forbidden Army, what were these items? This youngster’s vision and knowledge were still too shallow.

Seeing Wen Tingguang’s dissatisfaction, Long Xiaao gritted his teeth and took out a pill, chuckling, ”There’s also this. Young brother, you have now reached the Qi Condensation Realm Ten Layers, which is what people commonly call the Qi Sect realm. I just happen to have a Meridian Passage and Qi Transformation Pill here which can allow a Qi Sect at Qi Condensation Ten Layers to breakthrough the Qi Veins in one fell swoop and advance to the Magnetic Condensation Realm!”

”This—”

Ling Feng took a deep breath. Although the Meridian Passage and Qi Transformation Pill wasn’t considered an extremely extraordinary Elixir, it was indeed the most suitable for him!

”Isn’t this too precious?” Ling Feng gestured, declining the offer. In truth, after Zi Feng had successfully evolved using the body of the Earth Fire Flame Ghost, he was already the biggest winner. It felt embarrassing to receive so many gifts from Long Xiaao.

”It’s no trouble at all!” Long Xiaao flicked the pill into Ling Feng’s hand and glanced at Wen Tingguang from the corner of his eye. Seeing the old man finally nod slightly, he breathed a sigh of relief.

If Wen Tingguang was still not satisfied, he would have had no choice but to continue searching for other gifts to give Ling Feng.

”Alright, since the threat of the Earth Fire Flame Ghost has been eliminated, this General won’t linger any longer. Young brother, Elder Wen, we shall meet again if fate allows!”

With that, Long Xiaao gave a respectful bow to Wen Tingguang and then, like making an escape, vanished into the sky in the blink of an eye.
