Chapter 162: Because I Missed You

Because I Missed You

”...You really are Leon,” she whispered.

He leaned his head to one side with a small smile. ”The one and only.”

There was a rosy flush on her cheeks. But in the next instant, her face scrunched up in angry annoyance. She whirled away sharply, brushing aside the embarrassment as she moved back.

”Idiot... you could’ve given me a heart attack,” she growled. ”You’re lucky I didn’t cleave you in two.”

Leon released a low, teasing laugh. ”But you didn’t. So obviously, you must love me more than I ever thought.”

Nova whirled around him theatrically, finger wagging in his face, eyes flashing.

”...Are you crazy, Leon?! That’s no laughing matter!” she snarled, her tone changing to one of shock. ”What if I hit your neck?! What if I killed you by accident?! What if you weren’t able to block in time? Then what?!”

Leon shrugged, that faint smirk still playing on his lips. ”Then I’d die a very poetic death. And you’d earn yourself a new title—the woman who accidentally assassinated her own lover.”

Her eyes narrowed, green fire meeting the amused glow in his golden ones.

She opened her mouth to scold him again. ”Hmph—” But the words stalled.

She followed his gaze—and realized where it had wandered.

Leon’s eyes had fallen, mapping over her body with a stillness.

She wore nothing but an oversized white t-shirt, the shirt sagging loosely from her shoulders. Several buttons had been undone, and the front was open enough to see the dark lace underneath.

Under the shirt, she had on a tight, half-sheer black bra. Its delicate lace hugged her curves, framing the generous rise of her bosom with an effortless charm. Every soft breath, every subtle change of position, made the shape underneath shift slightly—just enough to catch the eye. The gentle jiggle and natural swing of her breasts under the lace made for a quiet, elegant movement—neither forced nor ostentatious, yet unmistakably alluring.

For an instant, Leon just stood there—golden eyes shining, not lust, but something more. Admiration. Amusement. Perhaps even awe.

Below, her flat stomach and defined abdominal muscles were exposed. And lower... she sported only a see-through, black netted bikini panty, hugging the curve of her hips with casual brazenness. Her powerful thighs were entirely on display—firm, strong, yet fluid. And those long, smooth legs had a quiet appeal.

Leon swallowed. He blinked once, then twice.

She didn’t even blink. She didn’t shift to cross her arms.

Why would she?

This man standing in front of her—this collected bastard who had crept into her apartment like a winter wind—he was already hers. She had made that choice a long time ago, even before he’d said yes.

But still... a blush rose into her cheeks, a pale pink stain. Her chin jutted out, proud as usual.

Leon’s eyes followed back up, settling onto her face.

And he saw it.

The notorious maniac of battle... was still a woman. And no matter how fiery—she could still blush.

Nova’s eyebrow arched, her voice husky, infused with amusement, though a strand of irritation still lingered on the periphery—and beneath that, an unusual note of shyness.

”Done staring. or should I twirl for you too?”

Leon chuckled low, eyes now fastened on hers. ”I was merely appreciating the very hot view of my wife.”

She let out a little, chuckling scoff, the edges of her lips curling upwards. ”Who mentioned that I’m your wife?”

Leon’s grin grew wider. He put a contemplative hand on his chin, golden eyes sparkling. ”Oh? You’re not?” he performed in a dramatic voice. ”Then why don’t you push me out the window right now?

Nova parted her lips—only to have the words stall in her throat. Nothing escaped.

She shifted her head with a gentle ”Hmph.” before folding her arms tightly across her chest. Automatically, the movement thrust her breasts up a little, softly accentuated by the looseness of the shirt, which highlighted her curves.

Now tell me,” she said with a pout rather than an angry frown, ”what in the name of all that’s holy are you doing sneaking around in my bedroom at this time, idiot?”

She attempted to appear ferocious—but the combination of her flushed cheeks, crossed arms, and narrowed eyes made her look perilously cute... and inadvertently sexy.

Leon laughed, the sound deep and warm, as he moved toward her with slow deliberation.

Nova did not stir. She remained standing, still had her arms crossed under her chest, green eyes narrowing—not in refusal, but in challenge. Observing. Waiting. Attempting to foretell what he would do next.

Before she could act—

His hand slid forward, encircling her wrist with precision. In smooth, practiced motion, he pulled—softly, but firmly.

She emitted a tiny, startled intake of breath as her balance shifted, and in the space of one heartbeat, her body was drawn against his.

Onto his lap.

”Leon—!” she shouted, eyes wide, one hand clutching instinctively at his chest. Her long legs folded awkwardly at first, but his arm wrapped around her waist, holding her fast in position.

He was sitting comfortably on the edge of her bed now, and she—seated sideways across his thighs—was utterly caught.

Leon grinned up at her, golden eyes shining with quiet humor.

”Now this is comfortable,” he said, voice low and far too smug with himself.

Nova’s heart was racing in her chest, her body taut. She glared at him, cheeks flushing despite herself. ”...Comfortable?!” she snapped, attempting to ignore the flutter inside her.

He did not respond right away. Instead, he leaned his chin softly against her shoulder, the warmth of his breath caressing the flesh under her collarbone.

His tone grew softer—softer, warmer. ”Well, in fairness... in the process of climbing your third-floor window, I believe that I strained something in my leg.”

She blinked. ”Seriously—”

”And...” he continued, his voice changing to something quieter, more genuine. ”To answer your question... why I came?”

He leaned toward her. The closeness of him, the quiet strength in his arms, the smell of his skin—it surrounded her like the wind before a storm.

”I came by to visit you,” he said, pushing a stray lock of her hair back behind her ear with a gentleness she wasn’t prepared for.

”Because I missed you.”
