Path To Godhood Begins With Marrying Wife And Gaining SSS Rank Skill

Chapter 821: 821: Division Of Arcadia

The aftermath of the execution soon began.

With the four family heads dead, the old order of the Imperial Capital had finally collapsed. The four great families that had controlled the Capital for generations were no longer led by the people who had once ruled them with an iron hand.

New family heads were appointed.

However, they were not given complete freedom.

The Emperors had already decided how the territory would be divided, and the new family heads were given a choice regarding which nation they wanted to settle in based on the division.

The Halcrest Family chose the Valorant Empire.

The choice was not difficult to understand.

Valorant had been built through the blood and sweat of battle fanatics who constantly fought on the frontlines. Their warriors were often injured and required healing, while the Church of Light had only limited reach in dealing with them.

The healing ability of the Halcrest Family could fill that gap.

Emperor Aldren also made a compelling offer to the new head of the family, which made it easier for Halcrest to make their choice.

Pentos, who had been chosen as the new head of the Ambrose Family, joined Eldorian.

As for the Devine Family, they were taken by Xylos.

At first, many people thought Devine would join Eldorian because of its location and influence. However, the choice was not made that way.

Xylos had already faced a round of destruction during the recent conflicts, and the Devine Family had many skilled mages and researchers. Their knowledge could help boost things in construction and rebuild the damaged areas.

The last family, Cravik, fell into Morvath’s hands.

The division of the territory was also made clear.

The territory under Lancelot would be controlled by Eldorian. The other side of the northern border was taken over by Xylos.

The middle eastern part up to the Capital was taken over by Valorant, while the southern region fell into Morvath.

When Ethan heard the distribution, he was completely dumbfounded.

”What kind of dog shit division is this?”

He looked at the map in front of him with a strange expression.

The regions assigned to each Empire were scattered far away from their actual territories. They were not even connected properly to the main land of the Empires.

This meant communication would have to be entirely relayed through long-distance wireless systems.

For transportation, almost everything would heavily depend on portals.

If something happened in one of these regions or a rebellion suddenly rose, the place would be in grave danger before proper reinforcements could even arrive.

Ethan stared at the map for a long time.

The more he looked at it, the stranger the division seemed.

Then a thought slowly emerged in his mind.

These Emperors had never planned to keep this land forever.

They planned to hollow out this piece of land until nothing remained and then discard it.

Ethan’s expression became serious.

Perhaps his presence had changed their plan.

They had agreed verbally to certain things, but he didn’t know whether they would actually keep their words once enough time had passed.

As long as he was alive, they had to consider him.

But what would happen after he died?

That dangerous thought made Ethan restless.

He didn’t know how long he would remain alive. He had enemies everywhere and the world was becoming more complicated with every passing day. There was also the matter of Gu Cheng and the Cultivation Continent, along with the strange void that connected the two worlds.

If something happened to him, there would be nobody strong enough to stand between the Emperors and this land.

Ethan clenched his fist slightly.

But he couldn’t do anything about it right now.

He could only observe.

He needed to see whether what he was thinking would actually come true or if he had misunderstood the intentions of the Emperors.

For now, there was only one thing he could rely on.

As long as he was present, he could deter them.

.....

Pentos led the red-haired woman through a hidden passage beneath the Ambrose estate. The passage was dark and quiet, with only the faint light from the magical lamps fixed along the walls guiding their way. Their footsteps echoed through the stone corridor as they went deeper underground.

At the end of the passage was a massive stone door. This was the secret vault of the Ambrose Family, a place that only the family head could open.

With Cedric’s death, a new head had been selected after a round of debate. There were Elders who had wanted to escape while keeping a part of the Ambrose bloodline preserved, but they were all dragged out of the base before they could do anything.

And the perpetrator was none other than Pentos.

He had already started subtly influencing the remaining clan members to shift sides. A few of them were unwilling to be constrained by the Emperor’s order and wanted to preserve what remained of the family, but did they even have a chance?

Either this or death.

Being made to choose between the two had put them in their place.

Pentos had understood that very well. He knew that most of them would choose to live if they were given no other option. After all, there was little they could do against the Emperors and the forces that had already crushed the four great families.

Now Pentos was leading Rina inside the underground chamber.

As they walked, Pentos glanced at her and asked,

”I hope this is enough of appeasement.”

The sound of footsteps coming from behind suddenly stopped.

Pentos turned around and saw Rina standing there with a serious expression. Her red hair fell over her shoulders as she looked directly at him.

”I am the last one remaining of my entire family but there are still many of yours. Tell me should I rejoice?”

The question made Pentos pause. His lips parted slightly but he didn’t know how to answer.

Rina stared at him for a few seconds before her expression softened slightly.

”However, I am quite satisfied as it is now. Being too greedy won’t be good. Now lead me.”

Pentos quietly nodded and turned around.

”Yes.”
