Path To Godhood Begins With Marrying Wife And Gaining SSS Rank Skill

Chapter 263: 263:He Will Handle It Calmly!

The Capital of Ruthiana.

Unlike the grim picture seen throughout the rest of Ruthiana, the Capital was filled with life. It was always bustling with activity. No matter how terrible the situation outside became, the place remained crowded with people and noisy with constant movement and merriness.

Unlike the Western and Eastern regions, which were far from the center, the Northern and Southern regions were very close to the Capital. Because of that, the Dukes of these two regions chose to control their territories while staying inside the Capital itself.

The terrain of Ruthiana stretched longer on the left and right sides, while the North and South were comparatively shorter. So the nobles of the shorter regions stayed at the Capital. Their influence gathered together and formed what people called the Central Nobles.

Their power was terrifying. With a single glance or word, they could decide the fate of many.

All major headquarters and important regional leaders stayed inside the Capital as well. Like every other day, today also started normally. Nothing unusual. People walked around casually, and they had already adapted to all sorts of wild things happening daily.

However, something stirred the entrance of the Capital.

The soldiers guarding the gates were almost as strong as knights from noble households. They were resting casually when they heard a loud commotion approaching.

“What’s going on?”

They stood up quickly. Their eyes widened as they saw a massive caravan advancing toward them. The carriage in front was huge and luxurious. It was so lavish that it looked like a royal family’s carriage rather than a noble’s.

It felt as if some wealthy young master had descended here.

The knights guarding the carriage stepped forward and approached the gate soldiers.

“Step aside.”

One of them added, “It’s the entourage of Baron Blanks.”

“Who?” the guards muttered, confused.

There were too many nobles to remember, so they normally only paid attention to the important ones. They had heard the name Blanks before, but they could not connect the word Baron to the extravagant display in front of them.

One soldier grabbed the identity token thrown at him.

He stared at it, his expression twisting. “Are you fucking kidding me?”

He clicked his tongue. “If this is a Baron, then I am the Duke.”

The others nodded aggressively.

“And how dare a mere Baron show such a fancy fleet? Do you think you are a Central Noble when you live in a backwater wasteland?”

Just then, a hand landed on their shoulders.

“Hmmm… You are correct about that.”

“It is right… isn’t it?” the soldier replied automatically. Then he paused. His expression stiffened as he slowly turned around.

Their hearts jolted violently when they saw who was behind them. A handsome, otherworldly white-haired man stood right there, so close that they felt their breath stop.

For a moment, they even questioned their own sexuality because their hearts began beating wildly without warning.

However…

“Your words hurt my heart.”

The man spoke softly, but the moment his voice reached them, a chilling sensation spread across the entire area.

“Kyaa!”

“Arghh!”

All the soldiers at the gate collapsed to the ground. Their legs suddenly went soft and refused to support them.

The white-haired man folded his hands behind his back. His expression remained calm.

“I have the power and the right to act. So I will act. If you have the guts, then stop me.”

None of the soldiers could lift their heads.

He turned around. “Come. Let’s go to the Merchant Association!”

The entire entourage passed through the gates. Not a single soldier dared to lift his face from the ground until they had gone completely out of sight.

When the soldiers finally came back to their senses, one of them suddenly screamed.

“He said something about the Merchant Association!”

“Fuck! Don’t tell me it’s about the skirmish between the Adventure Guild and Baron Blanks.”

“Damn… quickly send a message to the Adventure Guild!”

“Yes, also send a message to the Captain of Star Knights. Quickly!”

“Yes! Go! There might be a huge war later!”

…….

“Ulululkuu!”

A soft baby laugh echoed through the tent.

Duke Phillips moved his hands in a playful motion, making small animal sounds, waving his fingers, and lightly tapping the baby’s cheeks. The tiny girl giggled again, her eyes sparkling.

“Woah! She is laughing!” Duke Phillips brightened instantly and lifted his lovely granddaughter higher. His face softened completely, the stress melting off him as he continued making silly expressions just to hear her laugh again.

With Ethan’s departure, Duke Phillips had been ordered to stay back at the Blanks and handle any unforeseen situation. Accompanying him was Emma, who had dumped all her work on Roen and rushed here as soon as she received the news.

The moment she stepped inside the room and saw him, she grabbed Duke Phillips by the collar.

“What the hell are you doing?”

Phillips blinked and looked at her with confusion. “I am just playing with my granddaughter!”

“I can see that!” Emma roared. “But why the hell did you allow Ethan to go to the Capital? Didn’t you come here to handle things? So what the HELL!”

She exploded like a furious lioness. Her voice alone shook the tent walls, and Duke Phillips almost collapsed under the pressure.

“He said he will handle our things. Believe in him…”

“Say that while looking straight at my face, you bastard!” Emma shouted. She noticed how Phillips kept turning his gaze away like a guilty child.

Flustered, he forced himself to look down and muttered, “He said he will handle it…”

Even while saying it, he could barely believe his own words. He was trying his best not to think too deeply about the situation. Everything had already gone far beyond his control.

…

Meanwhile, the very person who had casually claimed, “I will handle it,” was—

“You better be careful with your words. If I catch even a hint of a lie, your head will be the first to go.”

“…”

—threatening the Merchant Association Master’s life.

“…Hah.”

The man let out a weak laugh, completely drained.

Ethan’s terrifying aura filled the room like a suffocating storm. The Association Master’s subordinates lay scattered around the floor, groaning in pain. Some were unconscious. The doors had been shattered, desks were split in half, papers were scattered everywhere, and a heavy hatchet was embedded deep into the table right in front of him.

A deadlock.

If there was ever a moment where retreat was impossible, this was it.

The Merchant Association Master didn’t dare meet Ethan’s eyes. His shoulders trembled, his fingers shook, and cold sweat ran down his back. He kept his gaze fixed on the floor.

’Damn it… I’ve really stumbled onto a madman this time…!’

He didn’t even have the courage to lift his head. The murderous intent surrounding the white-haired man made every breath painful.

Nothing in the world felt scarier than a human like this. A man holding a hatchet, his eyes cold with killing intent, his voice calm yet promising death.

All he could do was swallow dryly and hope he survived the next minute.
