Immortal of the Nine Realms

The God Race?

Everyone was drawn by the startled cry. Even the four members of the Vajra Race stopped bothering with Fang Chen and Wang Chongsong and crowded toward the window to watch.

Fang Chen and Wang Chongsong did the same. Looking through the window, they saw the bustling street part, forming a broad path. It was exactly as if the ocean had been split in two.

A group of individuals with builds as magnificent and lofty as mountains was walking through. The leader possessed a round, slightly chubby face. He carried a beaming smile as he looked around, appearing mild and gentle. Yet a sharp edge coiled tightly around him like a blanket of thorns, making people look in awe and not dare to approach lightly.

Question after question instantly surged into Fang Chen’s mind. ”Lang Daochun? God Race? Demon Race?”

His gaze remained fixed on this individual until the group walked through the street, drawing further and further away.

Wang Chongsong muttered to himself, ”Is that truly the God Race? Who would have thought that the God Race looks so similar to us humans? They are only slightly taller and have darker skin.”

Xian Hong reluctantly withdrew his gaze. Hearing those words from Wang Chongsong, he could not help but mock, ”Similar to your race? How revered is the God Race, yet you human bugs dare to latch onto them like this? Truly shameless.”

His words drew the agreement of that Vajra Race woman, who also ridiculed, ”There are rumors that newborns of the God Race are born with their entire bodies composed of Supreme Bones. Even the tiny hairs on their skin flow with supreme aura. Comparing them to your race? Can you even match up?”

”Naturally, we cannot match up.” Fang Chen smiled calmly. ”The Human Race cannot match up, the Flame Race cannot match up, and the Vajra Race cannot match up either.”

Xian Hong and the Vajra Race woman were startled. They all understood what he meant. Everyone here was in the same boat, so there was no need for the pot to call the kettle black.

The Vajra Race woman sneered. ”Why should we need to match up to the God Race? As long as our foundation is deeper than you little human bugs, is that not more than enough?”

”The wheel of fortune spins. No one stays in the same place forever; one either advances or retreats. Who can say for sure what will happen in the future?” said Fang Chen.

Then he headed out of the restaurant. Wang Chongsong immediately followed close behind.

The Vajra Race woman still wasn’t willing to let the two off that easily. She wanted to stop them and mock them a little more, but the Asura Race member’s gaze swept over her again. Her movements stiffened slightly. By the time she thought to block the two again, they had already walked far away.

The Asura Race member let out a scoff and continued to drink and chat with the others. The Vajra Race woman had no choice but to suppress the dissatisfaction in her heart.

Lord Yan stared at Fang Chen’s departing back and asked with a thoughtful expression, ”Xian Hong, is that fellow with an eye condition a divine ability user of the Fang Clan?”

Xian Hong replied with great deference, ”He is.”

Lord Yan smiled. ”What a pity. The human race is indeed not stupid. Otherwise, my strategy should have been able to sever the foundation of the human race, costing a mere loss of two Saint Blood Bodhi beads from beginning to end.”

Xian Hong thought back to his previous strategic suggestion. A chill first ran through his heart, and his demeanor grew increasingly humble and deferential. ”Lord Yan, although we couldn’t sever their foundation this time, we have at least planted a seed of disaster among them. As long as the ten human Saints cannot work together with one heart, our race will have a chance to swallow them up.”

The Vajra Race’s Lord Yan nodded. ”Mhm. The Saint Tower Battle is also a fine opportunity to weaken the human race. Make sure you grasp it well.”

He led his three racemen back to their seats to resume drinking and dining.

Meanwhile, Fang Chen and Wang Chongsong had both lost the mood to continue strolling and were walking back toward the inn.

Wang Chongsong seemed agitated. He was unable to stop himself from muttering in a low voice, ”Old Fang, you say the wheel of fortune spins, but as of now, I still see no hope of the human race crushing the Flame Race, let alone matching the Vajra Race. And powerful races above those two are everywhere in the Divine Realm. Take the God Race, for instance. They have probably long achieved eternity. The wheel of fortune won’t ever spin away from their doorstep.”

Fang Chen had a strange expression.

Did the wheel of fortune truly never spin away from the God Race’s doorstep? Then how did the God Race end up becoming the Demon Race during the era of the Nine Realms?

He could understand how the human race might lose their Saints and ultimately flee to the Nine Realms to scrape a living. However, he couldn’t imagine how something like that could happen to a race as powerful as the God Race, a race from which a Realm Lord originated.

How did such a race degenerate to that extent? Or perhaps it was just someone who looks slightly similar? The world is so vast and boundless. Even if two people look exactly alike, it might not be all that extraordinary.

For the time being, he felt he couldn’t conclude solely from this that the man he had just seen truly was Lang Daochun. Even if it was, it still might not confirm that the God Race had genuinely been hit by the ”spinning wheel of fortune.”

Could it be that just one of their branches was banished? That is also a possibility.

Seeing that Fang Chen remained silent, Wang Chongsong could not help but sigh. ”See, you also agree with me, right?”

He murmured to himself, ”Too young, we are still far too young after all. Give it another million... no, ten million years... and the human race’s fortune might take a turn. It’s just that I likely won’t be around to see it...”

From atop a building in the distance, a laughing voice rang out. ”Lang Daochun! I knew you would come to Longsheng City this time. Come, let’s sit in a private room. We haven’t met for years, so we must catch up properly this time!”

Fang Chen lifted his eyes to look. He saw that the group of God Race members from moments ago was being welcomed inside by a young man.

Fang Chen muttered to himself, ”He looks exactly the same, and he even shares the same first and last name. Then it is undoubtedly the very same person.”

”Those who can associate with the God Race are bound to be extraordinary as well, likely originating from the twelve powerful races.” Wang Chongsong sighed. ”If we could form a connection with figures of this caliber, the decline of the human race could be swept away in an instant.”

Fang Chen cast a glance at Wang Chongsong. ”If an ant asked you to help it kill a cockroach, would you help it?”

Wang Chongsong let out a self-deprecating laugh. ”Naturally, I wouldn’t bother to pay it any heed.”

Fang Chen smiled. ”Let’s go back to the inn.”

The two returned to the inn and went back to their respective rooms.

Should I use divine soul projection or use the Shadow Buddha Technique?

He wanted to head over to Lang Daochun’s side to take a look, but he was worried those two methods would fail in this place and he would be discovered.

The time for him to leave had not yet arrived. He couldn’t leave. If he died in here, he would truly die. He feared that even his soul would fall under the jurisdiction of the Soul Race, leaving him no chance to reunite with the Zhu Long.

After pondering for a brief moment, Fang Chen decided to forget about it. He would simply wait in the inn for the Saint Tower Battle to begin.

Another few days passed.

Suddenly, the sound of bells began ringing throughout Longsheng City. Fang Qianxue brought the divinity users of the Fang Clan down to the inn’s front hall. Here, Fang Chen and the others finally crossed paths with the divine ability users from the other Saint Alliances. Several Half Saints had arrived. Half Saint Jinwu and Half Saint Zangxue were among them.

Each of the ten Saints had sent one or two hundred divine ability cultivators to participate in the Saint Tower Battle. Altogether, there were between one and two thousand humans gathered in the hall. It sounded like a large number, but the inn itself was huge, so they only occupied one of its corners.

Foreign races occupied other spots of the hall. They didn’t pay heed to the human race.

Half Saint Zangling sat together with Half Saint Jinwu and the others, conversing in low voices.

The divine ability users of the various factions were also sizing each other up. Aside from those with private alliances, the remaining individuals were not only of the same race but also competitors.

Fang Qianxue swept her gaze across the group of Half Saints, her gaze briefly intersecting with Half Saint Zangxue’s. She then turned toward the Fang Clan’s divine ability users and reminded, ”The bell of the Saint Tower has already begun to toll. After the ninth toll, we will receive the summons to enter. Prepare yourselves.”
