Immortal of the Nine Realms

Xie Zian’s expression shifted, his face filled with shock. He couldn’t comprehend when this man had arrived, and why he hadn’t sensed his arrival at all.

Why were the Xie Clan cultivators at this moment also turning a blind eye to him?

Fang Chen smiled faintly. ”Take him.”

Naturally, Du Yunxu did not need to make a move. That lowly Day Walker Lieutenant reacted instantly, forcibly suppressing his shock as he charged straight at Xie Zian.

”You dare touch me?!” roared Xie Zian angrily, sweeping his sleeve.

The Day Walker Lieutenant was startled, but when he saw nothing happen, he realized that the person before him had become nothing but a powerless wandering soul.

Against a wandering soul, a flick of his finger was all he needed.

Xie Zian was dragged to Fang Chen’s feet by the Day Walker Lieutenant. Only then did he realize that he was already dead, now nothing but a lonely ghost. The immortal arts he once wielded no longer had anything to do with him.

Just now, when he had swept his sleeve, let alone casting his secret art, he could not even stir up the faintest breeze.

Xie Zian forced himself to appear calm, his gaze locked firmly onto Fang Chen. ”Who exactly are you people?”

Fang Chen and Du Yunxu exchanged a smile, neither acknowledging Xie Zian nor bringing him back to the Underworld.

The matter was not yet over. Only by seeing the outcome could it be considered complete.

Seeing that they didn’t even bother to respond to him, Xie Zian’s heart seethed with anger. However, with his fists now useless, all he could think to do was hurl out curses. But barely had the first insult left his lips than the Day Walker Lieutenant hooked through both his upper and lower lips. He bound him up tightly with chains like a rice dumpling and tossed him aside.

That Day Walker Lieutenant could not help sighing. How many years had he revered the True Immortals within the Immortal Gate Forbidden Land?

Who would have thought that one day, the head of these True Immortals would become a wandering soul he could so easily subdue?

The Day Walker Lieutenant was secretly astounded. So even the greatest figures of the Mortal Realm are nothing but wandering souls after death... it seems the Underworld is the true path.

Never in his life had Xie Zian suffered such humiliation. For him, a dignified fourth-transformation Immortal, it was one thing not to be honored after death, but to be insulted to this degree! He longed to bite off his own tongue in suicide, but for a wandering soul, dying again... was not so easy.

He bit down several times to no effect. He could only force down his anger and begin to analyze his situation.

At the same time, he observed what would happen to Xie Luo and Xie Feng after his death, for he knew there was more than one fourth-transformation Immortal who had struck at him. Otherwise, how could he have been defeated and killed so quickly?

If these Loose Immortals had not yet left and still intended to deal more blows, the Xie Clan could very well face complete extermination today. After all, if their core members all died, those clansmen who had not come would not survive long either, for over the years, the Xie Clan had made no small number of enemies.

”Just now... did we see wrongly? Could it have been an illusion?”

Several Xie Clan main branch elders spoke up, looking to Xie Luo and Xie Feng for the answer they wanted to hear.

Unfortunately, with Xie Luo and Xie Feng’s cultivation, they could easily tell the difference between an illusion and reality.

The one who had struck just now was not weaker in cultivation than Xie Zian. Now that there was no more sound from the skies, it meant the battle was over. Either Xie Zian had repelled the enemy, or he had been defeated; those were the only two possibilities.

What need was there for any illusion? To strike against the Xie Clan, such a being had no use for mere psychological tricks.

The corpse... was real.

”Ancestor Zian... is dead,” said Xie Luo slowly. Seeing the crowd’s faces twist in shock, about to cry out, he waved his hand to stop them. ”Let us not throw ourselves into chaos. The one who acted may not have left yet.”

The crowd hastily swallowed their words. They glanced around in the sky with grave faces, looking uneasy.

In Xie Feng’s mind flashed hundreds of possible scenarios. If they too faced such peril today, how would the Xie Clan survive in the days ahead? What fate awaited them?

In the end, he could only reach one conclusion—annihilation.

The strongest and most prestigious ancestor of the Xie Clan had been slain. Once the news spread, without an Immortal of their own to sit in town, their long-standing enemies would tear them limb from limb. There was no other possibility.

Even the Myriad Immortal Palace could not protect them, for it would never station an Immortal permanently to guard the Xie Clan.

After a long wait with no movement in the skies, everyone finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Xie Luo said with a complex look, ”The one who acted this time was not targeting our Xie Clan, but had a personal vendetta with Ancestor Zian.”

Several main branch cultivators wanted to refute this, but after some thought, they stayed silent.

One of them cupped his hands and said, ”You two, now that Ancestor Zian has passed, the main line does not wish to pursue anything further. We only hope to return peacefully to our seat of guard and enter closed-door cultivation.”

Xie Feng calmly replied, ”We understand. As long as the two of us are here, the main line will not perish. Though in recent years there has been much strife between the main branch and our branches, we are still kin from the same root. It is not as if we will strike at you just because Ancestor Zian has died; there is neither need nor desire for that. You need not worry.”

The crowd relaxed, but then Xie Feng’s tone hardened. ”Simply hand over the immortal medicine Ancestor Zian kept, and either Xie Luo or I will certainly advance to the fourth transformation Immortal, enough to restore the Xie Clan’s prestige.”

The faces of the main-line Loose Immortals darkened. They looked at Xie Luo, and seeing him remain silent, they understood. If they did not hand over that herb now, and still clung to old excuses, they would thoroughly enrage the other branches.

The only second-transformation Immortal of the main branch, Xie Chang, sighed lightly.

”To be frank with you, Ancestor Zian did indeed acquire a fourth transformation immortal medicine. But only he knew where such a precious item was kept. We have no idea where it might be.”

Fearing they would not believe him, he quickly added, ”You two can come to the main line’s grounds to see for yourselves. We naturally hope you can find the medicine. Only then can we stabilize the clan’s situation.”

Hearing Xie Chang admit this, Xie Luo and Xie Feng’s expressions softened. They also knew Xie Chang could not possibly know where it was hidden.

”The Myriad Immortal Palace should still have Ancestor Zian’s Life Lantern. Let us not leave for now, but wait for their cultivators to arrive. Beyond that, we must also use some of our connections in the Floating Pagoda Realm and the Lesser Underworld to find Ancestor Zian’s wandering soul and ask him where the medicine is.”

Xie Luo spoke in a deep voice. ”At this point, Ancestor Zian will no longer hide it from us. He surely understands that the Xie Clan needs a fourth-transformation Immortal to hold the fort.”

Indeed, Xie Zian thought the same, but now his wandering soul was already bound, and the other side had heard mention of the fourth transformation Immortal Herb. It seemed matters would not go as Xie Luo wished.

Thinking of this, Xie Zian made muffled noises, indicating he wanted to speak.

The Day Walker Lieutenant glanced at Fang Chen. Upon receiving permission, he removed the hook from Xie Zian’s lips.

”The fourth transformation Immortal Herb is yours, but you must take me to Myriad Immortal City,” Xie Zian said.

By the Myriad Immortal City, naturally meant the city established by the Myriad Immortal Palace in the Floating Pagoda Realm.
