Immortal of the Nine Realms

After Jing Xue left, Hu Qian appeared somewhat at a loss. She hesitated to speak, looking like she wanted to explain but was afraid to do so.

”You don’t need to be nervous. I already know everything I need to. Now, tell me, which member of the Spirit God Sect is behind this?” Fang Chen asked with a smile.

”This paltry subordinate has no dealings with the Spirit God Sect, Monarch Fang. You’re really mistaken,” Hu Qian replied, looking aggrieved.

When her beautiful face portrayed such an expression, ordinary men couldn’t help but feel more pity for her.

Even Wu Wei felt the same, and he tried to plead on her behalf. “Monarch Fang... when Lord Black was attacked... it was Lord Hu who saved him, this matter—”

Just then, Wu Wei saw Fang Chen flick his finger, and a dull stream of dark energy instantly rushed into Hu Qian’s body.

A look of disbelief flashed on Hu Qian’s face. Soon, her gaze turned venomous as she glared at Fang Chen. “You are so cruel!”

Her soul burst instantly, scattering into specks of light and dissipating.

Wu Wei immediately shut his mouth, feeling a chill in his heart.

Little Black was taken aback by the sudden attack as well. He instinctively asked, ”Shouldn’t you have asked her a few more questions, my lord?”

Fang Chen shook his head with a smile. ”There’s no point.”

Little Black pondered for a moment and gradually realized the situation.

Soon after, You Fang and Jing Xue entered, and seeing that Hu Qian was not there, Jing Xue frowned and asked about it. Upon learning of Hu Qian’s death, Jing Xue was stunned for a long time.

”Monarch Fang, you killed a Night Walker God without any evidence?” You Fang growled in anger. ”We of the Night Walker lineage have our own Monarchs! They are the ones to handle such matters. You’re a Day Walker Monarch. What gave you the right to interfere?”

”Monarch You, that’s not the point,” responded Fang Chen. “If I asked you to mobilize your subordinates to cleanse the Spirit God Sect followers from the underworld, how long would it take you to prepare?”

You Fang was so angry that she started laughing. ”Cleanse the Spirit God Sect followers? Do you know how many there are in the underworld? Even in the most remote cities, there could be tens of thousands. To clear them out, even if all the Nether Guards were deployed, it wouldn’t be done in less than a year or two!”

After a pause, she continued, ”Moreover, I’m not going to do this for you. You say the Spirit God Sect is troubling you, but where’s the evidence? Not only did you kill a Night Walker God without evidence, but now you want to strike at the Spirit God Sect without proof. Are you trying to cause chaos in the underworld? Do you know that besides the Yin Walkers, there are also many wandering souls from the Spirit God Sect?”

”Monarch You, calm down,” Jing Xue interjected. He then turned to Fang Chen and said seriously, ”About Hu Qian, you need to give me an explanation.”

”There is no need for that. If you two can handle what I am asking, then so be it. If not, you can step down from your positions and make way for people who can. I’ll have someone else take over,” Fang Chen bluntly said. ”There are plenty in the underworld with the strength of a Monarch. All they lack is an opportunity.”

Wu Wei was stunned.

Did I just hear that right? Did this Day Walker Monarch just tell the Monarchs of the Nether Guards Division and a Night Walker Monarch to step down?

You Fang and Jing Xue were stunned into silence. It was a while before they recovered from their daze.

”What did you just say?” You Fang asked, still not believing her ears.

”I’ll ask one more time—will the Nether Guards Division obey my order or not?” Fang Chen said calmly.

You Fang’s expression darkened. He stared hard at Fang Chen as if trying to discern something. ”You’re just a Day Walker Monarch; why should the Nether Guards Division listen to your orders? To put it bluntly, I am the Monarch of the Nether Guards Division, not you.”

”Nether Guards, Day Walker, and Night Walker... All of us should act together,” said Fang Chen matter-of-factly. “The Spirit God Sect’s borrowed knives tried to ambush and kill my men. They even tried to frame the Judgment Division as the culprits. They seek to cause chaos in the underworld.”

Fang Chen stared at the two. “As a Monarch, you should fulfill your duty. I’ll ask you again. Is your Nether Guards Division willing to obey the order?”

”I don’t give a damn about any of that! What right do you have to dismiss me?” You Fang burst out angrily.

Pointing at Fang Chen’s nose, she started going on a rant. ”I’ve had enough of you! I’ve disliked you ever since you arrived! Ever since you showed up, the underworld has been nothing but chaotic. Collecting Yin Lifespan Coins from the Yin Walkers? Making the Underworld Official Division and the Soul Capturing Division reappear to embarrass my Nether Guards Division?

“Which of these matters doesn’t involve you? Do you realize how many of your messes we had to clean up? Do you know how much trouble your decisions cause behind the scenes?”

You Fang’s voice was loud—loud enough that nearly everyone in the Nether Guards Division could hear her. Their faces revealed looks of astonishment and uncertainty.

You Fang’s confidants heard the commotion and rushed over, but they were stopped by several Day Walker Gods.

”The Monarchs are discussing matters inside; it’s best not to disturb them,” one of the Day Walker Gods said calmly.

”Something is obviously wrong inside. Your Day Walker Monarch has a bad temper; he wouldn’t hurt our Monarch, would he?”

You Fang’s confidants frowned. ”If that’s the case... It wouldn’t look good for us.”

”Let us in. We won’t interfere. We just want to ensure our Monarch’s safety.”

The Day Walker Gods shook their heads, not allowing them to pass. ”No one can enter without Monarch Fang’s permission; those are the rules.”

Tension hung thick until a group of people arrived. Seeing the newcomers, You Fang’s subordinates all wore strange expressions.

Monarch Qiu Jing of the Reincarnation Division?

It was well known that Monarch Qiu Jing looked down on the Nether Guards Division, and deigned to set foot inside for many years.

Why is he here today?

Qiu Jing stopped and looked at You Fang’s confidants. ”What are you all standing around for? Aren’t you afraid of embarrassing You Fang?”

You Fang’s confidants were immediately stunned.

One of them said, ”Monarch Qiu, this is the Nether Guards Division. What do you mean by that?”

”Oh? This is the Nether Guards Division, huh? I almost forgot,” Qiu Jing laughed. He looked at the Day Walker Gods. ”Lord Fang called me here. Can I go in?”

The Day Walker Gods nodded immediately.

”Please enter, Monarch Qiu.”

As Qiu Jing entered the hall, he caught Fang Chen speaking.

”Monarch You, when chaos arises in the underworld, it is your duty to resolve it and follow the laws—not keep quiet to avoid trouble, shirking the responsibilities you should bear.

“The Yin Walkers earn Yin Coins here without paying a dime. Tell me, is that reasonable?

“The Underworld Official Division and the Soul Capturing Division have existed since ancient times, but now they’ve become so ineffective that even dogs are reluctant to join them. Tell me, do you think that’s reasonable?”

You Fang coldly stared at Fang Chen. ”That’s for Monarch Yan to decide, not you.”

”Then consider me acting on behalf of Monarch Yan. I won’t remove you from your position; you’re still a Monarch. But it’s time to change your post,” Fang Chen said with a light laugh, reaching out toward You Fang.

A wave of purple energy swirled, and unbelievably, You Fang’s Monarch Armor was forcibly removed.

You Fang was in disbelief as he tried to resist, but no matter what he did, the armor would not return to his body, and it soon ended up in Fang Chen’s hands.

Watching what happened, Jing Xue, Qiu Jing, and Wu Wei were all shocked.

Having lost his Monarch Armor, You Fang has effectively lost his official status.

Had You Fang really been stripped of his position?
