Immortal of the Nine Realms

In the underworld, Qianyang City.

The purpose of Fang Chen’s journey to the underworld this time wasn’t for Qianyang City, but since he was in Prison Wind Lands and didn’t want any information leaking, he chose Qianyang City since it was under Little White’s jurisdiction. was the one who was managed by Little White to avoid leaking any information.

The underworld had one similarity with the Mortal Realm: places that are too far from one another wouldn’t interact together.

For instance, Qianyang City corresponded to the Five Elements Realm. The cost in Yin Lifespan Coins to travel from a place like Baiyue City to Qianyang City would be astronomical.

If one held an official rank, the cost would also depend on how high their rank was. For example, a Day Walker God would be able to transfer over from the capital.

Once outside the capital, crossing such vast territories was no easy task.

As everyone crossed the Forgotten River, they could see Little White from afar, standing alone quietly waiting at the city gate.

Along the way, having traversed the Yellow Springs and crossed the Forgotten River, Zhao Mingxuan and the other’ horizons were truly broadened. They grew increasingly unsure about Fang Chen’s origins.

Laying eyes on this massive city within the underworld, they were shocked.

They had heard from the monks of the Yin Holy Sects about the underworld, though the monks had never spoken about it in detail. Today, they were witnessing it firsthand.

Zhao Mingxuan’s gaze flickered. If the monks from the Yin Holy Sect happened to be venturing into the underworld and saw us, wouldn’t news spread back to the Mortal Realm?

As long as his father knew who the killer was, the rest would be easy to handle. They might even ask a monk from the Yin Holy Sect to bring them back to the Mortal Realm to see if there was a chance for reincarnation.

Upon seeing Fang Chen, Little White’s lips curved into a strange smile. He slowly approached and gave Fang Chen a bow. ”Hope you have been well, my lord.”

Zhao Mingxuan and the others were startled. Again with this ’lord’ stuff?

Seeing the odd appearance of the paper figure, the group stole a glance at Empress Ci, and a guess formed in their minds, sending a chill racing down their spines.

Could it be... that he was a Loose Immortal from the underworld? Not only were there Loose Immortals in the underworld... They could also appear in the Mortal Realm?

As this thought surfaced in their minds, they were left both shocked and terrified.

As for Fang Chen’s origins, they continued to speculate. The sword cultivator before them... might have origins in the underworld...

Fang Chen glanced at the white paper figure. ”Have you adjusted well to this place during this time?”

Judging from the yin energy emanating from Little White, Fang Chen could sense that his cultivation had risen from the Enlightenment Realm to the Soul Splitting Realm. It even seemed he wasn’t too far from the Fusion Realm either.

This further proved that the underworld was the most suitable place for spirits and ghosts to cultivate. Of course, Little White’s current status played a major role, too.

”I have become very accustomed to here, my lord. Even more so than when I was in the Mortal Realm.” Little White laughed. ”Here, my cultivation has been improving very quickly.”

The underworld was filled with the power of karma, and the currency here contained even denser karma. When these two factors were stacked, the underworld was nothing short of a paradise for the white paper figure’s cultivation. Not to mention that he held a high position as a Dao Walker God.

Every period, he would collect a decent amount of Yin Lifespan Coins. The number wasn’t anything significant to a Day Walker God, but to Little White, it meant that his cultivation was constantly improving, bringing him much joy.

It wouldn’t take long for him to finally reach a cultivation level appropriate for the position he held.

At that moment, Little White noticed Sun Gu, who was still clapping, and was surprised. ”Why is this person clapping, my lord? Is there something to celebrate?”

Sun Gu’s face flushed red, yet he dared not stop.

Zhao Mingxuan and Nangong Yuancheng suddenly felt lucky. Compared to Sun Gu, they had faced little trouble. He was the only truly miserable.

Fang Chen laughed. ”Yeah, maybe he’s celebrating their successful journey into the underworld.”

Everyone’s expressions twisted at Fang Chen’s joke.

As they followed Little White into Qianyang City and headed toward the Nether Guards Division, they listened to Little White describe the local situation.

The former Day Walker God of Qianyang City had been dismissed by Fang Chen. After Little White took over, the local officials and Night Walker Gods knew that he was backed by a Day Walker Monarch and started to behave very obediently.

Even when Fang Chen’s new regulations were promoted and they began taxing Yin Walkers, there was little resistance.

”Recently, some officials from the Underworld Official Division and the Soul Capturing Division came from the capital to establish branches here. When I heard that you’ve given your approval regarding this, my lord, I didn’t stop them.”

Fang Chen nodded. ”I am aware of that, but the Underworld Official Division and the Soul Capturing Division have been neglected for many years. It will be a while before they regain their former authority, which will also affect the Nether Guards Division and the Judgment Division. You don’t need to intervene. Just watch them fight it out.”

A smile appeared on Little White’s face. ”Understood.”

From his understanding of Fang Chen, this was another of his schemes, and the other party probably knew it but had to fall for it.

”How is Little Black doing? Has he encountered any trouble?” Fang Chen asked.

Little White’s face fell at the mention of Little Black. He replied, ”No big trouble, everyone has been quite respectful. But some time ago, he was targeted in an assassination attempt. The assailant was a person from the underworld.”

Fang Chen’s expression darkened. ”Did you catch him?”

”He escaped, and if not for the intervention of the Night Walker God of Hujiao City, he might have really been in trouble,” Little White explained.

Fang Chen frowned. ”Du Yunxu must have visited you. Why didn’t you report this to him? He would have told me.”

Little White smiled. ”Little Black said... he wants to settle the score himself. He’s been investigating that person lately, and he’s starting to get some leads.”

Fang Chen nodded.

Soon, the group entered the Nether Guards Division, where the guards bowed respectfully to Little White upon seeing him.

”Lord White.”

”Lord White.”

They then curiously glanced at Fang Chen and his companions.

As they walked along, officials from the lineage of the Day Walker Gods, seeing Little White, dared not neglect him.

A Day Walker God’s subordinates would consist of 2 Day Walker Marshals, 10 Day Walker Generals, 50 Day Walker Officers, and 300 Day Walker Soldiers.

Because the predecessor had been dismissed, his confidants naturally lost their official positions. Since Little White took over, the appointments were not yet complete. He only had 1 Day Walker Marshal, 3 Day Walker Generals, tens of Day Walker Officers, and slightly over 100 Day Walker Soldiers.

Little White led Fang Chen to the prison. The cells were numerous, and even with hundreds locked up, it still seemed empty.

Fang Chen took a seat, and Sun Gu and Zhao Mingxuan knelt down before him with their heads bowed.

He said, ”Tell me about the Yin Holy Sect you just mentioned. Do they have a lot of experience venturing into the underworld? Where do they mostly operate?”

Unlike Sun Gu, who continued to clap as Fang Chen hadn’t asked him to stop, Nangong Yuancheng heard this and trembled. Quietly sitting to one side, he didn’t dare make a beep.

”The Yin Holy Sect is indeed very skilled in traversing the underworld...” answered Sun Gu while clapping. ”Minghu, Qiufeng, Longyuan, Sihui... There are many sects and noble clans among them, but only the Yin Holy Sect knows the Soul Crossing Ritual.”

Fang Chen was surprised. ”Such a vast place, and only the Yin Holy Sect knows it?”

Sun Gu spoke softly. ”It’s said that long ago, the Yin Holy Sect was a branch of the Three Qing Supreme Sect, hence they know many Daoist secrets. The method for traversing the underworld was one of the methods they knew.”

Fang Chen and Empress Ci exchanged glances.

Three Qing Supreme Sect?

It seems that in the nine mortal realms, more people were aware of the name of the Three Qing Supreme Sect than of the Three Thousand Dao Sect.

One of the three major sects in Qiufeng turned out to be from a Daoist lineage. This was something Fang Chen hadn’t expected.

Perhaps even Li Changsheng didn’t know this connection. If he knew that the Three Thousand Dao Gate was the Three Qing Supreme Sect, perhaps cultivators from Qiufeng would have already come to the Central Continent Empire to seek his master’s whereabouts.
