Immortal of the Nine Realms

Chapter 909: I’ll teach you the Path Of Yin Technique

Fang Chen smiled. ”Why have you gone silent now? Weren’t you going to invite me for a drink?”

Qi Zhan’s gaze was gloomy. ”You can see us too?”

They had taken a ride on the Immortal Boat with Fang Chen and not once had they felt he could see them.

They couldn’t help but wonder whether he was toying with them.

Fang Chen continued smiling. ”Where are we grabbing the drink?”

Qi Zhan was silent for a moment, then chuckled lightly. ”So what if you can see us? That just means you were born with the ability to see spirits. Seeing is one thing, but touching is another. If you had the means, you would have scattered our souls long ago, wouldn’t you? You wouldn’t need to pretend you can’t see us.”

Snake Killing King and others breathed a sigh of relief.

Qi Zhan’s words knocked some sense into them. After all, if Fang Chen had the means to harm them, he would have acted long ago, instead of just watching them hover around.

”This is the separation between Yin and Yang,” said Fang Chen. ”Even as cultivators, we can’t affect spirits.”

Qi Zhan sighed softly. ”Well, that’s good then. No need for that young lady to pass on the message. Same as before, when you come down, I’ll invite you for a drink.”

Qing He quietly approached Fang Chen and curiously asked, ”Lord Fang, can you see these ghosts too?”

Fang Chen nodded with a smile.

Qing He looked happy to hear that. She softly advised, ”Being able to see them is not a problem; just pretend you can’t see them. There’s no need to dwell on their words since they can’t affect us. Don’t get annoyed by what they say.”

Fang Chen laughed. ”Looks like quite a few spirits have been rude to you over the years. Have they cursed at you?”

Qing He nodded. ”Some spirits are resentful after death because they can’t fulfill their lingering desires. When they become desperate, they curse a few times, but I’ve never taken it to heart, and you shouldn’t either.”

Seeing the two talk, the bystanders were somewhat relieved.

Rumor had it that Qing He could communicate with spirits since birth. Now it appeared that the rumors were true. It even turned out that even Fang Chen could do so.

”Perhaps those with extraordinary talents and remarkable bones possess some supernatural abilities not available to ordinary cultivators, like seeing deities and spirits....”

Qi Zhan chuckled. ”The young lady is right. Since you currently can’t do anything about us, you might as well pretend not to see or hear us. You don’t want us getting on your nerves.”

Qing He’s eyes flickered with concern.

She was worried that Fang Chen wouldn’t yet be accustomed to dealing with spirits and would take their words to heart. If he was annoyed and had no outlet to vent his frustration, his mental state might be affected.

Sensing Qing He’s concern, Fang Chen couldn’t help but smile. He lightly stamped his foot.

Immediately, Li Badao appeared. He bowed to Fang Chen, this time dressed neatly and seemingly well-prepared for the occasion.

”I pay my respects to you, my lord!”

Qing He was taken aback. ”This....”

Li Badao felt very strange to her. She could tell he was a spirit, but he was very different from the ordinary spirits she was familiar with. She found his yin energy unusually dense.

Seeing Li Badao, Qi Zhan was horrified; he felt no threat from Fang Chen but sensed a chilling aura from Li Badao that made all his hairs stand on end.

”No need for formalities,” Fang Chen said with a smile.

Li Badao was excited to have been summoned again. Fang Chen had summoned him repeatedly, indicating he considered him a confidant.

With this thought, Li Badao glanced around and saw Qi Zhan and the others, his face showing anger. ”You ghosts see the master and don’t kneel? What are you standing around for?”

Qi Zhan was stunned. ”Who are you?”

Li Badao immediately appeared in front of Qi Zhan and slapped him across the face.

Slap!

Qi Zhan’s form billowed with yin energy, his soul nearly scattering.

Snake Killing King and the other spirits sensed from Qi Zhan’s reaction a terrifying yin energy they couldn’t match. Their faces filled with horror as they retreated.

”Kneel down!” Li Badao ordered coldly. ”I won’t say it twice!”

Qi Zhan struggled to regain his senses. Faced with the threat of dispersal, he clenched his teeth and knelt.

Soon, a group of spirits knelt neatly before Fang Chen, their heads bowed with eyes filled with astonishment.

Li Badao bowed and asked, ”Lord, how should these spirits be dealt with? The one we captured earlier is still undergoing severe torture.”

Qi Zhan and the others recalled tales of the Underworld and wondered if Li Badao was a high ranking official from the Underworld.

Fang Chen glanced at Qing He and smiled. ”You’ve seen countless spirits over the years, but have you ever visited the Underworld to see the scenery there?”

Qing He subconsciously shook her head. ”Never....”

However, she quickly realized what Fang Chen was saying, looking shocked. ”Lord, does an Underworld really exist?”

Fang Chen nodded and smiled. ”Why not take the opportunity to see it? I’ll take you to visit the Underworld. Your ability to see souls might not seem extraordinary in the Mortal Realm, but if you go to the Underworld, it could be greatly beneficial to you.”

Qing He’s ability resembled his own Nine Heavens Profound Mother Primordial Spirit, both deeply connected to the Underworld.

His cultivation of the spirit in the Underworld was tens of times faster than in the mortal realm. Similarly, if Qing He went to the Underworld, it might unlock the unique powers of her eyes.

Qing He was visibly excited. ”If I could visit the underworld, that would indeed be wonderful!”

Hearing their conversation, the bystanders exchanged glances.

Visit the Underworld? Could such a thing truly be possible?

Fang Chen glanced at the crowd and produced some lamp oil. He formed them into lanterns with the power of Metal and distributed one to each person.

The bystanders looked at the lanterns before them in confusion.

”These are Soul Guiding Lanterns,” shared Fang Chen. ”The technique for traveling to the Underworld is becoming popular in the Central Continent Empire. In this remote area, it would’ve likely taken years, or perhaps a lifetime, for the technique to propagate here. Since we’re fated, I’ll directly teach you the technique. If you’re interested, you can join me on this journey.”

The crowd was invigorated.

Even the nuns of the Concealed Moon Hermitage, young and old, whispered excitedly among themselves. Could they also visit the Underworld? Would they be able to see what spirits looked like? They had only ever heard descriptions of spirits from Qing He but had never seen them with their own eyes.

Even the usually composed Abbess Zhu Yue seemed a bit curious and tempted.

”Lord, can I also visit the Underworld?” asked the old hen, curious.

Being of the demon race, she was quite different from humans.

”It’s worth a try,” said Fang Chen, considering thoughtfully.

He realized he had never seen demon cultivators in the Lesser Underworld, though it was different in the Greater Underworld....

The Tai Yin Dragon King was of the demon race.

It appeared that, like immortals, when demons died, they also went to the Greater Underworld and not the Lesser Underworld....

That means there must be a path in the Yellow Springs from the Mortal Realm to the Greater Underworld, or perhaps another from the Immortal Realm there... Fang Chen mused.

He had not detected these paths, perhaps due to his incomplete mastery of Monarch Yan’s Seal or because his cultivation was too low.
