Warhammer Divine Throne

Then, the Wizards would infuse magic power into the scrolls, which is a task requiring great skill. If too much magic power is infused, there is a danger of explosion and self-triggering of the scroll, especially with destructive spells. If too little magic power is infused, the spell may not trigger at all.

A Third Ring Wizard can only create a First Ring Magic Scroll, and a Sixth Ring Legendary Wizard can at most make a Fourth Ring Magic Scroll, and so on. It’s worth mentioning that to use a Magic Scroll, the user must have some degree of Magic Talent and be able to read the words on it, which makes the audience for Magic Scrolls even smaller.

”Magic Missile, a One Ring Shaping Element Spell, fires three energy bolts towards the target. It is a basic spell that every Wizard Apprentice can master,” Laine muttered to himself.

The principle of this spell is quite simple: condense magic into energy bolts and strike a target. Laine quickly deciphered this spell using Spiritual Energy and then replicated it according to its spell structure: ”Magic Missile!”

Exactly as he imagined, Spiritual Energy can also simulate the release of Magic Missile. However, just the same, the Magic Missile, which originally had a range of at least fifty meters, dissipated completely in the air after only flying about ten meters.

”This means that a spell simulated by Spiritual Energy cannot travel more than about ten meters from my body.” Laine recalled his father’s teachings in a dream: ”Spiritual Energy, immensely powerful, is also the source of downfall. You must use this force wisely.”

”Now, let’s try this.” Laine gathered the Spiritual Energy in his body to the center of his hand, then spread his five fingers open, causing the Spiritual Energy to form into silver-white rays of light, instantly lighting up the dark forest. Under the scorching glow of Spiritual Energy, the withered trees nearby, eroded by Chaos Energy, suddenly underwent a transformation; the black Chaos Energy receded, and branches and green leaves grew anew.

No, it wasn’t the black Chaos Energy that receded.

Laine’s Spiritual Energy utterly shattered those Chaos Energies!

But soon, the intense light of Spiritual Energy not only drove away the Chaos Energy, but its own intense destructive power quickly burned these trees, which had just managed to escape the torment of Chaos Energy, into charcoal.

The smell of burning invaded Laine’s nostrils, making the White Wolf Knight feel very uncomfortable.

”Too much is as bad as too little, my Spiritual Energy can purify the taint, but in essence, it is still a terrifyingly destructive force. I need to practice controlling it. Maybe this is the trial my father intended for me.” Laine nodded, intending to stand up when suddenly a gust of wind blew from the depths of the forest.

Once again, white Divine Fire appeared in the forest, the wind danced wildly, and withered branches covered the ground. Laine suddenly widened his eyes and instinctively knelt on one knee: ”My Lord!”

In the depth of winter, the white flame was the descent of the will of White Wolf War God Yurik!

The Divine Fire did not materialize; it merely hovered high in the air before slowly entering Laine’s sea of consciousness.

”Boy, we meet again.” In Laine’s sea of consciousness, the white Divine Fire spoke.

”I offer my respect to you, great Wolf God. White Wolf Knight Laine is here to listen to your teachings!” Laine’s face displayed a mix of surprise and joy. It was well known that White Wolf War God Yurik rarely responded to the prayers of his followers, seldom issued oracular messages, and even less often descended upon the Prime Material World. His only descent action was to personally come down to battle Chaos during the first Chaos Invasion.

Since then, this Wolf God has never even dispatched an avatar to appear in the Prime Material Plane. He treats his followers with relative coolness, especially when weak ones pray to him for protection, often leaving them unanswered. Only his beloved White Wolf Knight Order leaders and the Church Archbishop occasionally have a chance to communicate with him.

After Charlemagne killed the Chaos Chosen Moka and repelled the Chaos Army, Yurik blessed Charlemagne and his empire, and asked him to build a ”worthy” temple for him in the northern part of the empire. The empire had no reason to refuse—after all, the Wolf God had personally descended to fight the Chaos Army. Thus, one of the world’s most spectacular temples, the White Wolf Divine Hall, was built on the mountains and cliffs of the Wolrich Prince-Elector’s Territory in the northern empire. Over the millennia of development, humans, relying on the White Wolf Divine Hall, have built one of the few major cities in the Prime Material World, White Wolf City.

”So you’re Laine, the adopted son of that bald Norman? I must say, you look nothing like him.” Yurik’s first words left Laine bewildered. ”When you get a chance, tell your adoptive father not to keep hoping I can help him regrow his hair during prayers. Such things he should pray to Sallya for, not me.”

Sallya, the Merciful Goddess, also known as the Medical Goddess.

Laine, apart from giving an awkward laugh and expressing compliance, couldn’t say anything else: ”Understood, I abide by your oracle, my Lord.”

”Enough of that! I didn’t send my avatar to talk about this. Boy, your previous offerings indicate there are major impure Chaos Creatures haunting these mountains. Go, bring me its head, as it would be the best Winter Festival gift for me.” With these words, the white Divine Fire was about to disappear, but Laine hurriedly spoke: ”Um… I’ve encountered some matters I do not understand.”

”Speak!” The white Divine Fire wobbled.

”…Understood.” Laine lowered his head, indicating he understood, then, hesitating, the White Wolf Knight spoke up: ”I heard the great my Lord possesses a long lifespan and abundant experience. Do you know anything about the Ancient Saints?”

”You actually know about the Ancient Saints? I thought after thousands of years, aside from a few long-ears and a handful of bookworm hermits, no one would know about the Ancient Saints.” Yurik’s tone showed a tremor for the first time.

...

...

”Boom!” A heavy Flying Axe cleaved through an entire tree, slicing the trunk right in half and causing all the thorns and branches to shatter instantly. With every step it took, the Giant Minotaur made the ground tremble. Its face was covered by a white skull, obscuring any expression. Only its mouth and nostrils spewed massive amounts of mist: ”Huff… kill!”

”Soul of the Jungle!” Elldrad waved his staff, and nearby trees, under the glow of emerald light, underwent transformation. They uprooted themselves and rushed toward the Minotaur.

The actions of the Giant Minotaur showed not even a hint of sluggishness as it made its way towards Elldrad. A Tree-man charged from the left, but it didn’t even glance that way, sweeping its War Axe and cutting the Tree-man in two. The few Tree-men summoned by Elldrad failed completely to hinder its footsteps.

The massive hooves trampled the forest floor, each step drawing closer, and Elldrad felt the mounting pressure.

”If that’s the case…” Elldrad shoved his staff into the ground forcefully, taking a deep breath. His tattered clothes stretched with his movement, fur sprouted on his wrinkled skin, his nose elongated, and he prepared to fight using his claws and teeth.

Druids like Elldrad have no particularly offensive spells, so he decided to use his own claws and fangs to battle.

Just as Elldrad was deciding to transform into a wolf, the corner of the Giant Minotaur’s mouth curled into a strange smile. A putrid energy gathered upon it, as if about to overwhelm the heavens and earth, while he slashed, leaving a huge cut deep enough to expose bone on the Druid’s chest, stretching from his right hip to his left shoulder. The wooden Defense Array erected by Elldrad was brushed aside as if it were made of paper, while the giant shadow of the Minotaur loomed over the shape-shifting Elldrad, all the while being held off by a few Tree-men that had caught Wicked Beastman’s hands and feet just in time.

”Uggh…” The beast-like form of Elldrad dissipated swiftly as he returned to his human form, slumping on the forest floor, clutching his wound. The pain made breathing almost impossible, and his face, already wrinkled, became even more so. Meanwhile, the Giant Minotaur opened its large mouth and laughed wildly, blood-red fluid dripping from its mouth, the filthy energy shining ever brighter, as it gradually closed in on Elldrad.

Elldrad gasped for air as the Giant Minotaur approached step by step.
