Martial God Asura

Chapter 6356: Unraveling the Truth

Song Yun smiled joyously, but her surprise was only limited to her words—she didn’t look surprised in the least. She had expected Chu Feng to make consecutive breakthroughs here.

But Chu Feng was surprised.

Making consecutive breakthroughs in True God level was no easy feat, not to mention he was already at rank three True God level. It would take a significant fortuitous encounter for him to achieve such a feat.

Yet, Song Yun easily achieved it.

On top of that, she had many formidable treasures as well. The bizarre daggers were one, but that black cloth that concealed phenomena was a big deal too. Chu Feng had sensed that he had entered another space. He had never seen such a treasure before.

He couldn’t help but wonder what kind of fortuitous encounter Song Yun had attained.

Is it the Netherworld Tower?

The Netherworld Tower was a place created by the Netherworld Sect’s founder, and so far, almost no one had returned alive from it. The last time he heard, Song Yun had entered the Netherworld Tower.

“That’s quite a fortuitous encounter. Did you obtain it from the Netherworld Tower?” Chu Feng asked.

He figured it would be better to ask her straight than to speculate. There was no need for him to beat around the bush, considering their relationship.

“How do you know about the Netherworld Tower, big brother Chu Feng?” Sign Yun asked.

“That Netherworld Envoy who brought you into the Netherworld Sect told me,” Chu Feng replied.

“Him? He was handsomely rewarded for bringing me into the Netherworld Sect, though it seems like he is dead,” Song Yun said.

“Dead?”

“Mmhm. I couldn’t find him anywhere.”

“I see...”

“Hold on, big brother Chu Feng. Did you meet him after I entered the Netherworld Tower?”

“I did.”

Chu Feng didn’t withhold information. He told her about his encounter with the Netherworld Envoy, including the latter talking about Song Yun’s imprisonment and coercing him into taking the Netherworld Embryo God Summoning Altar’s trial.

“You have been to the Netherworld Embryo Spirituality Summoning Altar? And you went there because of me?” Song Yun asked.

“Why do you sound so shocked?” Chu Feng asked with a smile.

Song Yun’s expression had changed. She didn’t look as calm as before anymore.

“I didn’t think I was so important to you,” Song Yun teased.

“What are you saying? Do I look that heartless to you?” Chu Feng asked with a smile.

Song Yun didn’t say a word, but her smile looked more radiant than before. She even looked a little shy. All of a sudden, she frowned and murmured, “Wait a moment.”

“What’s wrong?” Chu Feng asked.

“Big brother Chu Feng, you were the one who induced the Netherworld Embryo God Summoning Altar’s red cloud phenomenon, right?” Song Yun asked.

“Red cloud phenomenon? What does it look like?” Chu Feng asked.

“The sky would be covered in red clouds. You weren’t the one behind it?”

“I don’t think so. I didn’t induce a phenomenon.”

“That can’t be. It must be you. You appeared around the same time as the red cloud phenomenon, and that Netherworld Envoy disappeared around that time, too. Baili Zilin must have killed that Netherworld Envoy to silence him, so that he can take credit for the red cloud phenomenon.”

“What’s going on?” Chu Feng asked.

“The Netherworld Embryo God Summoning Altar’s name comes from a saying. ‘When the red clouds cover the sky, the Netherworld God shall ascend to his throne.’ The person who induced the red cloud phenomenon is said to be the successor to the Netherworld King.

“Baili Zilin now commands the full support of the new faction, and some in the conservative faction are even wavering. And that’s all because he induced the red cloud phenomenon. It happened around the same time you visited the Netherworld Embryo God Summoning Altar. The time and location fit. I’m guessing that Baili Zilin challenged you afterward to silence you. He knows that you’re the only one who knows the truth other than the Netherworld Envoy.

“Yes, that must be the case.” Song Yun sounded increasingly certain.

She was a vigilant person. She investigated the Netherworld Envoy’s disappearance because the latter was related to her. She wanted to know if someone made a move on the Netherworld Envoy because they intended to harm her.

And now, it all made sense.

The Netherworld Envoy was killed not because of her but Chu Feng.

“I see.” Chu Feng nodded in realization.

“Hm?” Song Yun was surprised by Chu Feng’s sudden show of confidence.

“I sensed a powerful phenomenon emerging when I was standing before the Netherworld Embryo God Summoning Altar, but I suppressed it because I didn’t want to cause a commotion. My suppression worked, and no phenomenon emerged. But it looks like the phenomenon still emerged after I left. That explains Baili Zilin’s actions,” Chu Feng replied.

Chu Feng thought that Baili Zilin had challenged him out of arrogance, but Song Yun’s words made more sense.

“That must be the case. I should find a chance to embarrass Baili Zilin since he is unable to awaken the Netherworld Embryo God Summoning Altar,” Song Yun said.

“What a pity it is for the Netherworld Envoy.”

Chu Feng knew there was a good chance the Netherworld Envoy was dead.

Even though the Netherworld Envoy had tricked him into activating the Netherworld Embryo God Summoning Altar, only to renege on his promise and refuse to divulge the Netherworld Tower’s location afterward, he knew that the Netherworld Envoy wasn’t a bad person.

If anything, the Netherworld Envoy had helped them a lot.

For instance, he was the one who brought Song Yun into the Netherworld Sect. If not for that, she would have never reached her current level in a place like the Nine Souls Galaxy.

Similarly, Chu Feng’s Netherworld Embryo was planted by that Netherworld Envoy. He was initially averse to it, but he had advanced his cultivation through the Netherworld Embryo more than once. Naturally, it could be considered a fortuitous encounter for him.

“There’s no need to pity him. He benefited from us, too.”

Song Yun didn’t feel grateful to the Netherworld Envoy even though the latter had contributed more to her growth.

Chu Feng didn’t think much about it since everyone had their own perspective on matters.

Song Yun suddenly stared intently at Chu Feng. A smile like never before formed on her lips. It was very faint, but it looked beautiful. It felt far more sincere than her usual beaming smile.

“Why do you look so happy?”

“Big brother Chu Feng infiltrated the Netherworld Sect and took the risk to awaken the Netherworld Embryo God Summoning Altar for me. Isn’t that something worth being happy about?” Song Yun asked.

“I’m sure you wouldn’t leave me to the lurch if you knew something had happened to me, too. Besides, I wasn’t of any help to you,” Chu Feng said.

“I’m sure you could have helped me if the Netherworld Envoy told you where I was,” Song Yun replied.

“So, was your fortuitous encounter related to the Netherworld Tower?” Chu Feng asked once more.

“That’s right.” Song Yun nodded.

Chu Feng didn’t probe any further after satisfying his curiosity.

All of a sudden, Song Yun grimly bowed to Chu Feng. “I’m sorry, big brother Chu Feng.”

Chu Feng was confused by her action.

Song Yun explained, “I was the one who told the Ye Immortal Clan to capture our grandmother.”
