Chapter 1158 Mana Seals

The flames in Izrothʼs cauldron receded until all that remained was a small flickering ember. At the same time, the temperature inside of the cauldron dropped significantly.

Once most of the heat escaped, Izroth placed the Demonic Heart Lotus into the cauldron. The instant he did so, the cauldron trembled as the flames within roared.

ʼThe heat from the Demonic Heart Lotus is even greater than the Blazing Griffin Feather that can melt high grade metals. If I were using the Dark Abyssal Cauldron, there would be no need to worry about the cauldron breaking. If Iʼm careless in the slightest, the Demonic Heart Lotus will overwhelm the flames of the fire core and destroy the cauldron.ʼ

As the Demonic Heart Lotus brought the temperature of the cauldron up to its peak, Izroth added in the Extreme Yin Evil Roots.

The moment he performed this action, a bone-piercing chill flooded the cauldron. However, the chill was soon overtaken by the extreme heat from the Demonic Heart Lotus.

In this manner, the temperature of the cauldron continued to switch between extreme heat and extreme cold as the two opposing elements fought for dominance.

Though the winner of this battle would undoubtedly go in the favor of the mythical-ranked Demonic Heart Lotus. That is, if Izroth left things as they were.

Izroth clapped his hands together before performing a series of unique hand gestures. As he did so, Izrothʼs hands became coated in an aura of mana that slowly flowed toward the cauldron.

ʼCompared to some of the other pill recipes Iʼve seen in RML, this one is rather interesting. The Demonic Suppression Pill has a total of four ingredients. However, thatʼs only if one is counting what needs to be collected. These mana seals are used to supplement the lack of raw materials and reinforce the pill itself. Each mana seal is a unique sequence that has a different function. While itʼs probably impossible to craft a pill purely using these mana seals, it is the first time Iʼve seen such a unique approach to pill creation in RML.ʼ

The hand gestures Izroth utilized were demonstrated on the pill recipe for the Demonic Suppression Pill and labeled as ”mana seals”. This was Izrothʼs first time coming across something like mana seals in RML. But, from what he could tell, it was a powerful technique for pill crafting that transformed oneʼs mana into specific natural energies depending on the mana seal.

There were only a total of three unique mana seals on the pill recipe; however, there were four different combinations in which they had to be executed. Of course, Izroth was not worried about something as simple as memorizing a set of combinations.

Izroth kept a close eye on the battle between the Demonic Heart Lotus and Extreme Yin Evil Roots. One side of the cauldron was searing hot with dark purple flames. While the other side resembled a freezing blizzard that could turn everything in its path to ice.

As the two opposing forces pushed back and forth, there were a split moment where neither side held the advantage and things were perfectly balanced.

ʼNow.ʼ

When that moment arrived, Izroth immediately added the Stellar Jade Dust into the cauldron.

Rmmmble! Tssssst!

The cauldron shook as the extreme heat and extreme cold began to mesh together. Simultaneously, the Demonic Heart Lotus and Extreme Yin Evil Roots changed into liquid states.

The liquid states of the Demonic Heart Lotus and Extreme Yin Evil Roots joined with the Stellar Jade Dust as the rough appearance of a pill started to take shape.

Woosh!

When the pill showed its first signs of taking shape, Izroth swiftly poured the Dark-Stilled Liquid into the cauldron before he performed another set of mana seals. He controlled the temperature of the cauldron flawlessly as the pill completely shed off its rough appearance and formed into its complete shape.

The instant the pill took its complete shape, a strong medicinal scent spread throughout the surroundings.

”This scent is several times stronger than that one created when Palace Master Izroth crafted the Spiraling Flames Pill.” Autumn Winds commented.

”Thatʼs to be expected. It doesnʼt matter how impressive a grade one pill turns out. In the end, it canʼt possibly compare to a grade four pill.” Haishe said calmly.

”Somethingʼs happening. I think the pill is about to emerge.” Mystic Lock pointed out, causing everyoneʼs gaze to focus on Izroth and his cauldron.

Izroth finished the final set of mana seals as he clapped his hands together. Then, in the blink of an eye, the cauldron stopped shaking as a single pill rose from the cauldron.

ʼPerforming the mana seals requires a lot of mana. Itʼs a good thing I have the artificial mana pool from the Fourth Seal of the Seal of Ten Chakrams. Otherwise, it would have been difficult to complete the mana seals.ʼ

”I can feel the Fifth Seal on the Seal of Ten Chakrams loosing a bit. These mana seals are quite useful.” Izroth said to himself as he grabbed the pill and examined it.

Half of the pill was bright red with traces of flames around its surface. The other half was a light crystal blue with a faint lingering cold mist encompassing it. However, despite the two sides appearing separate, they had joined together in a perfect harmonious balance as a single pill.

Izroth gave a small nod of approval before placing the pill onto the jade tray.

[Passed]

[Evaluation:

Quality - S

Mana Seal Execution - S

Points Earned: 50

Total Accumulated Points: 210]

Unlike the first trial, the fourth trial only judged oneʼs pill based on two categories—quality and mana seal execution.

ʼNot bad.ʼ

After the evaluation finished, Izroth removed the Demonic Suppression Pill from the jade tray.

”This is beyond my expectations. Can it be that he has already reached that threshold?” Haishe thought to himself as he tried to hide his agitation.

By this point, Haishe had long since erased any previous doubts he held that Izroth was one of the Pill Emperors of the Mystical Realm Palace. Nevertheless, he did not expect Izroth to be capable of crafting a grade four pill. Thinking back, Haishe was glad that he did not side with Pill Master.

Haishe believed that it was only a matter of time until grade four pills started to appear in the Mystical Realm Palace. Once that happened, if he had chosen wrong, Fatal Touchʼs access to the Mystical Realm Palace would have been cut off. After all, Haishe was aware that Izroth had barred entry into his shop for players belonging to Blue Oasis.

Of course, a top guild like Blue Oasis still had their way of indirectly acquiring the merchandise inside the Mystical Realm Palace. However, using those methods required more man power and resources. It was also incredibly inconvenient due to the quantity of pills a top guild needed.

”Blue Oasis really shot themselves in both feet.” Haishe thought to himself as he could not help but sigh.

First, there was the raid guild order incident that had spread around. Then, recently, there was the bet Peaceful Chaos, one of Blue Oasisʼ captains and core members, made with Izroth that ended up with his entire guild losing face and access to the best player owned shop in RML.

If this wasnʼt considered shooting oneʼs self in both feet, then what was?

…

Thirty minutes later…

Iron Cauldronʼs cauldron shook violently as he performed a series of mana seals.

”No… At this rate, itʼs going to-!” Iron Cauldron thought to himself; however, before he could finish his thoughts, the cauldron exploded.

Boom!

Iron Cauldron coughed as he waved his hand in front of his face to help clear out some of the smoke.

”Itʼs a good thing there are some protections in place. If I had taken the blunt of an explosion from a grade four pill under normal circumstances, I wouldnʼt have been able to survive. That being said… Itʼs a shame. I suppose this is as far as I can go for now.” Iron Cauldron sighed heavily as he looked at the ashes of the pill that remained on the platform.

ʼNot bad for his first attempt at crafting a grade four pill, especially one of this difficulty level. Itʼs a pity that his mana seals were too inconsistent. Otherwise, there was a good chance he could have successfully formed a pill.ʼ

One needed a great deal of precision to execute the mana seals. And, while Iron Cauldron put forth his best effort, sadly, even with Izrothʼs previous guidance, it was not enough.

”Palace Master Izroth. I apologize for wasting your good efforts.” Iron Cauldron replied.

”Do not be disheartened. Failure is natural on this path. It is what you learn from that failure that ultimately defines your future limits. If you walk away having learned nothing, only then will my efforts have been truly wasted.” Izroth stated.

Not long after, an alert from the system sounded.

〈System Alert: The Nightmare Shroud Demon will appear in 1 minute! Your environment will be temporarily altered!〉
