The Shadow of Great Britain

Chapter 901: Chapter 19 Occupational Disease_3

Clang clang!

Both of their swords were full of sparks.

“Vini, don’t rush to get angry, there’s more to come. Dovar said to me a bit awkwardly: ‘Sorry, I… can’t kiss you… because I’ve changed.’

I curiously asked her: ‘What caused this “revolution” of yours?’

She told me: ‘Alfred de Vigny, I was captivated by him. Love is his only nature, he treats me like a Duchess, calls me his angel, and says my body is his only source of inspiration.’

Vini, by this time, I knew in the duel about Dovar, I was already defeated by you. In that case, what is the point of our duel?

Vini, panting, holding a sword in one hand and clutching his waist with the other: “Alexander, are you telling the truth?”

Great Dumas nodded sincerely and said: “Vini, I’ve said it many times. The embrace Dovar gave me in the theater that day was just the passion of a great actor, you know how outstanding she is, she has completely immersed herself.”

Upon hearing this, Vini suddenly took a deep breath, as if his mind had calmed down: “This… seems to make sense. She is such a crazy person, which is why she can become the most popular actress in Paris…”

Great Dumas sincerely said: “Vini, thank God, the misunderstanding between us is finally resolved. That being the case, may I be so bold as to ask, who is trying to drive a wedge between us? Who is that damn scoundrel, that rogue ruining our friendship, who is it?”

Vini seemed a bit hesitant, he pursed his lips: “It’s… Balzac who told me, as for who he heard it from, I… I don’t know. But I suppose Balzac probably heard it from Hugo, and Hugo… he probably heard it from someone else.”

Great Dumas heard this and immediately felt a rush of anger: “Balzac! That rogue again!”

As Great Dumas said this, a voice suddenly sounded in the café, neither salty nor bland: “Alexander, you have no right to say that about a person, he merely faithfully recounted what you did. Are you sure you don’t want to show Mr. Vini your tailcoat and white shirt that got torn due to Mrs. Dovar’s passion? I remember you said you planned to keep those as collectibles.”

“What?!”

Upon hearing this, Vini suddenly felt his anger rising again, he raised his sword, ready to stab Great Dumas.

Unexpectedly, a cane suddenly blocked between the two, and with a sudden forceful push, it deflected Vini’s sword tip, then gently nudged again. Vini felt the sword hilt in his hand slipping like a slippery eel, no matter how tightly he held it, and with a clang, it dropped to the ground.

He was about to bend down to pick it up, when a black boot suddenly appeared in his sight, firmly stepping on the sword’s tip.

Vini looked up and met a pair of calm red eyes.

“Sir, according to the law, your actions have constituted damage to public property and endangerment of personal safety, you have the right to remain silent, and the right to deny your guilt, and appoint your lawyer to formally protest at the Magistrates’ Court. But before that, I have the authority granted by the Government and the law to arrest you. Do you comply with my decision, or add another charge of resisting arrest?”

Victor, biting a cigarette holder, followed quickly out from behind Arthur, patted Arthur’s shoulder jokingly: “Buddy, always falling into the occupational habit, posing as regular troops? ‘In the name of the law, arrest you,’ isn’t something we down-on-our-luck Josephs should say.”
